Keyzerrr went on a roll & earned $255,806.90 for the Sunday Million win

Sunday Million logo.jpgThe day before Valentine's Day is Sunday, the biggest day of the poker week. Apologies for gifts that didn't get purchased today because of online poker, though anyone watching their significant other late into the night can likely expect an even better gift. Chocolates be damned, show poker players the money! Still, it might be a good idea to get those roses with some of that profit.

This week, the Sunday Million found a solid group of 8,695 players in the mix, all looking for their share of the $1.5 million guarantee. And when the prize pool was tallied, it came to a much prettier $1,739,000 sum of cash, which was to be distributed to the top 1,260 players in the tournament and award more than $255K to the ultimate winner.

When the money kicked in after a few hours of play, there were only four PokerStars representatives remaining in the field. The first of them to depart the virtual tables was Team PokerStars Pro Marcello del Grosso, who left in 539th place. He was followed by Vanessa Selbst in 392nd place and Dag Palovic in 386th. Still fighting was Dusty "Leatherass9" Schmidt for Team Online, and he ultimately exited the tournament in 111th place.

From there, it took another few hours to get to the final table bubble. And with hand-for-hand in full effect, it was over.be who shoved all-in with 7♥4♠, but gtowneagles called from the big blind with 9♠9♦. That pair only improved on the T♦2♣A♣5♠2♦ board, and over.be was out of the tournament in tenth place with $9,216.70.

Pink_outs in front of the pack

At the very end of Level 36, with blinds at 200,000/400,000 and a 40,000 ante, the final table was undersay, new member of Team Online Shane "shaniac" Schleger welcomed the nine competitors. The players' starting chip stacks were as follows:

Seat 1: rjmgrace (5,273,377 in chips)
Seat 2: zoro457 (6,297,192 in chips)
Seat 3: JPizzle107 (3,840,071 in chips)
Seat 4: gtowneagles (10,330,032 in chips)
Seat 5: richiebro (13,034,584 in chips)
Seat 6: bubbahee (4,310,827 in chips)
Seat 7: HCGrinder (5,582,640 in chips)
Seat 8: keyzerrr (13,918,892 in chips)
Seat 9: pink_outs (24,362,385 in chips)

It only took five hands for the shortest stack at the table to make a move. Bubbahee started with a raise, but JPizzle107 pushed all-in from the small blind, and the call was made. JPizzle107 showed A♥J♥, but bubbahee was ahead with K♦K♥. The dealer made it interesting with a 3♣4♥4♣ flop and 5♣ turn, but the 8♠ on the river blanked and left JPizzle107 fizzled out in ninth with $13,477.25 to show for it.

After the first break in the action, zoro457 doubled through gtowneagles to stay in the game.

Shortly thereafter, a big hand developed. It started with short-stacked rjmgrace pushing all-in from early position, but eyebrows were raised when zoro457 moved all-in over the top for just less than 8 million chips. And richiebro did the same, and that all-in move prompted the other players to get out of the way. Richiebro showed A♥K♥, rjmgrace turned over 9♠5♥, and zoro457 had 8♠8♦. The 2♥K♣9♥J♥6♣ board not only started richiebro with the pair of kings but turned that hand into a heart flush, just in time for Valentine's Day. That knocked out rjmgrace in eighth place with $19,129.00 and zoro457 in seventh place with $34,780.00.

Battle for the chip lead

The next player to risk it all was the one on the short stack, bubbahee. The all-in move came from the small blind with 9♣9♠, but HCGrinder called from the big blind with K♠9♥. The flop was an "ohhh" inducing K♦4♣K♣ that gave HCGrinder the advantage, and the 7♣ turn and 3♦ river let it be. That eliminated bubbahee in sixth place with $52,170.00.

With that, HCGrinder was in the top spot.

Two hands later, action started with a raise from richiebro and call from keyzerrr, but gtowneagles came over the top from the big blind with the all-in move. Both players called, which led to the 7♠J♣Q♦ flop. Richiebro bet, and keyzerrr called all-in with K♥J♥. Richiebro showed 4♠4♥, and gtowneagles flipped over K♠T♣. The jacks were in the lead for keyzerrr, and that hand remained out front when the 7♣ and K♦ finished the hand. Keyzerrr doubled up, richiebro took a big hit, and gtowneagles was gone in fifth place with $69,560.00 in prize money.

Play really slowed as the clock showed entrance into the eleventh hour of the tournament. Pink_outs and keyzerrr were aggressive when the time was right, but the shorter stacks couldn't seem to find spots to make moves.

Finally, HCGrinder got involved with keyzerrr to see a flop that came J♠9♥J♦. HCGrinder bet, keyzerrr raised all-in, and HCGrinder called with his tournament life riding on K♠Q♠ and the straight draw. Keyzerrr showed A♦9♦ for the two pair, which held up to the 4♥ turn and 6♥ river. That left HCGrinder out of the game in fourth place with $86,950.00.

It didn't take long from there to see richiebro make his move as well. It happened with A♥6♠ against the K♥K♣ of keyzerrr, and though the 6♥4♠3♠ provided hope, the 8♦ and J♠ that completed the board erased it. That eliminated richiebro in third place with $130,425.00.

UK versus Russia in final showdown

The last two players standing were no strangers to large chip stacks throughout the latter stages of the tournament, and keyzerrr climbed into the chip lead by eliminating the last two players. Their starting counts were:

Seat 8: keyzerrr (Russia) (55,558,725 in chips)
Seat 9: pink_outs (United Kingdom) (31,391,275 in chips)

Over the course of the first few rounds, pink_outs closed the gap, though, and came within 2.7 million chips at the 11.5-hour mark. Several hands after play resumed, pink_outs was in the lead.

The two seemed to tire of trading blinds, and keyzerrr made a move to put pink_outs to the test. This was the result:

With keyzerrr back in the lead, they battled again on the very next hand. First, they went to see a flop of 5♥7♣9♥, at which point keyzerrr bet and pink_outs raised all-in for nearly 38.5 million chips. Keyzerrr called with 5♦7♦ for the flopped two pair, which was far in front of the Q♠9♠ of pink_outs and the pair of nines. The K♣ on the turn and J♦ on the river ended the match about 25 minutes after it began. Pink_outs took second place, for which the corresponding prize was $186,942.50.

Keyzerrr won the Sunday Million title and $255,806.90 in cash. Congratulations!
