SCOOP 2016: Chillolini Adds 2nd COOP in Event #3-M ($215 NL Draw)
The opening day of the 2016 Spring Championship of Online Poker wasn't a strictly No Limit Hold'em affair. The third tournament on the schedule featured a little No Limit Five-Card Draw event, not unlike the game played at kitchen tables around the world.
The medium buy-in version of the tournament had a $25,000 guaranteed prize pool which was more than doubled when 224 players paid the $215 entry price plus another 62 re-entries. The prize pool reached $57,200 with the last 36 getting paid and $12,584 set aside for the eventual champion.
Four-time COOP runner-up EDWARDHOPPER went out in 37th after more than seven hours of action to put the remaining players in the money. Naoya "nkeyno" Kihara was the sole member of Team PokerStars to earn a payout but the WSOP bracelet winner only grabbed a min-cash.
Dzmitry "colisea" Urbanovich was aiming for his fourth COOP title but dropped out with two tables remaining, the $886 payout providing a tiny profit after he fired the maximum four bullets into the tournament. Erik "Popiedejopie" van den Berg had a chance to notch himself a rare Triple COOP crown with WCOOP and TCOOP wins (plus a bonus Sunday Million title) already to his credit, but he was another big name to fall short of the final table when he was eliminated in ninth place.
Andrey "Kroko-dill" Zaichenko set up the final table bubble when the three-time COOP champ was knocked out in eighth place. It was 2013 TCOOP champion PSMozak hitting the rail in seventh place to move the tournament down to the final table and pause action for the evening nine hours after kicking things off.
Calvin "cal42688" Anderson holds more SCOOP titles than any other player with six wins and his additional two WCOOP titles have him tied with Shaun Deeb for most total COOP titles. Anderson was the 2014 SCOOP Player of the Year and put himself in a position to add another trophy to his mantle when he went on the extended break with the lead.
Anderson wasn't the only player with past success to make their way to the final table. He had to contend with former Sunday Million champion Joao Mathias "joaoMathias" Baumgarten and his more than $7.5 million in career earnings while Chilloni was seeking a SCOOP victory to match his Seven-Card Stud Hi/Lo WCOOP win this past September.

Lil Phaak can't float a boat, eliminated in 6th
Lil Phaak came to the final table with the smallest stack and found a nice hand to try for the double up. He moved all-in after SnowWindOFF min-raised from under the gun and picked up a call.
ShowWindOFF drew two cards while Lil Phaak followed up by drawing one, but soon found out how thin of a draw it was. SnowWindOFF tabled A♦A♣A♠8♥3♣ and his trip aces were good against Lil Phaak's two pair 8♠6♦6♣4♣4♥ to send the first player off the final table.
SnowWindOFF doubles straight through Anderson
There was plenty of play left in the five remaining stacks when SnowWindOFF and Calvin Anderson put in a series of bets which saw ShowWindOFF all-in. It was a rare six-bet shove from SnowWindOFF that finished the deal, with a few abandoned chips in there from joaoMathias, and it was time to draw.
Anderson drew two then showed his trip jacks J♦J♦J♣A♠3♣ but ShowWindOFF was pretty comfortable standing pat with his dealt straight Q♣J♥T♠9♥8♦ to double up. The hand put him into the lead while Anderson dropped down to the short stack.
joaoMathias runs out of time, eliminated in 5th
Joao Mathias "joaoMathias" Baumgarten has won a lot of money playing online poker tournaments, including a big Sunday Million title, but still looking for a COOP victory. His run in this tournament came to an end when he three-bet shoved his ten big blind stack after politm69 opened from the button.
Baumgarten drew three cards but couldn't improve his aces with A♣A♠7♠6♦3♠ while politm69 showed a better hand with two pair J♥J♠8♦8♣K♦ to send the Brazilian out in 5th place for $3,432.
Anderson denied ninth COOP
The blinds added up quickly at a four-handed table and Calvin "cal42688" Anderson found himself down to only 11 big blinds late. He moved them into the middle from the big blind after politm69 opened the action.
The bet was called and Anderson drew three cards, the same coming from politm69. Anderson couldn't improve his small pair and tabled 6♥6♠8♣3♥2♠ which was second best to politm69's J♣J♥9♥8♦4♣. Anderson was looking for his record-breaking ninth COOP title but fell short in 4th place.

politm69 blinded down and out in 3rd
politm69's stack was all over the place at the final table, building higher with big hands before getting ground back down to a short stack, then repeat again. The Romanian found another double at the three-handed final table but those chips didn't stay around very long.
He moved all-in with a big pair after a Chillolini open and drew three after getting a call. Chilloni stood pat with his dealt flush K♣Q♣J♣9♣5♣ to beat politm69's drawn trip jacks J♦J♥J♠K♠8♦. politm69 hit his hand but had to settle for 3rd place money.
Chillolini outlasts SnowWindOFF to add second COOP title
Seat 4: Chillolini (1,889,872 in chips)
Seat 6: SnowWindOFF (970,128 in chips)
Blinds: 16K/32K with 8K Ante
Former WCOOP champion Chillolini began heads-up play with a significant chip lead and SnowWindOFF was unable to find a way back. The match was over after 23 hands and it was a five-card draw cooler.
SnowWindOFF opened for a min-raise on the button, Chillolini three-bet to 160,000 to get a call to the draw, and they each drew three cards before Chillolini put SnowWindOFF all-in. SnowWindOFF called with the big pair K♥K♣T♠4♥2♦ but was behind the improved A♦A♥J♠J♣4♦ of Chillolini. Until we see the final table replay, we won't know what draw Chillolini hit but it was good enough to add a SCOOP title to the Norwegian's WCOOP title from September.
