SCOOP 2012: MaTpacuk deals his way to a win in Event #8-L ($11 NLHE)
When at first you don't succeed try, try again. That is just what happened in the low version of the Spring Championship of Online Poker Event #8 as it took three attempts to secure a deal and 94 hands of heads-up play to get a winner. These players were determined to get what they wanted and it didn't matter who stood in their way they were going to eventually get it. It was MaTpacuk who was the most determined of the group eventually collected his first SCOOP bracelet along with $19,702.08.
The final event to get underway on the third day of the 2012 Spring Championship of Online Poker was Event #8-L. It was a No Limit Hold'em tournament with an $11 buy-in. The $100,000 guarantee was easily surpassed with 22,455 entrants. Here is a look at the numbers:

One of the last to fall was the end of day chip leader, loco602. He was eliminated in 14th place where he collected $651.19.
The only surviver from the top nine was 777masimo777 who finished Day 1 in fifth place. He slid into the final table in ninth place, 30,616,444 behind EFIDON90, the chip leader. Here is a look at how the final nine started the final table.
Seat 1: EFIDON90 (34,508,143 in chips)
Seat 2: campoy114 (13,074,914 in chips)
Seat 3: AKleiven77 (6,535,943 in chips)

Seat 8: ErvinBurrell (11,326,270 in chips)
Seat 9: Zebalhao (8,035,338 in chips)
Chip lead gets bigger:
The first elimination came on just the fourth hand of the final table. Sitting in the big blind AKleiven77 saw ErvinBurrell open in late position for a min-raise to 600,000 and a call from EFIDON90 in the big blind. Starting out the hand with just over 7 million and second from the bottom in the chip couts AKleiven77 moved all-in. ErvinBurrell folded while the EFIDON90 called. It was EFIDON90 who held the lead in the hand with 7♠7♣ against the 6♦6♥ held by AKleiven77. The A♣Q♥J♦ A♥ 4♥ board was a safe one for EFIDON90 who increased his chip lead eliminating AKleiven77 in ninth place to collect $1,347.30.
Next one out:
After attempting to discuss an eight-way deal the next elimination came when the short stack, Zebalhao, found Q♣Q♦ in his hand while sitting in the big blind. The hand started with Bydloman min-raising to 1,000,000. Zebalhao moved all-in for 7,225,338 and Bydloman called. Bydloman's A♠J♠ was behind the Zebalhao's pocket queens. The K♦5♦3♥ flop was safe for Zebalhao as was the 4♣ turn, though it did bring an inside straight draw for Bydloman. The river was not so kind for Zebalhao as the 2♠ fell giving Bydloman the straight and sending him out. Zebalhao collects $2,020.95 for his eighth place finish.
Another failed deal, another elimination:
Once again they tried to discuss a deal but it was veto'd and they continued to play. They played a few more hands and decided to discuss a deal once again. But before the tourney could get paused an all-in happened and it was called.
It was a classic aces versus jacks deal. Bydloman held A♠A♣ against the J♣J♦ of campoy114. The jacks never caught up on the K♣T♣4♥ Q♦ 6♠ board sending campoy114 out the door in seventh to collect $3,154.92.
A Deal you say?
Since the players had agreed to discuss the deal once again before the last elimination the final six saw the numbers once again. It seems that the third time was the charm for the deal to get made as they all finally agreed to the numbers. Here is what the final deal looked like:
*$2,000 left to play for
Chips are moving:
Now that a deal was agreed to the final six players started moving chips around, with 777masimo777 and Lucky Buda89 getting double ups before the next elimination happened.
After ErvinBurrell opened EFIDON90 moved all-in and ErvinBurrell called for his tourney life. EFIDON90 showed 4♣4♠ while ErvinBurrell held A♣T♣. The K♦9♣3♣ flop gave ErvinBurrell a bit more hope but the 9♠ turn and 3♥ river shut all those dreams down eliminating ErvinBurrell in sixth place collecting $8,395.76 thanks to the previous agreed upon deal.
It only took five hands for the next player to make their exit. It was Lucky Buda89 who ran out of luck when he got his chips in against MaTpacuk. MaTpacuk started the hand by opening to 1,260,000. He was called by Lucky Buda89, EFIDON90, and 777masimo777. The four saw the J♦6♠2♠ flop. 777masimo777 was the first to act and he checked, MaTpacuk bet 4,400,550, Lucky Buda89 made it 8,801,100, EFIDON90 and 777masimi777 folded, MaTpacuk moved all-in, enough to cover Lucky Buda89 who called. The pairs cards were revealed with MaTpacuk holding 6♣6♥ for the flopped set while Lucky Buda89 had J♠T♠ for top pair and flush draw. The J♥ brought trips for LuckyBuda89 but also improved MaTpacuk's hand to a full house. The 9♦ river meant nothing for either players hands eliminating LuckyBuda89 in fifth place to collect $7,759.64 thanks to the deal.
And then there was three:
The next elimination did not come as fast but it was not long before Bydloman found himself all-in against EFIDON90. All the chips got into the middle and Bydloman showed 3♠3♥ against the A♠7♥ of EFIDON90. It didn't take long for EFIDON90 to move into the lead as he caught a pair of sevens on the Q♦9♥7♠ flop. The Q♣ turn gave each player a second pair and the 7♦ river gave EFIDON90 an unneeded full house. Bydloman collects $16,086.21 for his fourth place effort thanks to the deal.
Down to two:
Three handed play lasted only four hands, three of which saw 777masimo777 move all-in. It was the third time that he moved all-in pre flop that got a call from EFIDON90. EFIDON90 showed K♦J♥ while 777masimo777 held the slight lead with 2♥2♠. EFIDON90 took the lead in the hand on the Q♦J♠3♦ flop with a pair of jacks. That lead was not released as the 6♠ turn and 7♦ river brought no help to 777masimo777 eliminating him in third place where he collected $7,112.57.
With both players holding just over 100 big blinds at the start of heads-up play both players started to work at each other to get the bracelet and $2,000 that was left over after the deal.
The two played 94 hands during their battle with MaTpacuk getting the lead and never looking back even though EFIDON90 kept the pressure on him. The final hand saw EDIDON90 move all-in and MaTpacuk call. MaTpacuk held Q♦Q♣ against EFIDON90's K♠J♣. The T♣T♦2♥ flop meant nothing to either player while the Q♥ turn gave MaTpacuk a full house which meant the end for this tournament. EFIDON90 collected $11,538.60 for second place. MaTpacuk gets the bracelet and $19,702.08.
Congrats to MaTpacuk on winning that shinny bracelet along with the $19,000 plus.
