MiniiPop banks big bucks with $162k Sunday Million score

Sunday grinders had their hands full today with the regular schedule of majors augmented by the $1 million guaranteed MicroMillions 8 Main Event. Still, the Million was back up to its typically robust numbers, the WSOP dip well behind us. 6,931 players bought in this week, their $215 buy-ins combining to create a $1,386,200.00 prize pool. 990 places were paid with first place set to earn $210,845.43. A dozen Red Spades joined this field, including Andre Akkari, Joe Cada, Lex Veldhuis, Fatima De Melo, Mickey "mement_mori" Petersen, and Martin Hruby. However, the only one to make the money was Team Online's Marc-Andre "FrenchDawg" Ladoceur, who finished in 506th place.

The blinds were up to 150,000/300,000 with ten players remaining. Average-stacked MiniiPop opened for a min-raise to 600,000 and Karola Peppe three-bet shoved for her last 2.7 million on the button. MiniiPop called, his A♠K♥ leading Karola Peppe's Q♠J♦. Karola Peppe didn't get any help on the 9♥5♥3♣4♠6♣ board and went out one spot short of the final table.

Seat 8: MiniiPop (10,839,920 in chips)
Seat 9: peitelanco (10,514,488 in chips)

Infinity899 takes ninth

It wasn't long before short stack Infinity899 open-shoved for 3.27 million from UTG and zeroGamling reshoved behind him for 7.65 million. ZeroGambling's A♠K♣ had Infinity899's A♣J♠ dominated and the 6♠6♥8♣K♦9♦ board made him kings up. Infinity899's Sunday Million run came to an end in ninth place with a $10,743.05 score.
With that pot, zeroGambling moved up to to 11.9 million, good for second in chips behind MiniiPop's 13 million.

shakentoucan rattled when tens fall to fours

Three hands later, peitelanco made a 3x raise to 1.2 million and the action folded around to shakentoucan in the big blind. He moved all-in for 5.86 million with T♣T♠ and peitelanco looked him up with 4♦4♥. Any confidence shakentoucan had in his overpair melted away on the 9♦4♣2♦ flop as peitelanco flopped a set of fours. Shakentoucan didn't get any help from the 5♠ turn or the 6♠ river and exited in eighth place for a $16,634.40 payday.

Running cards take out phil548

Bequipe caught a break when he picked up A♥A♦ against peitelanco's 9♥9♦ and doubled to 16.6 million. Peitelanco was left with 11.6 million. Then, on the very next hand, Bequipe opened for a min-raise to 1,000,000 and phil548 three-bet shoved for 3.9 million from the small blind. Bequipe called, his K♠7♥ up against Q♣J♥. Phil548 hit top pair on the Q♠9♦6♣ flop, but Bequipe turned the 5♥ and rivered the 8♣ to make a nine-high straight. Phil548 was eliminated in seventh place, earning $30,496.40 for his efforts.

One hand later, the action folded around to zeroGambling in the small blind and he moved all-in for 13 million with K♥J♣. Kalu72 woke up with 9♥9♣ in the big blind and called, but zeroGambling flopped a king to win the race, the board running out A♠K♦6♣5♦Q♥. Kalu72 was eliminated in sixth place, good for a $44,358.40 score.

Cracked kings bust zeroGambling in fifth

By the time the blinds rose to 300,000/600,000, DaDumon was down to only 4.32 million in chips. However, he picked up K♣K♠ at the perfect time and double through Bequipe, who looked him up with 8♠8♥.

Three hands later it was zeroGambling's turn to pick up kings and he opened for 1.2 million from UTG. Peitelanco three-bet to 3.6 million on the button and zeroGambling moved all-in for 12.4 million. Peitelanco called and turned over A♣Q♣. However, zeroGambling's K♥K♦ were snapped off on the A♠6♠3♦ flop as peitelanco flopped top pair. No miracle king arrived for zeroGambling on the turn or river and he hit the rail in fifth place ($58,220.40).

DaDumon climbs to fourth place

On the very next deal, Bequipe opened for 1.23 million and DaDumon moved all-in for 8.88 million from the small blind. Bequipe's A♥K♥ had DaDumon's A♣T♣ dominated and although DaDumon picked up a flush draw on the K♣3♣Q♠ flop, he did not fill in on the turn or river. For fourth place, DaDumon took home $76,241.00.

Three-way deal

Two hands after DaDumon's elimination, the final three agreed to pause the action and discuss a potential deal. Here's how they stacked up at the time:

Bequipe 27,151,988
peitelanco 25,949,132
MiniiPop 16,208,880

Final table host Lex Veldhuis provided the players with both chip count chop and ICM figures to facilitate the dealmaking. All three were amenable to the ICM figures and quickly agreed to the chop. With $20,000 still up for grabs for the winner, cards went back in the air.

MiniiPop bursts peitelanco's bubble

On the first hand back, MiniiPop three-bet shoved for 16.1 million with K♠Q♦ and initial raiser Bequipe called with pocket eights. The A♣7♦5♦ flop was no help to MiniiPop, but he picked up a flush draw when the J♦ turned. Sure enough, the 9♦ hit the river and MiniiPop doubled to 33 million with a queen-high flush.

Bequipe got revenge soon enough when he moved in for 9.2 million on the button with 6♣6♦ and MiniiPop called with A♠9♥. Bequipe's pocket sixes held up and he doubled to 19.5 million. MiniiPop fell all the way back to 13 million, but doubled back through Bequipe when his K♣Q♥ rivered a queen against A♥8♦.

Bequipe was left with 16 million and two hands later he open-shoved from the button with Q♣J♣. MiniiPop folded the small blind but peitelanco called from the big blind J♠9♠. Bequipe's hand held up on the 5♦3♦2♥3♠K♥ board and he moved up to 31.7 million.

Peitelanco was left with 13.5 million but was fortunate enough to pick up A♥Q♠ on the button a few hands later. He moved all-in and MiniiPop called from the big blind with A♠T♣. However, luck was on MiniiPop's side and he paired his kicker on the T♥4♣3♠ flop. Peitelanco couldn't catch up on the 3♦ turn or the 4♥ river and went out in third place. Thanks to the deal, peitelanco took home $156,840.21.

Heads-up chip counts

Seat 1: Bequipe (27,443,128 in chips)
Seat 8: MiniiPop (41,866,872 in chips)

MiniiPop and Bequipe traded small pots for 30 hands before Bequipe three-bet shoved for 20.4 million and MiniiPop called with A♠J♠. Bequipe's K♠6♠ was a preflop underdog, but improved to a pair of kings on the K♥Q♦5♦ flop. The 7♥ turn was a blank, but MiniiPop managed to spike the T♠ on the river to make Broadway and lock up the Sunday Million title.

Congratulations to MiniiPop on joining the ranks of Sunday Million champions! He banked $162,683.70 for the win while runner-up Bequipe earned $158,165.02.
