Sunday Million: power941 surges to a $235k victory
Maybe it was the Olympics, maybe it was the chilly weather, maybe it was Valentine's Day weekend. Whatever the reason, crowds were even more robust than usual in this week's Sunday Majors. A total of 7,863 players bought into the Sunday Million, pushing the prize pool over the $1.5 million mark to a final tally of $1,572,600. 1,170 places were paid with first place set to earn $235,893.87. Thirteen Red Spades were in the field and five of them finished in the money: Matthias De Meulder (371st), Maxim Lykov (316th), George Danzer (229th), Mickey "mement_mori" Petersen (85th), and Christophe De Meulder (76th).
Blinds were up to 150,000/300,000 with 10 players left and poker41day was by far the shortest stack with only 1.41 million remaining. When power941 opened for 611,454, poker41day found 8♣8♠ on the button and moved all-in. Power941 called, revealing Q♥9♦. Power941 won the coinflip when a nine hit the flop and, unable to improve, poker41day hit the rail on the final table bubble.

Sircall's kings cracked, rasek26 misclicks
Sircall found an opportunity to double his short stack when karopi8ikaki opened for 900,000 and politm69 shoved for 3.78 million. Sircall called all-in for 3.66 million with K♦K♣, karopi8kaki got out of the way, and politm69 revealed A♣Q♣. The K♠9♣4♣ flop made Sircall top set, but politm69 picked up the nut flush draw. Politm69 filled it when the 3♣ turned, and Sircall needed to pair the board to survive. Instead, the innocuous 8♥ fell and Sircall became the final table's first casualty, ending his run in ninth place for $12,187.65.
Then, with the blinds up to 250,000/500,000, rasek26 opened for 8,555,555. N0b0dy shoved for 8.73 million on the button and rasek26 revealed his mistake.
rasek26: ech missclick
Rasek26 called the 178,644 balance, his 3♣3♠ up against A♦K♣. Although rasek26's pocket threes held up on the T♠7♦6♥ flop, N0b0dy hit the K♥ on the turn and the K♦ on the river to make trips. N0b0dy doubled to 18.6 million while rasek26 was left with only 3 million.
Rasek26 shoved 2.97 million on the next hand with 9♦T♦, but ran straight into power941's Q♥Q♠. The pocket queens held up and rasek26 was out in eighth place, earning $18,084.90.
power941 takes out Sasuke234, N0b0dy out in sixth
Two hands later, the action folded to ram_siva1 in the small blind and he moved all-in for 6.51 million with A♣5♣. Unfortunately for him, Sasuke234 called from the big blind and revealed A♠Q♥. Ram_siva1's dominated hand did not improve and Sasuke234 doubled to 13.1 million. Left with only 144,500, ram_siva1 moved in on the next deal with K♥T♥ and power941 called with K♦7♥. This time, ram_siva1 had the upper hand, but power941 spiked a seven on the river to pair his kicker and eliminate ram_siva1 in seventh place ($31,452.00).
Moments later, N0b0dy opened for a min-raise to 1,000,000 from UTG and plenny004 three-bet to 3 million from middle position. N0b0dy shoved and plenny004 called. N0b0dy's Q♠Q♥ had run into plenny004's A♦A♥ and he didn't get any help from the 7♣9♦7♠4♥K♣ board. Plenny004 doubled to 15.6 million and, three hands later, N0b0dy was eliminated in sixth place when Sasuke234's A♠Q♣ outflopped his pocket tens in a pre-flop all-in.
Sasuke234 runs into aces and kings
Only two hands passed before karopi8ikaki and Sasuke234 got all their money in before the flop, Sasuke234's 4♣4♦ in bad shape against karopi8ikaki's A♠A♥. Karopi8ikaki doubled to 28 million, leaving Sasuke234 on 14 million. Once the blinds rose to 300,000/600,000, Sasuke234 shed even more chips. Holding A♠J♣, Sasuke234 three-bet shoved for 11.3 million from the small blind and initial raiser politm69 snap-called with K♠K♦. Politm69 flopped a set of kings and doubled to 15.2 million, leaving Sasuke234 on only 4.1 million.
Three hands later, Sasuke234 open-shoved for 3.97 million with K♥T♣ and plenny004 called from the small blind with A♣9♠. Plenny004 flopped top pair on the A♦6♥2♦Q♦5♥ board and ended Sasuke234's run in fifth place, good for $62,904.00.
power941 takes control
As play turned four-handed, power941 moved into the chip lead when he took a 15 million pot off karopi8kaki with trip jacks. Meanwhile, politm69 was down to 7.7 million and moved all-in from UTG with K♥Q♦. Power941 reshoved from the small blind with A♥K♠ and his dominating hand held up on the T♣6♣2♥9♦5♦ board. Politm69 exited in fourth place, earning $79,259.04 for his efforts.
With that hand, power941 was firmly in the lead with 38 million, plenny004 was second with 22.5 million and karopi8ikaki was the short stack with 18.1 million. However, power941 soon stripped plenny004 of second place in this 26 million-chip pot where power941 bluffed the flop and turn only to have plenny004 turn around and bet his king-high once power941 paired up on the river:
Plenny004 fell to 11 million after that hand, but regained some ground by doubling through karopi8ikaki when his K♥Q♦ hit a queen on the turn vs. an unimproved A♠8♠. Plenny004 moved up to 24.3 million while karopi8ikaki fell to 7 million.
A few hands later, karopi8ikaki open-shoved from the small blind with Q♣9♣ and plenny004 called with A♣Q♥ in the big. Plenny004 turned top pair on the 7♦8♠9♥A♠J♥ board and karopi8ikaki was out in third place, earning $117,945.
Heads-up chip counts
Seat 1: power941 (47,200,732 in chips)
Seat 9: plenny004 (31,429,268 in chips)
It only took seven more hands to find a winner. On hand #5, power941 three-bet pre-flop, then led out on a T♥9♥4♥ flop. Plenny004 called and the K♣ hit the turn. Power941 fired again, but plenny004 gave it up, relinquishing the 17.3 million pot.
Two hands later, power941 closed out the win, flopping queens up and improving to aces up on the turn:
Congratulations to power941 on capturing a Sunday Million title! With no deals this time, power941 took home $235,893.87 for the win while runner-up plenny004 banked $172,986.00.
