SCOOP: yes mon, amrasaralond scoops victory in Event #18-H $5,200 O8
Tonight's big action took place over split pots and nut-nut wheel draws as SCOOP Event #18's Limit Omaha Hi-Lo welcomed 82 players into this high stakes $5,200 buy-in event. With the big buy-in come sizable names, some of which have making the SCOOP events their personal ATM.
Players like what is 7x6, a regular in the high stakes O8 games here at PokerStars, already has a final table in Event #7's H.O.R.S.E. tourney for $44,000 and a victory in last night's Event #15 8-game mix for another $100,800 for his bankroll but fell in 19th place. Hoss_TBF who final tabled also last night in Event #16 for $11K got a shade under $290K for his Event #14 runner-up finish (read the write up here). For Hoss_TBF's finish you'll have to read on below.
Team PokerStars Pros Barry Greenstein (38th place), Dario Minieri (48th), and Daniel "KidPoker" Negreanu (27th) tried their skills tonight against this tightly packed field but fell short of the final table of nine who all took a slice of the $410,000 prize pool this evening with only the final table paying out.
Another noted O8 regular, A_Ivanovich was tonight's bubble boy when his 3♦T♠A♦Q♥ fell short to Donald's 2♠K♠A♣T♦ when his flopped nut flush draw and inside straight drawdid not materialize on the K♦ 9♦ 8♥ 4♥ T♥ board to assure the final nine below at least $14,350.00 tonight:
Seat 1: baloo1962 (75790 in chips)
Seat 2: Hoss_TBF (35418 in chips)
Seat 3: FieldsOfMars (42807 in chips)
Seat 4: Donald (49929 in chips)
Seat 5: MarMoss (22929 in chips)
Seat 6: amrasaralond (112848 in chips)
Seat 7: get crunk (18629 in chips)
Seat 8: cpfactor (41743 in chips)
Seat 9: MKKMOO (9907 in chips)
We started off the final table with blinds at 1,600/3,200 and immediately MKKMOO would go to work digging himself out of the hole by taking his less than four big blinds and working them up to almost ten in short order. But, for the other small stack, get crunk, there would be no comeback story. After three-betting MarMoss' button raise and getting a call, both saw the flop of Q♣ 9♠ 8♥. MarMoss checked the flop as get crunk bet out, and was met by a check-raise from MarMoss. get crunk made the call of the check-raise for the J♥ turn and MarMoss kept up the aggression with a bet, with just 4,458 chips left get crunk raised all-in and MarMoss made the call with 6♣ A♦ Q♦ 5♠ for top pair. get crunk's A♣ T♠ T♦ 2♦ needed a ten or queen on the river, but instead the A♠ fell and get crunk got $14,350.00 in ninth place.
Hoss_TBF run towards another big payday was cut short in eighth place. After losing 20,000 of his starting final table stack over a few hands he would get his money in good against Donald in the hand below...
... but the rivered wheel favored Donald, as the 31,330 chip pot slid the Disney character's way, Hoss_TBF would collect $16,400.00 for eighth place for another well-earned big SCOOP final table cash.
Despite eliminating the first player from the final table MarMoss was the next to go in seventh. After losing a 28,000 chip pot to chip leader amrasaralond, he was left with a little over two big bets when the blinds increased to 2,000/4,000. In the fateful hand the cards folded around to FieldsOfMars on the button who raised into MarMoss' big blind. MarMoss made the call leaving himself 6,944 chips behind. Both players would trade bets to get those 6,944 chips into the middle after the J♥ 3♥ 6♣ flop. K♣ J♣ T♥ 7♦ and top pair for MarMoss, Q♦ 6♥ 5♦ A♣ middle pair and a live low draw for FieldsOfMars as the two players watched the 6♠ turn hit the board limiting MarMoss to just two outs on the river. Q♠ on the river filled up FieldsOfMars for the 22,888 chip pot as MarMoss tumbled off into the sunset with $18,450.00 in seventh place.
After eliminating MarMoss, FieldsOfMars could not find any traction as he would only be able to split two pots over the course of over twenty hands then lost a sizable pot to cpfactor as the blinds moved up to 2,500/5,000 leaving himself with only 5,977 chips for his final hand. Chip leader amrasaralond would raise from UTG and with half his stack in for the small blind, FieldsOfMars would push the remainder in as Donald called the extra 977 chips in the big blind and amrasaralond did likewise. amrasaralond followed thru with a bet on the 6♣ T♦ 7♣ and Donald called, as the two would then put away their guns for the 9♠ turn and 7♥ river. Donald flipped up Q♥ 8♣ T♠ J♣, good for the jack-hi straight, amrasaralond muck and FieldsOfMars held nothing worth showing as Donald collected the 22,931 chip pot and FieldsOfMars was launched from the final table in sixth place ($22,550.00).
Twelve hands later the worse-to-first story for MKKMOO ended at the hand of a very hot chip leader. amrasaralond chopped out most of MKKMOO's chips after MKKMOO called his raise in the big blind to see a flop of J♥ 5♠ 9♠. MKKMOO took the lead by betting from the blinds and amrasaralond made the call to see the 9♦ turn. Again MKKMOO lead out only to be raised this time, but MKKMOO still opted to call to see the river. 7♦ must have missed because MKKMOO decided to keep 2,782 chips after amrasaralond bet he folded leaving himself just enough to post part of the small blind. The very next hand MKKMOO's scraps went in preflop as baloo1962 would call down every one of amrasaralond's bets on a 2♦ Q♠ 9♠ T♣ 6♦ board. But, amrasaralond had top set of queens 9♦ J♠ Q♦ Q♣ for the 37,782 chip pot leaving MKKMOO out to pasture in fifth place ($30,750.00).
The buzzsaw that is amrasaralond continued to trim the field as baloo1962 was his next victim. Watch the hand play out below as amrasaralond takes an even bigger lead on the field:
$41,000.00 for baloo1962 in fourth place as amrasaralond's stranglehold on the final table got stronger as shown by the chip count starting three handed play:
1. amrasaralond (263920 in chips)
2. cpfactor (82142 in chips)
3. Donald (63938 in chips)
Donald's chip stack would waver from three big blinds to over ten after the blinds moved up to 3,000/6,000 and nearly ten hours of play, but he would succumb in third place. With three big blinds left, he would three-bet cpfactor's button raise as amrasaralond laid down his chip chainsaw for a hand and cpfactor made the call to see a 9♠ J♦ 6♣ flop. Donald led out from the small blind but was raised by cpfactor, Donald would call again for the Q♥ turn. Donald would check holding just 3,252 chips and cpfactor put him all-in by betting leaving Donald to comment about his chances on winning:
Donald said, "need king"
Unfortunately his king did not come as the 8♥ hit the river and cpfactor exposed his flopped set of jacks with J♠ 7♣ J♥ A♣, Donald's T♦ 5♠ 4♠ A♥ could not match up with the board as regular at the $75/$150 O8 game was out in third place ($61,500.00).
Here are the chip counts starting heads-up play as amrasaralond holds a 3:1 chips lead on cpfactor for the $123,000.00 first prize and SCOOP champion's watch.
1. amrasaralond (316481 in chips)
2. cpfactor (93519 in chips)
amrasaralond went right to work winning the first three pots, giving one up, then next three, giving one up, then the next four. cpfactor would find some air as would take the next two pots of 67,038 and 42,000 chips, the first pot after being pushed all-in when both players flopped two pair and got their chips into the middle by the turn.
amrasaralond kept up the pressure and eventually cpfactor broke, as shown by the final hand below when both players hit a decent chunk of the flop:
With the six-five low and slightly higher boat, amrasaralond got the watch and the $123,000.00 as tonight's Event #18 champion. cpfactor couldn't overcome the sizable chip lead held by amrasaralond but isn't going away empty handed as he received $82,000.00 as the runner-up
