Watch this: SCOOP awards go beyond prize pool
The 2011 Spring Championship of Online Poker schedule announced last week was an eye-popping announcement that set the intertubes alive with chatter about how much could be won. With 114 tournaments set to guarantee $45 million in prize money, poker players worldwide started blocking off time to play. After all, in 2010, SCOOP awarded more than $63 million in prize money. What folks may not have realized is that this year's SCOOP series will offer a lot more than what's in the prize pool.
First off, if you didn't know, winning a SCOOP event will make you the proud owner of a swank Movado watch designating you as a SCOOP champion. It doesn't matter if you play the low, medium, or high buy-in events. If you win, you get a championship watch like the one you see below.
Even if you're not one for bling, there are still extra-prize-pool awards to be won. The 2011 SCOOP Leader Board will crown a Player of the Series this year and offer some sweet prizes to the top finishers. Here's what the top three SCOOP Leader Board finishers will pick up in addition to prize money.
SCOOP runs May 8-22 with 38 events, 114 tournaments (three buy-in levels for each event).
If you missed our announcement earlier this week, PokerStars has already kicked off satellites for SCOOP events with qualifier buy-ins as low as 25¢. Click on EVENTS > SCOOP > and CASH SATELLITES to get in on the cheap.
