The Daily SCOOP (5-20-11): Tight fight for top leaderboard spot

SCOOP logo.gifNow that we've wiped the sleep from our eyes and greeted Friday with the appropriate amount of vim, we've noticed something fairly shocking: there are only three more starting days for the 2011 Spring Championship of Online Poker. We have but a weekend of events left. There is still a lot of big action remaining, but not much time to ramp up for a chance at the big SCOOP Player of the Series leaderboard prizes.

Listed below are the folks who have simply been crushing it during the last couple weeks of the series. At this hour, Denmark's EDWARDHOPPER sits at the very top of the leaders. Just a few points behind him is Russian Alexander "joiso" Kostritsyn. Also included among the top names are double-watch-winners cal42688 and -DrawingDad-, not to mention Team PokerStars Online's Anders "Donald" Berg.

  • I'm not going to let the day go by without mentioning the latest Inside SCOOP Web Show. This edition starts features the voice of one of my favorite people in poker. At the top of this one, you'll hear Nick Wealthall getting dressed down by a disembodied Scotsman. That's our buddy Hass. And honestly? Either he's a good actor or he's really had it with the sound effects board. Oh, and the show goes on to feature Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang and SCOOP winner Stjepan Jokic.

While we're at it, here's one of the coolest final tables of the 2011 SCOOP so far, the $2,100 NLHE double shootout featuring Joep "Pappe_Ruk" Van Den Bijgaart, lechuckpoker, caio_pimenta, pezler06, johnxfleming, iamadumbnoob, hneves182, javahound, 69jocker69 and Ramux.

Finally, here's the SCOOP schedule for the day.

    Friday May 20 SCOOP schedule

  • Event # 31 NL Hold'em, 1 Rebuy, 1 Add-on ($22, $215, $2,100) 11:00 ET
  • Event #32 FL Hold'em --6-Max ($55, $530, $5,200) 14:00 ET
  • Event #33 NL Omaha Hi/Lo -- 10m Levels ($22, $215, $2,100) 17:00 ET
  • Remember: there are just a few events left before we put a bow on SCOOP for the rest of the year. If you want a shot at that leaderboard spot, now's the time to start getting your money in.

    Good luck this weekend.
