MicroMillions III: R.I.PERRA celebrates win in Event 20 ($2.22+R NLHE Turbo Saturday Splash)
R.I.PERRA came on strong from the start of the final table. Though not the initial chip leader, R.I.PERRA flirted with that top spot and continued to pressure the rest of the table. It took some well-timed moves, good reads, and even a few lucky hands, but R.I.PERRA persevered and emerged the MicroMillions champion, complete with $23,686.63 to show for it.
A Saturday Splash in the midst of a series like the MicroMillions III becomes a Saturday Splash Special. And it wasn't for the faint of heart. Some players like the rebuy tournaments because they can take another (and another) (and possibly another) chance at the event, and the 3x-turbo structure was for players who were quick with the computer mouse. Five-minute levels whisked players on a rebuy adventure that weekend poker players live for. And a $150K guarantee and MicroMillions III title only added to the excitement.
After the 90-minute registration period ended and all of the rebuys and add-ons were calculated, the prize pool was quite impressive. The final numbers were:
Prize pool: $236,719.76
Paid players: 3,150
The bubble burst after approximately 2.5 hours of play, and Manipus was the first to walk away with money from this event - $16.57 to be exact. With no Team PokerStars Pros anywhere in the money portion of the tournament, the field was wide open with more than 3,000 players remaining.
At the five-hour mark of the tournament, only four tables remained and payouts exceeded $300 per player. But with the top three spots paying five figures each, play was as cautious as a turbo tournament could be.
In 20 minutes, the final two tables were in play, and another 20 minutes later, the bubble burst. Bucks-Rogers got involved from the big blind after easy-ludo raised UTG. The flop of 3♣7♣8♦ brought the all-in bet from Bucks-Rogers with T♠9♦, but easy-ludo had K♦K♣ for the overpair. The 8♠5♦ finished the board with two pair for easy-ludo and a tenth place finish and $887.69 for Bucks-Rogers.
Nata111337 leads at the start
The final table started in Level 60, with blinds of 1,600,000/3,200,000 and a 320,000 ante. Players' starting stacks were as follows:
Seat 1: CanaDocinha (28,414,654 in chips)
Seat 2: ABALAKOV (87,417,086 in chips)
Seat 3: Radif1994 (46,860,525 in chips)
Seat 4: CityFox99 (77,383,994 in chips)
Seat 5: torChun (58,944,756 in chips)
Seat 6: R.I.PERRA (88,109,175 in chips)
Seat 7: nata111337 (122,934,387 in chips)
Seat 8: potiss... (49,164,294 in chips)
Seat 9: easy-ludo (81,424,129 in chips)
It only took a few hands to see some big action. It happened when Radif1994 raised and R.I.PERRA reraised all-in from the big blind. Radif1994 called all-in with A♦T♥, but R.I.PERRA dominated with A♠K♦. The board only improved that hand when it came 8♠3♣K♠4♠4♥, and Radif1994 had to leave in ninth place with $1,420.31.
ABALAKOV took a pot worth more than 112 million chips on the next hand to take the lead from nata111337.
TorChun was ready to move and did so for nearly 44 million chips preflop. Nata111337 reraised all-in to isolate, which worked. Nata111337 showed A♣6♣, but torChun looked good for the double-up holding 9♥9♦. But the board of 7♣4♦3♣A♥J♦ had other ideas, like that pair of aces, and torChun was out in eighth place with $2,130.47.
On the very next hand, easy-ludo pushed all-in from the button, and initial raiser R.I.PERRA called with J♠J♦. Easy-ludo was at risk with A♣K♥ and didn't improve at all on the T♦J♥8♦4♣3♦ board. Easy-ludo departed in seventh place with $3,325.91.
CanaDocinha doubled through new chip leader R.I.PERRA, but the latter stayed at the top of the leaderboard.
Potiss... doubled through nata111337, and nata111337 moved all-in from the small blind on the next hand. Potiss... was there again and called with J♠J♥ from the big blind. Nata111337 turned over A♠Q♥ for a fair shot, but nothing paired on the 7♦5♦9♦6♦K♣ board. The jacks held up to eliminate former chip leader nata111337 in sixth place with $4,734.39.
A few rounds later, CityFox99 moved all-in UTG for more than 52 million chips, and potiss... reraised. Other players folded, and potiss... showed A♣Q♦ to race with the T♣T♠ of CityFox99. The flop of 2♥5♣A♦ gave potiss... the lead, and the 7♠ brought on the A♠ on the river for trip aces. CityFox99 had to leave in fifth place with $7,101.59.
No deal for final four
With ABALAKOV back in the lead, the final four paused the tournament to discuss a deal, but it was soon obvious that the chip leader was not pleased with the numbers offered.
The rise of R.I.PERRA
After CanaDocinha doubled through potiss..., the latter wanted to move and hit the all-in button with 9♠9♥. R.I.PERRA called with A♠T♣ and immediately hit the flop of T♦3♣T♥. The 7♠ on the turn and J♦ on the river allowed the trip tens to hold up, and potiss... was gone in fourth place with $9,468.79.
Then R.I.PERRA doubled through ABALAKOV to soar into a dominating lead:
ABALAKOV doubled through CanaDocinha on the next hand but tangled with R.I.PERRA again two hands later. ABALAKOV moved all-in for a little more than 20 million chips with A♦K♥, and R.I.PERRA called with J♣3♠. The board came 5♥Q♥J♦4♣9♦, and the flopped pair of jacks eliminated ABALAKOV in third place with $11,835.98.
The beginning heads-up chip counts were as follows:
Seat 1: CanaDocinha (51,518,828 in chips)
Seat 6: R.I.PERRA (589,134,172 in chips)
CanaDocinha had some work to do, and this double-up on the second hand of the match helped.
A few rounds into the battle, CanaDocinha had to try again and pushed with Q♣T♦. R.I.PERRA called with Q♥9♥ but caught the nine on the 2♠9♠4♦ flop. The 2♦ on the turn made two pair for R.I.PERRA, and the 8♣ on the river ended the duel. CanaDocinha had to accept second place and $17,590.64.
R.I.PERRA claimed victory, which came with a prestigious tournament title and $23,686.63. Congrats!
