SCOOP 2015: Re8uZ earns win in Event #30-M, Mikielewicz fourth ($109 NLHE)

A Team PokerStars Pro Online player and a SCOOP champ, just a couple of the hurdles the winner of Event #30-M had to clear. Grzegorz 'DaWarsaw' Mikielewicz was looking to claim his first watch as bencb789 was hoping for a second one. But, after two days of play, including eight hours on day two, Re8uZ would earn the victory and $84,576.87.

Only 173 out of the original 5,391 runners would return for day two led by piper_kl88 also claimed a SCOOP title last year (Event #15-M) and has a 2012 TCOOP final table to boot (Event #7 finishing in seventh place).

It was almost like you could hear Teddy KGB in the background saying one of Rounders famous lines "Hanging around hanging around. Kid's got alligator blood. Can't get rid of him". He's no kid but rather Team PokerStars Online Pro Grzegorz 'DaWarsaw' Mikielewicz. As the tournament's second day reached its fourth hour Mikielewicz was near the bottom of the chip count with 63 players left. Four hours later Grzegorz was still plugging away, looking for his first COOP title with only 24 players remaining.

However, he would need to outlast some SCOOP champions to get that watch. SCOOP 2014 Event #22-H champ bencb789 already has a final table in this year's event (fifth place in Event #21-M).

Shortly after day one chip leader piper_kl88 was knocked out in 18th place ($1,617.30) Grzegorz shed the underdog cape for a leader's one after winning a key flip and knocking out stevo1981521 in 17th place ($1,617.30). The million chip pot helped the Team Pro inch to an above average stack with the blinds at 20K/40K ante 5K.

The Polish pro continued his climb towards the final table after taking out Arnie_D, who chopped up a Super Tuesday, in 12th place ($3,234.60). Shortly afterwards, another Polish player, dulek_jason, would get a rude send off after flopping two pair against John_Fishboy. All the money would spill into the middle on the turn after which John_Fishboy turned over the nut straight. No pair on the river and dulek_jason started up hand-for-hand play in 11th place ($3,234.60).

Hand-for-hand play would not last long as scallpell and deoxyribo would flip preflop for a massive 4.3 million chip pot. Pocket jacks J♣J♦ for scallpell would face big slick for deoxyribo K♦A♠ as the blank T♠ 8♦ 7♠ 2♦ Q♣ board meant deoxyribo's online DNA would not move on to the final table below:

Seat 1: scallpell (5080604 in chips)
Seat 2: Team PokerStars Pro Online Grzegorz "DaWarsaw" Mikielewicz (2539062 in chips)
Seat 3: Tomika8808 (1803939 in chips)
Seat 4: vladislavius (1964605 in chips)
Seat 5: Re8uZ (2128242 in chips)
Seat 6: John_Fishboy (7086087 in chips)
Seat 7: bencb789 (695566 in chips)
Seat 8: Djoul28 (4302897 in chips)
Seat 9: julesdAA (1353998 in chips)

DaWarsaw draws first blood

Seven hands into the final table with the blinds up to 50K/100K ante 6,250 Grzegorz would min-raise from the cutoff as Supernova Elite Tomika8808 called from the button. Tomika8808 would call bets on the flop and turn as the river 5♠ 2♣ 5♦ K♣ Q♣ put a possible flush on board. Grzegorz would shove 1.8 million chips as Tomika8808 quickly called with an ace-high flush 7♣A♣. Unfortunately the Team Online Pro showed the flopped boat 2♦2♠ sending Tomika8808 off in ninth place ($4,312.80).

bencb789 gets closer to a second watch

Experience and pocket kings are usually tough to beat. Fresh off doubling-up off Djoul28, SCOOP champ bencb789 would add a 1.6 million chip pot as the table subtracted julesdAA in eighth place ($6,738.75).

Carving out the competition

Eight minutes after the eighth hourly break scallpell would vault into a commanding chip lead. First, a shortstacked vladislavius would shove just under a million chips over a min-raise by scallpell. The chip leader called with pocket sixes 6♥6♣ racing against vladislavius' J♠A♦. Quads Q♠ 6♠ 4♥ 5♠ 6♦ would hit the river instead of a four-card flush handing $12,129.75 to vladislavius in seventh place.

Three hands later some leveling preflop action between scallpell and John_Fishboy would send 10.9 million chips into the middle. Aces A♦A♥ for John_Fishboy left scallpell's kings K♥K♠ a little dejected until a king hit the flop Q♠ K♣ 5♥ 2♠ 4♠ shipping scallpell the huge pot and $17,520.75 to John_Fishboy in sixth place ($17,520.75).

Pockets kings strike again

The table did not lay down to scallpell's sizable lead as 35 minutes later DaWarsaw found kings at the right time. SCOOP champ bencb789 would raise from the cutoff as Mikielewicz three-bet from the big blind. Bencb789 shoved all-in for 2.7 million as Mikielewicz made the call holding K♠K♥. Pocket jacks J♥J♦ would not catch up on the 6♣ Q♥ 3♦ Q♦ 9♦
board as bencb789 barely missed a second SCOOP title in fifth place ($22,911.75).

Team PokerStars Pro Online Grzegorz Mikielewicz finishes in fourth place

No SCOOP watch for "DaWarsaw" as Mikielewicz failed to turn the corner four-handed from a shorter stack. With the blinds up to 70K/140K ante 17.5K Mikielewicz would min-raise from the cutoff as scallpell three-bet to 756K in the big blind. Holding Q♥A♦ Grzegorz would shove all-in for 3.9 million as scallpell quickly called with pocket queens Q♦Q♣. The saving ace never showed on the 6♥ K♥ 4♦ 3♠ 4♠ board as DaWarsaw claimed $30,459.15 in fourth place.

Two hands later scallpell would set up heads-up play.

While Re8uZ was trying to ask the exiting Team Pro Online player if he had pocket fives on a previous hand, scallpell was min-raising as Djoul28 made the call from the big blind. After a check-bet on the flop all of Djoul28's chips would go in on the K♠ 5♣ 7♠ 8♥ turn. For good reason as Djoul28 turned two pair K♥8♠ but was still trailing scallpell's flopped set of sevens 7♦7♣. No king nor an eight on the river 3♥ and Djoul28 earned $44,475.75 in third place.

Re8uz vs. scallpell

Right away Re8uZ offered an olive branch to chop up the funds with scallpell holding a 14.6 million to 12.2 million chip lead.

Re8uZ said, "u want to chop money?"
Re8uZ said, "scall?"
scallpell said, "no"
Re8uZ said, "and play for 6k and glory and watch?"
Re8uZ said, "ok gl"

They would play for 40 minutes as Re8uz took a lead early on and never let go.

With the blinds up to 19.6 million to 7.3 million and blinds at 100K/200K ante 25K scallpell would raise to 600K as Re8uZ called to see the 4♦4♥7♠ flop. Re8uZ would check-raise to a million but scallpell made the call. An ace A♦ on the turn and Re8uZ led out for 1.6 million and scallpell called again. Ten T♦ on the river and Re8uZ pushed in enough to cover scallpell's stack. Holding A♥J♥ scallpell made the call as Re8uZ turned over 3♣4♣ for the Event #30-M winning trips earning $84,576.87!
