SCOOP 2015: kenny05 claims victory in Event #40-H ($2,100 NLHE Turbo, Zoom)

Two nosebleed-stakes cash gamers, a WSOP bracelet winner, three players with more than $6 million in online MTT earnings between them, and one of the top high-stakes SNG players ever were among the final nine in this supercharged SCOOP event. Among this decorated group, only one had previously captured a SCOOP title-- Charles "Chilax Chuck" Sylvestre, the aforementioned WSOP champ-- who also won Event #17-M ($162+R PLO) in the 2011 SCOOP. Sylvestre, however, ended his run in fourth place, setting up a deadly final three-- ForTheSwaRMm, runner-up in the 2014 WCOOP $10K High Roller Heads-up, SNG wizard Ken "kenny05" Smaron, and Amit "AMAK316" Makhija. Ultimately, it was Smaron who prevailed in this lightning-speed final, eliminating both Makhija and ForTheSwaRMm to claim his first SCOOP title.

527 players bought in to Event #40-H, creating a $1,054,000.00 prize pool. 63 places were paid with first place set to earn $200,260.00.

Less than two hours after late registration closed, this tournament was down to its final ten players. Blinds were up to 8,000/16,000 and the action folded around to snow876 in the small blind. He moved all-in for 357,641 and JC "PrtyPsux" Alvarado called all-in from the big blind. Although Alvarado held the preflop lead with K♦4♠ vs. Q♥T♠, snow876 flopped trip queens, the board running out Q♦Q♣2♠6♦9♥ to end his run on the final table bubble.

Final table chip counts

Seat 1: snow876 (486,159 in chips)
Seat 2: Raistj (302,505 in chips)
Seat 3: Schwaixi (193,687 in chips)
Seat 4: Chilax Chuck (286,819 in chips)
Seat 5: AMAK316 (238,151 in chips)
Seat 6: Flush_Entity (97,200 in chips)
Seat 7: kenny05 (531,154 in chips)
Seat 8: ForTheSwaRMm (272,531 in chips)
Seat 9: Trueteller (226,794 in chips)

Snow876 suffered a setback when he doubled up ForTheSwaRMm, who shoved for 226,831 on the button with Q♥9♣. Snow876 had an easy call with A♥K♥ in the big blind, but was outdrawn on the Q♠T♣8♣Q♣2♠ board. Snow876 was left with 205,000.

Shortly thereafter, Schwaixi moved in for 167,437 from middle position with A♣K♥ and AMAK316 called with pocket jacks. The jacks held up on the nine-high board and Schwaixi departed the final table in ninth place. Four hands later, AMAK316 opened for a min-raise to 50,000 and snow876 three-bet shoved from the small blind with A♥K♠. AMAK316 called with 9♣9♦ and once again the pocket pair held up, as snow876 exited in eighth place.

The blinds were up to 17,500/35,000 when ForTheSwaRMm shoved for 733,812 and Trueteller snap-called all-in with A♥A♠. ForTheSwaRMm was in dire shape with A♣T♥. Trueteller made aces up on the Q♣Q♥6♥ flop, but ForTheSwaRMm miraculously caught running cards, the K♥ and the J♠, to make Broadaway and snap off Trueteller's aces.

On the very next deal, Flush_Entity doubled up when he called off the rest of his chips vs. AMAK316's small blind shove. Flush_Entity's K♠2♥ held up against 2♠5♠ and he moved up to 338,000. However, on the next hand, Raistj open-shoved from UTG+1 for 148,380, Flush_Entity reshoved for 333,725 from the small blind, and kenny05 cold-called from the big blind.

Flush_Entity K♣J♠
kenny05 Q♣Q♦
Raistj J♣T♦

Kenny05's pocket queens held up on the J♦5♦2♠A♦5♣ board and took out both players. Raistj had the smaller stack to start the hand and finished sixth while Flush_Entity took fifth.

The final four hardly had time to take a breath before Chilax Chuck three-bet shoved for his remaining 143,844 with Q♦6♦ and initial raiser kenny05 called with K♠9♦. Chilax Chuck took the lead on the A♠6♥3♥ flop when he made a pair of sixes, but kenny05 turned the K♦ to reclaim it. The river was the J♥ and Chilax Chuck hit the rail in fourth place.

As three-handed play commenced, AMAK316 was the short stack with 333,000... but he wouldn't stay there for long. With the blinds up to 20,000/40,000, ForTheSwaRMm made a small blind shove for 1.23 million and AMAK316 called all-in from the big blind. AMAK316's 9♣T♠ flopped a pair of nines vs. ForTheSwaRMm's Q♣4♠ and he doubled to 644,000. Six hands later, AMAK316 did it again, his A♣J♣ holding up against ForTheSwaRMm's J♦5♥ to take his stack up to 1.18 million.

On the next hand, ForTheSwaRMm open-shoved for 511,852 on the button and kenny05 called from the big blind. ForTheSwaRMm's Q♥J♣ did not improve vs. kenny05's A♦9♥ and he ended his run in third place.

The two quickly agreed to an ICM chop that awarded kenny05 $170,794.41 and AMAK316 $167,025.59. With $10,000 still to play for, cards went back in the air.

Kenny05 and AMAK316 only played two more hands. On the second, AMAK316 limped in for 25,000 on the button and kenny05 moved all-in for 1,533,786. AMAK316 called, his K♣9♣ up against A♥6♠. The board ran out A♦J♠5♦T♣4♣ and with a pair of aces, kenny05 locked up the win.
