Sunday Million: FONBET_RULIT rolls over Leqenden, wins $168k

Sunday Million logo NEW.PNGFONBET_RULIT never held the chip lead until it really mattered. Starting off in the middle of the pack, he could have easily finished ninth or fifth tonight, but wiggled out of two tough spots to survive. Despite a significant chip disadvantage heads-up, FONBET_RULIT knocked off former chip leader Lequenden and shipped his first Sunday Million title, along with more than $168,000.

5,986 Sunday grinders ponied up for the Million, creating a $1,197,200.00 prize pool. 855 players earned a share of it with first place set to earn $185,568.88. Fifteen members of the Red Spade army were in today's field including Victor Ramdin, Shane "shaniac" Schleger, Nacho Barbero and Celina Lin. Three finished in the money: Martin Staszko (739th), Jude Ainsworth (558th), and Angel Guillen, who was eliminated in 421st place.

With ten players remaining, blinds were up to 80,000/160,000 and HarryBierdop was down to only 576,000 in chips. He found Q♦4♠ on the button and open-shoved, but CHINESE30 looked him up from the small blind with J♦T♦. The K♠9♣7♦ flop was safe enough, but the T♠ on the turn gave CHINESE30 the lead with second pair. The board paired kings on the river and HarryBierdop was out on the final table bubble, earning $6,943.76.

Final table chip counts:

Seat 1: rajako (3,425,470 in chips)

Seat 4: CHINESE30 (5,380,255 in chips)

Seat 6: NoHayMiedo* (12,770,212 in chips)

Seat 9: GulMåndag (5,266,316 in chips)

NNNQQQ hits the slot machine, CHINESE30 and TeriePower18 eliminated

NNNQQQ started off the final table with a double-up, his A♦Q♠ rivering an ace against CHINESE30's pocket sevens. Down to 3.25 million in chips, CHINESE30 went for a squeeze raise against Leqenden and FONBET_RULIT, three-bet shoving from the big blind with A♥K♦. Leqenden gave up his hand, but FONBET_RULIT called, turning over A♠Q♠. FONBET_RULIT flopped the nut flush draw and filled it on the river, the board running out T♠8♥4♠J♣3♠ to end CHINESE30's run in ninth place.

NNNQQQ looked like he was headed for the rail when he ran 7♦7♥ into TeriePower18's A♥A♠, but NNNQQQ flopped a set to double to 4.17 million. TeriePower18 was left with 3 million and shipped them in with A♦3♠, but FONBET_RULIT woke up with A♣K♣ in the big blind. FONBET_RULIT's dominating hand held up and TeriePower18 exited in eighth place, earning $14,965.00.

GulMandag gutted, NoMasFichas for NoHayMiedo*

The blinds rose to 200,000/400,000 and GulMandag decided to pull the trigger for his last 4 million, three-bet shoving behind EMPTY1SEAT's opening min-raise. EMPTY1SEAT quickly called with A♣Q♦, his hand holding up against GulMandag's A♦4♠. For seventh place, GulMandag picked up $26,338.40.

NoHayMiedo* had no fear when it came to three-bet shoving for his remaining 6.5 million with A♦8♥, but Leqenden practically beat him into the pot with 8♠8♦. The J♦5♥2♦T♦2♥ board couldn't save NoHayMiedo* and he departed in sixth place, earning $38,310.40.

FONBET_RULIT gets lucky against rajako

FONBET_RULIT found himself in hot water when he open-shoved Q♥8♣ from the small blind and rajako called all-in with A♦7♥. However, the Russian squirmed out of this tight spot when the flop fell Q♣5♥2♥ to make him top pair. Rajako picked up a ray of hope with the 7♦ on the turn, but the river blanked with the J♠, sending rajako to the rail in fifth place. Rajako collected $50,282.40 for his performance.

No deal

Immediately following rajako's elimination, the final four agreed to pause the action to discuss a potential deal. Final table host Tyler "frosty012" Frost presented the players with chip count chop and ICM numbers, and while FONBET_RULIT, EMPTY1SEAT and NNNQQQ agreed to the ICM deal, big stack Leqenden wouldn't settle for anything less than a $155,000 share. Leqenden asked his opponents to give up $3,000 apiece to get him to that number, but FONBET_RULIT and EMPTY1SEAT balked at the suggestion. With negotiations at a standstill, cards went back in the air.

NNNQQQ eliminated in 4th, EMPTY1SEAT bows out in 3rd

With ten big blinds remaining and the action folded to him in the small blind, NNNQQQ made a standard shove with J♦7♦ but unluckily ran into Leqenden, lying in wait with A♥A♠ in the big blind. NNNQQQ did not improve and was eliminated in fourth place, taking home $67,222.78. Straight away, Leqenden offered to take $160,000 in a deal, but FONBET_RULIT wasn't having it. FONBET_RULIT, however, didn't have too long a wait before getting heads-up with his foe. A few hands later, EMPTY1SEAT shoved for 9.1 million with 3♣3♠ and FONBET_RULIT snap-called with J♠J♣. EMPTY1SEAT could not find another three and hit the rail in third place, collecting $96,973.20.

Heads-up chip counts:

Seat 5: Leqenden (37,482,219 in chips)
Seat 8: FONBET_RULIT (22,377,781 in chips)

Leqenden and FONBET_RULIT immediately paused the action and took another stab at making a deal. This time, they agreed to an ICM chop that left $20,000 in play for the winner.

When action resumed, FONBET_RULIT went to work, making some well-timed three-bets to grind his way up to a small chip lead. Remaining steady and patient, FONBET_RULIT finally pulled away on this pot, where Leqenden folded to his river bet:

The tables now turned, Leqenden attempted to regain his advantage in one fell swoop, three-bet shoving for 19.6 million with Q♣K♥. FONBET_RULIT called with 9♠9♥. Leqenden couldn't pull out the double-up, the board running out A♣T♦8♦8♠3♦ to lock up FONBET_RULIT's Sunday Million title.

Congratulations to FONBET_RULIT on a come-from-behind victory in this week's Sunday Million. He score $168,360.86 for the win, while Leqenden earned $154,886.02 for his runner-up finish.
