SCOOP: Anubis147 gets a good razzing in Event 13

Poker players like to joke about how much they hate razz. They even started rotation games like S.H.O.E. (or H.O.S.E. depending on your game order and leg covering preference) that dropped razz from the standard H.O.R.S.E. rotation. But if Wednesday's $22 Razz SCOOP Event 13 was any indication, PokerStars players are rather fond of razz.

The tournament attracted 2,945 players to create a $58,900 prize pool with first place earning $9,571.26. After about nine hours that initial field was whittled down to eight.

Final table seating arrangements and chip counts started as:

Seat 1 - GeraldoCesar 583,955
Seat 2 - Zockerdima 2,627,840
Seat 3 - Anubis147 2,410,707
Seat 4 - rideja 953,294
Seat 5 - frenchylucky 830,580
Seat 6 - millwall13 2,361,038

Rideja was the first to go. Millwall had the 18,000 bring in with 8♥ and rideja raised it to 60,000 with the 7♥ showing. Frenchylucky re-raised to 120,000 with the A♠ up and millwall folded. Rideja called and caught 2♠ on fourth street while frenchylucky got the 8♠. Rideja led out for 60K and frenchylucky raised to 120K. After calling rideja got the 3♣ on fifth while frenchylucky drew the 5♦. Again rideja opened and frenchylucky raised, which put rideja all-in for this player's last 5K. On sixth rideja caught 7♦ while frenchylucky got the J♥. The final hands at showdown were:

Rideja 9♠ 2♥ 7♥ 2♠ 3♣ 7♦ K♠
Frenchylucky 4♠ 5♠ A♠ 8♠ 5♦ J♥ 5♥

While both started with strong hands neither ended up with much and frenchylucky's jack low was good enough to boot rideja in eighth, which earned this player $530.11

Frenchylucky was the next to go. This player made the unusual play of raising with the K♥ showing and got into a raising war on third and fourth streets for all of their stack with AJB444, who started with the 6♣ showing. It turned out frenchylucky had the 3♠ and 2♥ in the hole and was well behind the 9♠ 5♦ 6♣ that AJB444 started with. AJB444 ended up making 8-7-6-5-4 while frenchylucky caught two pair to exit in seventh with $883.51 in prize money.

AJB444 soon claimed another victim. GeraldoCesar had the 30K bring in with the J♥ and Zockerdima raised to 100K with the 6♠. Millwall13 re-raised to 200K with the 3♦, AJB444 cold called the raises with the 4♥ and Zockerdima also called. On fourth, Zockerdima caught the 8♥, millwall13 got the A♦ and AJB444 got the A♠. Millwall13 bet 100K, AJB444 called and Zockerdima folded. On fifth, millwall13 drew the 8♣ and AJB444 got the 9♦. Millwall13 bet the 125K remaining in this player's stack. After seventh street the hands were:

AJB444 3♠ 8♠ 4♥ A♠ 9♦ 2♠ 7♦
Millwall13 5♠ 4♠ 3♦ A♦ 8♣ 5♣ 5♥

In a close race, the 8-5-4-3-A of AJB444 bested the 7-4-3-2-A of millwall13, who got $1,767.01 for sixth.

Down to their last 200K, Fire Grill got all-in against razz slayer AJB444 who made a 6-5-4-2-A against the Q-6-4-3-A of Fire Grill to send this player out in fifth and $2,945.01 richer.

AJB444 would bust his fourth player in a row in short order. Anubis147 had the 30,000 bring in with T♠. AJB444 raised to 120,000 with A♣ up and GeraldoCesar three bet with 4♦. AJB444 raised to 360,000 and GeraldoCesar got all-in for 367,000 total. After seventh street the hands were:

AJB444 3♦ 5♣ A♣ 8♣ Q♥ 4♠ 6♠
GeraldoCesar 2♣ 8♥ 4♦ 3♠ T♥ 7♣ A♥

AJB444 made another strong hand with a six low to eliminate yet another player (and was probably wishing at this point that this was a bounty tournament). GeraldoCesar got $4,123.01 for fourth place.

It took close to 30 minutes before the next seat was emptied, but AJB444 got the job done again. Down to about 500K, Zockerdima got it all-in with 9♣ T♥ showing against AJB444, who held 8♣ 4♠. The final hands were:

Zockerdima A♠ 2♠ 9♣ T♥ 4♦ 2♦ 6♦
AJB444 A♦ K♥ 8♣ 4♠ 8♦ 5♦ 3♣

Zockerdima departed with third place money in the amount of $5,301.01.

Entering heads-up play with Anubis147, AJB444 held a 7.66 million to 7.07 million chip lead. The two players agreed to an even chop of $7,943 with $500 left over and the SCOOP Champion's watch to go to the winner.

The two remaining competitors slugged it out, with the lead changing hands several times. Finally, Anubis147 seized control when AJB444 called him down with upcards consisting of J♣ T♥ A♠ 3♥ and mucked when Anubis444 showed 5♠ K♠ T♠ 6♠ 2♦ 9♦ 7♥.

Down to less than 1 million, AJB444 got it all-in on fourth street showing 6♠ T♦ against the 6♣ J♦ of Anubis147. Appearances were good until the hole cards were shown as K♠ 9♠ for AJB444 versus the 4♥ 8♠ of Anubis147. The final boards were:

AJB444 K♠ 9♠ 6♠ T♦ 9♥ 3♣ 7♣
Anubis147 4♥ 8♠ 6♣ J♦ A♦ 8♣ T♥

Anubis147's T-8 low was just good enough to take down the Event 13 $22 Razz Low championship and $8,443 for first after the chop. AJB444 got $7,943 for the runner-up finish.
