emjkemjk banks $220k in wild Sunday Million finish

With eleven players remaining, emjkemjk was up to 24 million and controlled one-third of the chips in play. Even after running pocket tens into vlem99's pocket aces, he still had 20.6 million left. But then emjkemjk doubled up djc79797. Then he doubled djc79797 again. And finally, he doubled up vlem99, losing a 19 million AK<33 coinflip that reduced his stack to 5.7 million. But just as quickly as he lost control, emjkemjk regained it, picking up pocket aces to double back up two hands later. Two orbits later, pocket jacks doubled him to 18.5 million and emjkemjk advanced to the final table as the chip leader. Emjkemjk laid low until play turned five-handed then pounced, taking out three opponents in the final four hands to lock up his first Sunday Million win.

This week's Million drew 7,355 players to the felt, the prize pool topping out at $1,471,000.00. The top 1,080 places were paid, with first place set to earn $220,650.00. Eleven Red Spades were in the mix including Jake Cody, Maxim Lykov, Joe Cada, and final table host Naoya "nkeyno" Kihara. However, the only one to finish in the money was Team Online's Caio Pessagno, who went out in 233rd place.

Blinds were up to 150,000/300,000 with ten players remaining. Down to only five big blinds, NANIWAR three-bet shoved for 1.58 million over AnndriaNN's 600,000 open. AnndriaNN quickly called, his A♥8♦ dominating NANIWAR's 8♠9♠. AnndriaNN hit a pair of aces on the flop and NANIWAR was drawing dead by the turn.

sunamivolk battles kinglune, djc79797 eliminated in ninth

Sunamivolk arrived at the final table with the second-shortest stack and soon put the rest of his chips at risk. All the money went in on a A♦K♣4♦ flop, sunamivolk's K♦Q♦ trailing kinglune's 4♥4♣. Although sunamivolk missed his nut flush draw, he backdoored a straight when the T♠ turned and the J♥ rivered. Sunamivolk doubled to 11.9 million, leaving kinglune on only 3.45 million.

Next to put his tournament life on the line was djc79797, who picked up T♥T♣ and moved in for 4.14 million over AnndriaNN's opening min-raise. However, djc79797 ran headlong into AnndriaNN's K♣K♥. Djc79797 did not improve and he was eliminated in ninth place ($11,400.25).

Kinglune fell below 10BB before at last he was dealt Q♥Q♣ and moved in for 3.15 million. Sunamivolk reshoved one spot behind him and turned up A♥Q♠. Kinglune's queens held up on the T♠6♦4♠9♣K♦ board and he doubled to 7.1 million, turning the tables and reducing sunamivolk to 5.7 million.

NigDawG out in eighth

With only 1.65 million left at the 250,000/500,000, NigDawG barely had a claw to hang on with. The action folded to him in the cutoff and he moved in with J♦8♠, AnndriaNN answering with a call from the big blind with A♦5♦. AnndriaNN's ace-high held up and NigDawG bowed out in eighth place, collecting $17,652.00.

sunamivolk sunk in seventh

Three hands later, sunamivolk open-shoved for 4.56 million from UTG and GadMO snap-called all-in from the small blind with A♥A♣. Sunamivolk's A♠K♥ was in dire shape and did not improve on the Q♥9♣4♥6♥2♣ board. Sunamivolk had GadMO very slightly covered and was left with only 68,000 after the hand, while GadMO doubled to 9.83 million.

Sunamivolk tripled on the next hand, but succumbed on the one after that when her Q♥T♠ failed to improve vs. GadMO's K♦6♦. For seventh place, sunamivolk picked up $31,626.50.

AnndriaNN takes out Georg7719 in sixth

As play turned six-handed, third-in-chips Georg7719 opened for a UTG min-raise to 1,000,000 and vlem99 moved all-in for 7.78 million from the big blind. Georg7719 called, his A♠K♥ up against vlem99's 9♠9♣. The coin fell with the pair as the board finished J♣7♠7♥T♣6♥ and vlem99 doubled to 16.1 million.

His stack reduced to 4.6 million, Georg7719 found A♦7♣ and open-shoved from the cutoff only to have AnndriaNN reshove on the button. AnndriaNN's dominating A♠T♦ flopped top pair and turned trips on the T♥9♣6♠T♣A♣ board, ending Georg7719's run in sixth place ($45,601.00).

kinglune gets a clutch triple

By the time the blinds rose to 300,000/600,000, kinglune had fallen on hard times and was down to his last three big blinds. Dealt J♦7♠ in the cutoff, kinglune moved all-in for 1.78 million and got two callers-- vlem99 on the button and emjkemjk in the big blind. Both active players checked down the Q♥8♠2♠4♠J♥ board. Emjkenjk had the best hand between them with K♦3♦, but it wasn't enough to beat kinglune's pair of jacks. Kinglune tripled to 6 million and lived to fight another day.

From five to one in seven hands

Now, here's where it got a little crazy. At a typical Sunday Million final table, it could take another three levels to get from five players to a winner. But this quintet did it in seven hands. It started with vlem99 opening for 2,000,000 at 400k/800k blinds and AnndriaNN three-bet shoving for 9.4 million with pocket sevens on the button. Vlem99 called and tabled A♥K♣. The K♥9♥3♦ flop made vlem99 top pair, the K♠ turn gave him trips, and the 2♦ river ended AnndriaNN's run in fifth place, good for a $60,311.00 payday.

Three hands later, kinglune picked up A♣Q♥ and open-shoved for 4.76 million on the button. Chip leader emjkemjk called from the big blind and turned up 3♠3♦. Although kinglune hit top pair on the A♥5♠2♥ flop and turned trips with the A♠, emjkemjk spiked his two-outer on the river with the 3♣ and sent kinglune to the rail in fourth place ($77,963.00).

Then, on the next deal, the tournament's pivotal hand unfolded. With the action passed to emjkemjk in the small blind, he shoved for 35.4 million and vlem99 called all-in for 17 million from the big. Both players turned up premium hands, emjkemjk's A♦K♦ coolering vlem99's A♣Q♣. Emjkemjk's dominating hand held up and vlem99 was eliminated in third place, earning $117,680.00 for his efforts.

Heads-up chip counts

Seat 4: emjkemjk (63,941,155 in chips)
Seat 6: GadMO (9,608,845 in chips)

Emjkemjk folded the small blind on the first hand of heads-up play, but on the second he called GadMO's 10 million shove. Emjkemjk's 6♠6♥ held up against GadMO's Q♣T♠ to lock up the win.

Kudos to Canada's emjkemjk on his first Sunday Million victory! No chops here, he banked the full $220,650.00 while runner-up GadMO collected $162,354.27.
