SCOOP 2015: Kashmir_uzi guns down field in Event #14-H ($2,100 NL 2-7 Single Draw)

Loaded down with six 'COOP titles and millions in 'COOP earnings, Event #14-H's final table was a minefield. In one corner, three-time SCOOP champion Shawn "buck21" Buchanan. In another, Darren "darrenelias" Elias, with two WCOOP bracelets to his name. Across the way, SCOOP champ Stephen "stevie444" Chidwick, playing his third SCOOP final table in a 24-hour period. And the short stack? None other than Jon "PearlJammer" Turner, making his 11th career SCOOP final table. As star-studded a seven as this was, it was ultimately an unknown who came away with the win, as Kashmir_uzi picked up his first SCOOP title.

A small but deadly field of 54 players assembled for Event #14-H, resulting in a $108,000.00 prize pool. Six places were paid, with $39,960.00 going to the winner.

Final table chip counts

Seat 1: jp_legacy (34,181 in chips)
Seat 2: darrenelias (53,900 in chips)
Seat 3: PearlJammer (7,894 in chips)
Seat 4: tehopo1 (11,075 in chips)
Seat 5: buck21 (64,581 in chips)
Seat 6: Kashmir_uzi (80,972 in chips)
Seat 7: stevie444 (17,397 in chips)

After eight and a half hours of play, instigator85 became the final table bubble boy when his T-8-7-4-2 fell to darrenelias's 9-6-5-4-3. Typically, making the final table would be a cause for celebration, but in this event, one of its seven players went home empty-handed. Tehopo1 was the first to put his chips at risk, calling off his last 6,735 when darrenelias open-shoved. Tehopo1 stood pat while darrenelias drew two and his 9-8-4-3-2 was enough to earn him a double-up to 16,445. Jon "PearlJammer" Turner, however, was not as fortunate. Turner moved all-in for 3,694 and Shawn "buck21" Buchanan called. Turner stood pat with his J-6-4-3-2 and Buchanan drew one, improving to a T-8-7-5-4 low. With that, SCOOP legend Turner bubbled the money and hit the rail in seventh place.

Tehopo1 bounced back to 21,895 in chips before reraising all-in predraw vs. jp_legacy. Jp_legacy stood pat and tehopo1 drew one card, making a 8-7-6-5-2 low. Unfortunately for him, jp_legacy just outpipped him with an 8-7-6-4-2 low. Left with only 1,764 in chips, tehopo1 moved all-in on the next hand and jp_legacy called. This time, jp_legacy drew one while tehopo1 stood pat with J-9-8-5-3. Jp_legacy improved to a T-8-7-6-5 low and tehopo1 was eliminated in sixth place.

With the blinds up to 400/800, darrenelias opened for 2,000 and Stevie "stevie444" Chidwick moved all-in for 7,704. Darrenelias called and both players stood pat. Stevie444 turned over J-8-7-5-4, but darrenelias had the better low with J-6-5-4-2 and took him out in fifth place. Remarkably, this was Chidwick's third SCOOP final table in the last 24 hours-- he took second place in Event #11-M ($215 Limit 2-7 Triple Draw) last night and finished sixth in today's Event #12-H ($700 NLHE Ante Up).

Darrenelias hit a snag, dropping a sizable pot to jp_legacy. Jp_legacy opened for 2,150, darrenelias three-bet to 6,800 and jp_legacy called. Darrenelias stood pat while jp_legacy drew one card. Darrenelias led out for 11,250 after the draw and jp_legacy called with 9-6-5-4-3. With a hand full of paired low cards (5-5-4-3-3), Elias's bluff went up in flames and he fell to 52,000 in chips.

Later in the same level, darrenelias opened for 2,000 and Kashmir_uzi three-bet to 5,692. Darrenelias called and drew two cards while Kashmir_uzi drew one. Kashmir_uzi led out for 9,047, darrenelias raised all-in for 40,947 and Kashmir_uzi looked him up. Once again, darrenelias was bluffing with a pair in his hand (8-7-7-6-2) and Kashmir_uzi took down the 94,478 pot with 8-6-4-3-2, ending darrenelias's run in fourth place.

As three-handed play commenced, Kashmir_uzi held the chip lead with 142,562, buck21 had 63,884, and jp_legacy was right behind him with 63,554 in chips.

Buck21 moved into the chip lead when he doubled through Kashmir_uzi. All the money went in predraw, Kashmir_uzi five-bet shoving for 140,558 and buck21 calling all-in for 45,598. Buck21 stood pat while Kashmir_uzi drew one, however, he paired his six, ending the hand with 8-7-6-6-3. Buck21 turned over T-8-7-5-3 and raked in the 122,740 pot.

Jp_legacy also grabbed a piece of Kashmir_uzi's stack. In a pot jp_legacy four-bet to 17,500 predraw, both players drew one card. Kashmir_uzi fired out 23,258 and jp_legacy called with A-8-6-4-2, but it was enough to beat Kashmir_uzi's pair of fives. Jp_legacy took down the 84,477 pot and took the chip lead with 117,000 while Kashmir_uzi fell to 50,000.

Buck21 lost a series of small pots and found himself down to 51,000 when jp_legacy opened for 3,000. Buck21 three-bet to 8,766 and jp_legacy moved all-in. Buck21 called off his remaining 42,462 and both players stood pat. Buck21 turned over T-9-4-3-2, but it was no match for jp_legacy's 7-6-5-4-2. Three-time SCOOP champion Buchanan exited in third place, good for $16,200.00.

Heads-up chip counts

Seat 1: jp_legacy (179,584 in chips)
Seat 6: Kashmir_uzi (90,416 in chips)

After about fifteen minutes of small pots, jp_legacy opened for 2,640 on the button and Kashmir_uzi three-bet to 7,485. Jp_legacy called and drew two cards while Kashmir_uzi took one. Kashmir_uzi led out for 8,719 and jp_legacy called, but couldn't beat his 7-6-4-3-2 low. With that pot, Kashmir_uzi evened the counts, moving up to 134,351, right behind jp_legacy's 135,649.

Kashmir_uzi moved out to a slight chip lead, and had won 16 out of 18 hands when jp_legacy opened for 3,080. Kashmir_uzi looked down at 7-6-5-3-2 and three-bet to 8,950, jp_legacy came back over the top for 22,550, Kashmir_uzi five-bet to 52,068 and jp_legacy called. Jp_legacy drew one card and called Kashmir_uzi's shove. Jp_legacy's 9-5-4-3-2 couldn't compete with a pat number three and Kashmir_uzi locked up the win.

Congratulations to Kashmir_uzi on his first SCOOP title! He banked $39,960.00 for the win while runner-up jp_legacy earned $27,000.00.
