SCOOP 2015: Fartojop333 rips through Event #43-M final table ($215 NLHE 6-Max, Variable Level Times, Progressive Super-Knockout)

When it comes to format, PokerStars threw everything but the kitchen sink at this one. Your garden variety 6-Max NLHE tourney was not only dressed up with a progressive bounty that grew with every knockout, but accessorized with variable level times-- starting at four minutes and growing to 15 minutes by the time we reached the final table. Making return appearances at a SCOOP final table were Fartojop333, who finished ninth in last year's Event #36-M ($215 NLHE Turbo Re-Entry) and Graftekkel, who recently took third place in Event #23-M ($215 NLHE). And remarkably, Katz0r entered this final table having just finished third in Event #43-H, the $2,100 buy-in version of this very tournament. Katz0r scratched and clawed his way to a 2.5 to 1 chip lead when heads-up play began, but lost momentum after striking a deal with Fartojop333. Fartojop333 seized on his hot streak and overtook Katz0r, capturing his first SCOOP title and over $53,000.

Event #43-M drew 2,857 players, creating a $571,400 total prize pool. Half that amount went into the main prize pool and the other half into the bounty pool. 360 places were paid with $44,998.86 set aside for first place.

Owing to the speed of play in the early levels, it only took two hours and 17 minutes to burst the money bubble. Four hours later, only seven players remained. The blinds were up to 25,000/50,000 when kony555 opened for 100,000 and Katz0r three-bet to 246,700. Kony555 called and they saw a 6♠5♦3♠ flop. Kony555 check-raised all-in and Katz0r called, his J♥J♣ crushing kony555's 7♣7♥. Kony555 didn't get any help on the 2♣ turn or the 3♥ river and went out in seventh place, one sport short of the final table.

Final table chip counts

Seat 1: Graftekkel (1,474,039 in chips)
Seat 2: Fartojop333 (3,777,954 in chips)
Seat 3: LgwZ (850,813 in chips)
Seat 4: antesvante (2,220,319 in chips)
Seat 5: Katz0r (3,182,108 in chips)
Seat 6: Palo1973 (2,779,767 in chips)

The shortest stack at the final table, LgwZ slipped to 581,000 before he made a small blind shove with J♦7♦. Unfortunately for him, antesvante called with K♣J♠ and his dominating hand held up on the 8♠6♦3♥2♦A♠ board, ending LgwZ's run in sixth place.

Antesvante moved up to 3.28 million after the hand, but lost quite a bit of it to Fartojop333. Antesvante bet 123,500 on a K♠Q♠4♦ flop and fired another 240,420 when the 5♠ turned. Fartojop333 raised to 720,000 and antesvante called. Fartojop333 led out for 1.26 million on the 6♠ river, but antesvante couldn't make the call.

On the next hand, Katz0r four-bet shoved preflop with A♠K♣ and Graftekkel called with 8♥8♣. Katz0r won the coinflip with an ace on the flop and doubled to 3.4 million. Graftekkel was left with only 241,000, but quadrupled his stack three hands later. Fartojop333 opened for 200,000 from UTG and both antesvante and Katz0r called before Graftekkel moved in for 231,000. All three opponents called and they saw a 5♥3♣2♦ flop. Fartojop333 checked, antesvante bet 385,025 and both Katz0r and Fartojop333 folded. Antesvante turned up A♥3♠ for a pair of threes, but Graftekkel's K♣8♦ turned a pair of eights to wrest away the 1.01 million pot.

After that close brush with death, Graftekkel doubled twice more through Katz0r. First, his pocket sevens held up against A♠8♥ and a few minutes later, his A♥A♠ stood up to Katz0r's A♣Q♠ to leave him on 3.28 million. Katz0r sank to 490,000 in chips, but doubled to 1.01 million on the next hand when his J♦8♣ made a jack-high straight against Palo1973's 4♥5♥. Then, on the next deal, the action folded to Katz0r on the button and he moved all-in with A♠4♣. Graftekkel called from the big blind with 4♦4♠, but Katz0r flopped an ace to double again, this time to 2.09 million.

Meanwhile, antesvante sunk to 1.34 million in chips and with the blinds up to 50,000/100,000, he open-shoved on the button with 7♦7♠. Katz0r reshoved from the small blind and turned up 9♥9♣. Antesvante didn't get any help on the K♥8♠3♠3♦4♦ board and went out in fifth place.

Later in the same level, things got wild when Katz0r open-shoved for 7.8 million on the button with 5♥6♠. Palo1973 called off his last 903,000 with A♣8♣ and Graftekkel happily overcalled with Q♠Q♥. Graftekkel was sitting pretty on the J♥J♣8♠ flop, but Katz0r caught running sixes on the turn and river to make trips and land a double-knockout punch. Katz0r raked in $1,465.52 in cash for Palo1973's bounty and another $2,546.47 for eliminating Graftekkel. Since Palo1973 had fewer chips to start the hand, he finished in fourth place while Graftekkel took third.

Shortly after heads-up play began, Fartojop333 and Katz0r agreed to pause the action and discuss a potential deal. here's how they stacked up at the time:

Fartojop333 - 3,882,994 ($6,554.45 bounty)
Katz0r - 10,402,006 ($10,208.04)

Fartojop333 won two pots in a row to even the chip counts-- in the first, his 8♦9♣ flopped a pair of eights and outkicked Katz0r's 7♣8♠ to take down to 2.06 million pot. Then on the next hand, his A♠5♠ rivered a pair of aces against Katz0r's 6♣7♠ to take down another 2.32 million.

Fartojop333 had a slight chip lead, 7.48 million to 6.8 million when he called Katz0r's 240,000 button raise with Q♠J♥. Both players checked the A♥8♥8♦ flop, but when the T♦ turned, Fartojop333 led out for 300,000 with his gutshot straight draw. Katz0r called and they went to the river, which fell the 9♥. Katz0r called Fartojop333's 600,000 bet, but could not beat his queen-high straight.

Fartojop333 was up to 8.8 million when Katz0r opened for 280,000. Fartojop333 called and they saw a K♦Q♥7♣ flop. Fartojop333 checked, Katz0r bet 214,200 and Fartojop333 raised to 490,000. Katz0r called and they went to the turn, which fell the A♥. Fartojop333 made it 770,000 to go and Katz0r called. The river was the 3♥ and Fartojop333 bet another 1.68 million, only to be met with a shove from Katz0r for 3.91 million. Fartojop333 called and revealed K♥Q♣, picking off Katz0r's bluff with J♥7♠ and locking up the win.

Congratulations to Russia's Fartojop333 on his first SCOOP watch! He banked $41,981.76 for the win, along with $11,658.47 in bounties for a $45,640.23 total score.
