SCOOP: Talented indeed, 92-talentet knocks down Event #11-Low bracket
While heads-up No Limit Hold Em' can be described as test of wits and nether regions fortitude, heads-up Pot Limit Omaha is more one part calculus class other part slot machine tilt. Knowing the right formula as to when your draw is ahead, and when it's time to spin the reels and start dreaming of hitting the MegaBucks jackpot. 3,898 players inserted $20+2 into the PokerStars machine with pay out lines showing like these below:
3rd and 4th $4,287.80
5th thru 8th $2,143.90
The mentioned $25,000.00 guarantee was not needed as the $77,960.00 prize pool stood at over triple that amount with 256 places getting some coin to fall out to the hopper. There would be no bonus round, just 12 steps to that five figure pay scale should the red, white, and blue 7s line up on the payline.
Team PokerStars pro Hungarian Richard Toth has a runner-up WSOP finish ($1,500 NLHE) and a WPT Bratislava win but couldn't quite get out of the gate in tonight's SCOOP tourney finishing in the first round. Same results for Portugal's Nuno Coelho, Team PokerStars online pro Martin "AABenjaminAA" Hruby, Johnny Lodden, Victor Ramdin, and Grant Levy who hopefully rested well after a run at a SCOOP title in Event #8 where he finished in 7th place.
Team PokerStars pro Juan Macerias fared a little better reaching the second round, as did Jorge Arias, Tom McEvoy. George Danzer who has a SCOOP title already pocketed in Event $4-M lasted only until the third round along with Thierry "BOKPOWER" van den Berg who busted in 683rd place. Only one Team PokerStars Pro would sniff the money, George "Jorj95" Lind III, would make the money bubble but could not advance in 387th place.
Round of 256 -
3,898 became 2,048 (due to the odd amount of entries some folks got a nice cold beverage with a free pass into the next round), then 1,024 and down to 512. Four wins but the next one was the bubble point as the fifth victory would assure the players of at least $77.96 for their efforts. dcoop4506 was on the last table to the cash but came up short earning as much as rigi87 who left quickly with prehaps dinner burning the oven and was the first player busted this evening.
Now in the money players could shift their focus on driving towards those big bucks sitting in the final four. Priitk was attempting to capture another deep run at SCOOP after making the final table of last night's Event #10 Limit Stud tourney (7th place, read here for details). Down to the last two tables of the level, Priitk was found to be at a 8,385 to 1,615 disadvantage to mariop17, and with blinds at 150/300 tried to make something happen preflop by re-potting the button raise by mariop17. mariop17 would call holding 6♥ A♠ T♣ 5♠ up against Priitk's 9♠ K♥ A♦ J♥. The 2♥ 7♣ 8♠ flop favored mariop17 who gained an open ended straight draw. 2♠ on the turn had Priitk one card away from a double up, but the straight would fill for mariop17 on the rivered 9♦ and Priitk was eliminated in 129th place ($77.96).
Round of 128
Don't let the buy-in of the event fool you, higher stakes players want to grab a SCOOP title at any expense. Take jellycz pictured above who took down his opponent already and the Sunday Second chance for $34,918.03 in December.
Down to players #64 and #65, tomovermeers and frugtplukker were nearly dead even with blinds at 150/300. After tomovermeers limped in the two saw a flop of 2♣ 8♥ 7♣ as frugtplukker checked as tomovermeers potted to 600. frugtplukker wasn't done with the hand and min-raised as tomovermeers came over the top all-in. frugtplukker had a decision to make holding middle set 7♦ 4♠ A♠ 7♠, and frugtplukker would make the call having to fade the nut flush draw of tomovermeers A♣ K♥ 5♣ 5♦ . T♠ on the turn missed as did the 3♦ on the river as tomovermeers was knocked down to just 190 which were eaten up on the next hand thus starting up the next level.
Round of 64
Down to the final two tables of the level, dragoonier was taking on sixers03 and leading the match 7,900 to 2,100 in the 80/160 blind level. After a min-raise by sixers03, dragoonier potted to 960 as sixers03 made the call. dragoonier immediately potted the 7♠ 4♥ 8♠ flop as sixers03 made the call all-in. T♣ 9♥ A♦ Q♣ for decent straight draws as sixers03 turned over Q♦ 6♣ J♥ 9♦ for a wrap straight draw. 3♠ and 8♥ on the turn and river missed both players as ace high wins??? A rarity in Omaha, even heads-up as neither player managed even a pair and dragoonier who has a WCOOP PLO8 final table on the record advanced as sixers03 earned $233.88 in 34th place.
Round of 32
Came down to pablos181 vs. Totha4 and SkilledYou1 vs. multious for the last two spots Totha4 would take down pablos181 after they got most of the money in preflop and dead even stacks with pablos181 showing an eyebrow raising 5♠ 2♦ 8♦ T♠. Totha4's K♠ 8♥ K♦ A♥ managed to fade the flush draw 7♠ Q♠ 8♣ Q♣ A♣ and advanced.
multious took down three pots in a row preflop with blinds at 125/250, but SkilledYou1 took a stand on the fourth hand setting the shortstacked aggressor all-in preflop. A♣ Q♥ 2♥ 9♥ for SkilledYou1 and 2♣ K♦ 8♥ 8♣ for multious. The ace would hit the flop as multious couldn't find a third eight on the J♥ 9♠ A♠ 5♦ T♣ board as SkilledYou1 advanced while multious earned $467.76 in 17th place.
Round of 16
92-talentet 720 chips
FoldJust4Me 9,280 chips
Cue up the comeback (and scroll down to the bottom of the page see just how big this comeback was).
With blinds at 80/160 in the last table open for the Round of 16, 92-talentet would double-up twice in a row. Then, win a 4,000 and 2,700 chip pot consecutively while FoldJust4Me managed to take the blinds. And on the final hand with 92-talentet holding 6,130 chips to FoldJust4Me's stack of 3,870 both would get their chips in the middle after the K♦ 5♠ 5♦ flop. FoldJust4Me holding 8♠ Q♠ A♦ 4♦ for the flush draw and 92-talentet with top pair J♠ K♥ J♥ Q♣. 92-talentet would fade the flush draw after 6♣ 2♠ fell on the turn and river knocking out FoldJust4Me in ninth place ($701.64)
Busted earning $701.64: 9th place FoldJust4Me, 10th place skeptix, 11th place Decision, 12th place Skilledyou1, 13th place Totha4, 14th place schiber23, 15th place immer-voll, and 16th place CHAOS666
Yeah, that's no fun
Set over set hurts. Watch TyroniX get into an uncomfortable spot with the video below:
Set of aces trump the set of sixes and mannimo advanced to the finish four while TyroniX had some choice words for his opponent after his defeat. "HU4ROLLZ?" somehow omitted as TyroniX did receive $2,143.90 in seventh place.
Buzzyb45 had just 180 chips left when the hourly break fired up forcing a little agony in finishing up the table. Buzzyb45 would double up on the first hand, but got aces cracked by leonydos22 who advanced to the final four.
Busted earning $2,143.90: AJSallenave 5th place, Buzzyb45 6th place, TyroniX 7th place, el-prebs 8th place
Both tables would start with a quest for a four-man deal as Team PokerStars pro Grant Levy tried to step in and assist but leonydos22 did not comment throughout and continued to play a normal game.
This is semi-final match was over in an instant as 92-talentet built up a 6,715 chips to 3,285 chip lead when the following cooler occurred. Blinds at 25/50, mannimo would raise to 150 from the button as 92-talentet made the call. Flop comes down 8♣ T♣ K♥ as 92-talentet checked as mannimo potted, and 92-talentet check-raised to 850. mannimo holding middle set T♦ K♦ J♠ T♠ potted leaving only 285 behind as 92-talentet re-potted with top set and redraw to a flush K♣ 7♣ K♠ 3♠. mannimo called off the remaining chips and failed to hit running straight cards or the ten on the 2♦ turn and 4♣ river to finish in fourth place ($4,287.80).
VIP Supernova TigerFM and leonydos22's match looked to be shaping up much differently that the blink and it was over match won by 92-talentet. Going into the 15 minute dinner break with blinds at 40/80 here's how they shaped up chip-wise:
Shortly after the break the tide would turn in leonydos22's favor after flopping a straight and getting TigerFM to pay it off with two pair for a 7,250 chip pot. Five hands later TigerFM would make a small comeback by doubling up to 3,340 chips but those chips would last exactly one hand. Watch below as leonydos22 advances on to the final table with 92-talentet:
leonydos22: K♥ 9♣ J♠ A♥
TigerFM: 3♥ K♦ 5♦ 8♥
Both were all-in after the flop, as TigerFM couldn't hit the flush draw on the 6♦ 4♣ A♦ 6♣ 5♠ board and was out in third place earning $4,287.80
Busted earning $4,287.80: TigerFM 3rd place, mannimo 4th place
The man with no voice suddenly finds it.
leonydos22 decided the cash was big enough to finally speak up in the chat box and offer a deal of $9K for both playing for the rest. 92-talentet pounced on it and after a little help from the host there was $2,269.60 set aside for tonight's champion.
leonydos22 would start out hot building up a 6,000 to 4,000 chip lead into the 15/30 blind level. But, not to be deterred, 92-talentet came back with a fierce rally starting in the 20/40 blind level by notching together six wins in a row taking the chip lead up to 6,990 to 2,010.
Just before the rise from 25/50 to 30/60, leonydos22 would get a streak of five wins in a row ending with a big 4,400 chip pot that 92-talentet couldn't answer a turn shove over his 1,200 chip bet with the board showing K♣ T♥ J♦ T♣.
92-talentet said, "kk or k10?"
No reply came as 92-talentet would get those chips back and more. With the blinds at 30/60 the players both push all-in after a flop of 5♣ 2♥ 7♦. Top two J♣ 5♦ 7♥ J♦ for leonydos and 92-talentet held Q♦ 3♥ 4♦ 6♥ for the wrap straight draw. 6♦ on the turn filled the straight, and the K♦ on the river actually gave both of them flushes but 92-talentet had one pip higher and 7,550 chips was his.
Three hands later, we had our winner. Check out the final hand below:
In a case where no one wanted to let go of their flopped pair, 92-talentet check-called every bet by leonydos22 believing the flopped top pair of jacks 2♦ 5♥ J♥ K♦ and rivered two pair was good on the 7♦ J♦ 3♠ T♣ 2♥ board.
leonydos would also hit two pair on the river holding 7♣ 2♣ 9♦ Q♥ but 92-talentet's jacks and deuces took the last 4,900 chip pot and the extra $2,269.60 set aside for tonight's champ 92-talentet who earned a total of $11,269.60 for the victory. Per the chop agreement leonydos earned $9,000.00 as the runner-up.
