The Daily SCOOP (5-18-11): cal42688, double-COOP winner

SCOOP logo.gifThere is no debate about how to pronounce the acronym Spring Championship of Online Poker. It's SCOOP, like a big orb of ice cream or the first to a breaking news story. What you might not know, however, is that for many year there was significant debate internally at PokerStars about how to pronounce the acronym for the World Championship of Online Poker. Some people called it "Wah-COOP" while other execs said "Double-U-COOP." (Note: I firmly believe the latter is correct and won't be convinced otherwise).

I bring it up, because for the second time in two days, we have a SCOOP champion who comes straight from the ranks of the WCOOP winners' stable. Yesterday it was Jonathan "Iftarii" Jaffe. Today it's cal42688, who just picked up a a SCOOP watch to go along with his WCOOP bracelet. That's a very linky way of saying, next time someone tells you poker isn't a game of skill, we have a couple of guys here who know their COOPs pretty well, no matter how they are pronounced.

Today's broadcast features SCOOP winner Michael Risman and Team PokerStars Pro Ville Wahlbeck. Also, we're told we should be watching for a special appearance from a certain female Team PokerStars Pro (which is probably reason enough to watch this thing frame by frame).

Still need more? Me, too. Let's get in this as deeply as we can. Here's a replay of the high buy-in of SCOOP Event #20, a $2,100 NLHE contest featuring de bluffer, sukin12, nikolay76, RAKUTE, ThEcLaiMEer, 1-ronnyr3, CuCbKu, kovi99 and Lottenice in action.
