2016 SCOOP starts Sunday!

The air is crisp, the sky is blue, and the birds are chirping. It's springtime in the northern hemisphere, and there is no better time to be outside.

Now, forget all of that stuff about being outside, because there is something more important: the Spring Championship of Online Poker begins Sunday!

Once Sunday comes, poker players have every reason to draw the curtains, turn off all distractions, and focus on more than 160 tournaments over the course of two weeks. Running May 8-22, SCOOP will be the biggest and richest tournament festival you'll find online. Each of the the events has a low, medium, and high buy-in tournament. You can play one level or play them all.

Before those weeks are finished, PokerStars will pay out more than $40,000,000 in guaranteed prize money including at least $7,000,000 in the three Main Events on May 22.

If you're in for the whole two weeks, you'll have a good chance to compete for the Player of the Series race. All of the buy-in levels will have their own contests with cash and tournament ticket prizes. What's more, the overall winner will get $20,000 in cash and a Player of the Series trophy.

You won't be the only one fighting for a leaderboard prize. Team PokerStars Pro is going to be battling each other during the festival. BetStars has Jason Mercier as the favorite, but there are lots of people ready to unseat last year's overall leader board winner.

We have assembled a huge team to cover every final table for the PokerStars Blog. Along the way, we'll also look in on some of the best champion stories we can find.

You still have time to start qualifying for SCOOP tournaments on the cheap. There are SCOOP satellites running all the time starting for as little as $0.11 or 1 StarsCoin. Also keep an eye out for special VIP events. You can read more about all of the above at the SCOOP Frequently Asked Questions page.

For all you need to know about SCOOP, its schedule, and its player of the series race, visit the 2016 Spring Championship of Online Poker home page.

Happy springtime!
