SCOOP 2016: Swart nails $280K victory in Event #27-H ($2,100 NLHE, 6-Max)

Brian "tsarrast" Rast has certainly started the 2016 Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) with a flair. The high stakes player with over $16 million in live earnings made his virtual presence felt the last few days during the high stakes events. The $2,100 Event #27-H 6-max tournament was no different making the final table. Rast and Andries "Pokerger1337" Swart would try to fend off huiiiiiiiiii's massive stack three-handed. Swart would undo hours of huiiiiiiiii's work in two hands but Rast would fall in third place. After an intense heads-up match Swart would tip the scales and go on to win the title and $280,080.00.

Read on below for the full final table story.

Day One survivors included three Red Spades. Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov and (becoming a habit during SCOOP competition) Jason Mercier along with Team PokerStars Online Pro Marc-Andre "FrenchDawg" Ladouceur. However, the trio representing PokerStars would fall before the final table around the same time finishing in 26th (Katchalov), 29th (Ladouceur), and 31st (Mercier) place.

Getting closer to the final table Andrey "Kroko-dill" Zaichenko who is a TCOOP title short of both the Triple -COOP and PokerStars Grand Slam finished in 19th place ($10,892.00) and Fabrizio 'SixthSenSe19' Gonzalez, who is one of 13 players seeking the Triple -COOP in this series, would finish close again after making the Event #18-L final table, finishing here in 11th place ($20,228.00).

Five hours into Day Two with eight players left SwalzB, a regular at the Super Tuesday final table, tried betting huiiiiiiiiii off a turned nut flush, but the Austrian wisely stayed in the hand taking down a sizable 1.7 million chip pot and starting up hand-for-hand play.

Huiiiiiiiiii was not finished there as seven hands later the spotlights came on for the final table. With the blinds at 14K/28K ante 3.5K huiiiiiiiiii raised to 62K on the button as Brian "tsarrast" Rast folded the small blind but ThoNapalm was having none of that and three-bet to 214K. After a couple more back-and-forth raises ThoNapalm would call all-in holding pocket queens Q♠Q♣. Normally a superior spot at a three-handed table, but huiiiiiiiiii turned up kings K♠K♥ for the massive cooler and skipped through the 5♥ A♣ 7♣ J♠ 5♣ board to start up the final table below:

Seat 1: Brian "tsarrast" Rast (2844286 in chips)
Seat 2: deuces85 (1188363 in chips)
Seat 3: Andries "Pokerger1337" Swart (2583414 in chips)
Seat 4: qbgoose (656640 in chips)
Seat 5: huiiiiiiiiii (5304702 in chips)
Seat 6: Damianos "damourinio" Aslanidis (2982595 in chips)

Starting up with 14K/28K ante 3.5K blinds the chip leader huiiiiiiiiii would be looking to improve on a third place finish in SCOOP 2015 Event #34-M taking third.

Deuces85 already has a final table at this series in Event #7-H (earning $11,647.95 in ninth place) along with bubbling the final table of Event #21-M yesterday.

Andries "Pokerger1337" Swart has a Super Tuesday win from 2012 and is also making a second final table appearance at SCOOP 2016 after leaving Event #18-H as the runner-up earning $102K.

Qbgoose has a final table at TCOOP earning $9K in 2014's Event #19.

Damianos "damourinio" Aslanidis won the Sunday Million earlier this year for $155K and will be looking to add another notch towards the PokerStars Grand Slam.

25 minutes into the final table action with the blinds moving up to 16K/32K ante 4K the short-stacked qbgoose would shove 362,255 from the button getting a call from huiiiiiiiiii who has added a couple of million to that chip leading count. The long shot would start the hand in a commanding position as qbgoose showed 8♥A♦ to huiiiiiiiiii's 6♣A♣. But, a flopped six plus nut-kicking eight of clubs on the river (which made a flush) 7♣ 6♥ J♣ 4♠ 8♣ would send qbgoose off with $46,680.00 in sixth place.

Brian Rast has quite the following on Twitter (and might be the reason for over 2,000 railbirds) noting yesterday: "2 days playing, an 8th and 9th from first of day SCOOPS & 3/60 in chips in 2100$6max for tomorrow. Very pleased with my play #WSOPwarmup".

Rast would get another pay bump after huiiiiiiiiii decided the table was getting too crowded. First hand back from the sixth hourly break with the blinds holding, deuces85 would min-raise from the button as the chip leader made the call. A couple of sevens on the flop K♦7♦7♣ and huiiiiiiiiii checked as deuces85 continued with a 62,600 chip bet. Huiiiiiiiiii check-raised to 177,744 as deuces85 shoved for 679,974. Feeling something good in the air (and having a pile of chips) huiiiiiiiiii made the call with a flush draw 9♦6♦ facing deuces85's top pair J♠K♠. The flush draw did not get there, but a six on the turn 6♣ and river 6♥ ruined deuces85 chance at a SCOOP title earning $77,800.00 in fifth place.

With huiiiiiiiiii holding nearly 60 percent of the chips in play, the chip leader punished the table with constant raises, occasionally handing out a small double-up. But, 15 minutes before the seventh hourly break with the blinds up to 25K/50K ante 6,250 huiiiiiiiiii would score the third consecutive knockout. Damianos "damourinio" Aslanidis scored one of those double-ups four hands ago and went fishing for a second one with pocket queens Q♥Q♦ and 1,373,634 chips. Huiiiiiiiiii's 9.47 million chip stack and A♥J♦ was enough for the call. The ladies however would not make it beyond the flop after an ace appeared in the door A♦ 8♦ T♥ 6♠ 3♦. Aslanidis walked away with the first six-figure score ($108,920.00) in fourth place.

Shortly after the break two things happened in rapid succession.

First, Andries "Pokerger1337" Swart would break through huiiiiiiiiii's wall of chips after taking back-to-back 2.8 million and 7.9 million chip pots to take over the temporary chip lead.

Then, on the third hand huiiiiiiiiii took the frustration out on Brian Rast. With the blinds holding at 25K/50K ante 6,250 huiiiiiiiiii would min-raise from the button as Rast shoved 1.62 million from the small blind. Swart would fold while sorting his newly found stack as huiiiiiiiiii made the call with pocket sixes 6♣6♠. Rast turned over Q♦T♦ and while the nines on the flop were promising, the turned six 9♠ 3♥ 9♦ 6♥ K♠ was not as Brian "tsarrast" Rast received $155,600.00 in third place.

While a third of the railbirds moved on, over 1,600 of them stayed on to see a much tighter race towards the Event #27-H title. Swart would take a small 7.8 to 7.7 million chip lead into heads-up play.

At the eighth hourly break with the blinds up to 35K/70K ante 8,750 Swart took the chip lead 11.5 million to 3.99 million during the hour on the back of a couple of five million chip pots and dishing out the aggression that huiiiiiiiiii did for most of the final table. Despite a small amount of banter by Swart, there were no chop talks so the $280,080.00 up top remained available.

Swart kept the lead throughout the hour, never letting go of the sizable advantage as the two played 40 minutes until huiiiiiiiiii took a shot preflop by check-raising all-in. With the blinds up to 40K/80K ante 10K Swart would raise to 240K over a limp by huiiiiiiiiii. The former chip leader would shove for 1.52 million holding pocket sixes 6♣6♠ but Swart had a couple pips better, calling with nines 9♣9♠. The nines would hold on the 2♥ Q♦ A♣ T♣ 3♣ board declaring Andries "Pokerger1337" Swart the SCOOP 2016 Event #27-H champion winning $280,080.00!
