Sunday Million: Flush098765 runs down EDWARDHOPPER, banks $194k

June's final Sunday Million came down to a formidable final three. Flush098765 has a MTT C.V. as long as your arm, JohnnyDepp has final table appearances in the Sunday Warm-Up and SCOOP and EDWARDHOPPER is another familiar face at major online events, notching runner-up finishes in the Super Tuesday, WCOOP, and two SCOOP events. Although EDWARDHOPPER was no doubt looking to put an end to his string of bridesmaid finishes, Flush098765 ultimately took top honors tonight and added over $194,000 to his bankroll at a final table where the word "deal" never passed anyone's lips.

6,385 players bought in to this week's Million, creating a $1,277,000 prize pool. 990 places were paid with first place set to earn $194,213.70. With many of the Team Pros in the U.S. grinding the World Series of Poker, the field was a little light on Red Spades, with only five joining the action. Caio Pessagno, Martin Hruby, Richard Toth, and Lex Veldhuis all busted before the money bubble, while Stavros "IDOLLS" Kalfas cashed in 224th place.

Blinds were up to 100,000/200,000 with ten players remaining and profi99999 was the shortest stack at only 1.46 million. Facing a min-raise from Merceko, profi99999 looked down at 5♠5♥ and shoved, but Merceko snap-called with T♣T♦. Merceko flopped top set, ending profi99999's run on the final table bubble.

JohnnyDepp cracks jacks, flops the nuts

Chips were flying on the first hand of the final table. JohnnyDepp opened for 480,000 and babbelz three-bet shoved for 2.64 million on the button. JohnnyDepp called, his 7♦7♠ in dire shape against babbelz's J♠J♥. However, the Q♣7♣2♥ flop saved the day for JohnnyDepp making him a set of sevens. Babbelz couldn't catch his two-outer and departed in ninth place, earning $9,896.75.

Silberrück15 fell on hard times when he lost a coinflip to OnkelAqua, his T♣T♠ falling to A♦Q♣ when OnkelAqua turned an ace. Left with only five big blinds, Silberrück15 three-bet shoved for 1.46 million with A♣7♦ and initial raiser JohnnyDepp called with a dominated A♥3♥. But once again, JohnnyDepp wiggled his way out of trouble when the flop fell Q♥J♥2♥ giving him the nut flush! Silberrück15 was drawing dead and exited in eighth place, scoring $15,324.00.

Flush098765 takes the chip lead

Silberrück15's elimination left only two short stacks in the field-- WeiTei with 1.86 million and icrywhenipee with 885,000. The former got a reprieve when Flush098765 called his 1.83 million button shove with 2♣2♥ in the big blind. WeiTei turned up A♠8♦ and rivered an ace to double to 4.18 million.

A few hands later the blinds rose to 200,000/400,000 and, the action folded to Flush098765 in the small blind. He opened for 825,000 with A♠6♣ and Merceko three-bet to 2,000,000. Flush098765 shoved for 12.9 million and Merceko called, revealing J♠J♥. However, Flush098765 caught an ace on the flop, snapping off Merceko's jacks and sending him to the rail in seventh place ($28,094). Flush098765 raked in the 21.3m pot and took the chip lead with 23.7 million.

Meanwhile, icrywhileipee was still holding it. Facing the 400,000 big blind on the next hand, icrywhenipee open-shoved for 1.28 million from UTG and OnkelAqua called from the small blind. Although icrywhenipee's A♠K♣ domingated OnkelAqua's A♥Q♦, a queen hit the flop and another came on the river, making OnkelAqua trip queens. Icrywhenipee hit the rail in sixth place, collecting $40,864.00.

Flush098765 flummoxes JohnnyDepp, EDWARDHOPPER doubles

WeiTei was still hanging on with a short stack as play turned five-handed. With 5.3 million behind, WeiTei picked up A♥8♦ and moved all-in from the cutoff. Flush098765 called with A♦9♣ from the small blind and his kicker played on the Q♣5♦2♣T♥J♥, ending WeiTei's run in fifth place ($53,634).

With the field down to four, Flush098765 had a dominating chip lead with 31.6 million. JohnnyDepp was second in chips with 16.1 million, OnkelAqua held 10.1 million and EDWARDHOPPER was the short stack with 6.1 million.

EDWARDHOPPER raided JohnnyDepp's stack when he four-bet shoved with A♥K♥, and JohnnyDepp looked him up with A♠8♠. For once, the dominating hand held and EDWARDHOPPER doubled to 12.4 million.

The blinds rose to 250,000/500,000 and with 14.3 million behind, JohnnyDepp opened K♦2♦ for 1.2 million. Flush098765 smooth-called and they saw a 9♦7♦5♥ flop. Flush098765 checked, JohnnyDepp made a 1 million continuation bet with his king-high flush draw, and Flush098765 raised to 2.35 million. JohnnyDepp called and the 8♠ hit the turn. Flush098765 led out for 2.85 million and JohnnyDepp called. The 6♣ on the river put a nine-high straight on the board and Flush098765 set JohnnyDepp all-in for his remaining 7.88 million. After a bit of a think, JohnnyDepp called and played the board, but Flush098765 had him one better, his Q♣T♦ making a ten-high straight. JohnnyDepp was suddenly on the rail in fourth place, collecting $70.235.00.

OnkelAqua takes the lead only to go out in third

Holding steady with 16.5 million in chips, OnkelAqua opened for a 3x raise to 1.5 million on the button and Flush098765 called. Both players checked the T♥4♣3♣ flop, but when the 2♣ came on the turn, Flush098765 led out for 1,645,852. OnkelAqua shoved for 14.9 million and Flush098765 called.

OnkelAqua A♠T♣
Flush098765 8♠T♠

Flush098765's top pair was in kicker trouble and OnkelAqua secured the double up when the 5♦ hit the river. OnkelAqua moved into the chip lead with 33.3 million while Flush098765 fell to 18.3 million.

OnkelAqua's stint at the top didn't last long, however, He ran 4♦4♣ into Flush098765's 5♥5♠ and doubled him up to 33 million, then took his A♠6♥ up against EDWARDHOPPERs A♥J♠. The dominating hand held and OnkelAqua fell to only 9.9 million in chips.

Only a few hands later, Flush098765 opened for a min-raise to 1.2 million from the small blind and OnkelAqua moved all-in for 9.75 million. Flush098765 called, his A♣Q♣ dominated by OnkelAqua's A♥K♦. However, a queen hit the flop and Flush098765 ended OnkelAqua's run in third place, good for a six-figure payday of $102,160.00.

Heads-up chip counts

Seat 7: EDWARDHOPPER (22,959,380 in chips)
Seat 8: Flush098765 (40,890,620 in chips)

Flush098765 brought nearly a two to one chip lead into heads-up play and ground his stack past the 50 million mark in a series of small pots. Then, in the first showdown pot of the match, Flush098765 saw his pocket jacks improve to a king-high straight, good for 9.9 million in chips:

Left with only 4.15 million, EDWARDHOPPER doubled to 8.3 million when T♦5♠ held against 9♦5♦. Then, with the blinds up to 400,000/800,000, EDWARDHOPPER shoved for 5.5 million with Q♦3♣. Flush098765 gave action with J♠9♦, but EDWARDHOPPER's queen high held up, good for another double-up to 11.1 million.

A few hands later, EDWARDHOPPER looked down at K♥7♠ on the button and open-shoved for 10.2 million. Flush098765 woke up with A♣K♦ in the big blind and called, the board running out Q♥J♣2♠A♦5♠ to lock up the win.

Congratulations to Flush098765 on an outstanding final table performance and his first Sunday Million title. He banked $194,231.70 for the win while runner-up EDWARDHOPPER had to settle for another second place (although $143,662.50 will certainly cushion the blow).
