Sunday Million: DonLinnet dominates, ships $178k

From the time there were two tables remaining, there was DonLinnet... and there was everyone else. This Danish dynamo maintained a commanding chip lead, at times holding twice or even three times the chips of his closest competitor. Arriving at the final table with double the average stack, DonLinnet scooped up chips as his short-stacked tablemates fell one by one. By the time play was three-handed, DonLinnet controlled two-thirds of the chips in play and swiftly picked off his two remaining opponents to capture his first Sunday Million title and over $178k.

This week's Million drew 5,704 players, resulting in a $1,140,800.00 prize pool. 810 places were paid with first place set to earn $178,423.55.

The blinds were up to 150,000/300,000 with ten players remaining. The action folded to TheUrsaraie on the button, who moved in for his last 11 big blinds. BruceLeemp reshoved for 6.9 million from the small blind and chip leader DonLinnet folded the big. TheUrsaraie's J♠9♠ was dominated by BruceLeemp's A♥J♥ and did not imrprove on the K♥4♠4♥K♦2♦ board.

Seat 1: DonLinnet (12,464,993 in chips)
Seat 2: BruceLeemp (10,834,529 in chips)
Seat 3: Reshafim87 (6,491,988 in chips)
Seat 4: deebow22 (3,861,650 in chips)
Seat 5: kessuwss (7,433,551 in chips)
Seat 6: tzahi123456 (4,617,952 in chips)
Seat 7: Pavalinya (3,706,123 in chips)
Seat 8: Dobry888 (5,987,722 in chips)
Seat 9: Jersey905 (1,641,492 in chips)

Within the first ten hands, the final table lost its first two players. Jersey905 moved in his last 1.04 million with A♦Q♦ and although he had DonLinnet's A♠6♣ dominated, a six hit the flop, ending his run in ninth place. Four hands later, BruceLeemp three-bet DonLinnet's opening min-raise to 1.85 million and DonLinnet responded by moving all-in for 14.3 million. BruceLeemp called, his A♥K♦ racing with Q♣Q♠. DonLinnet hit top set and rivered queens full on the Q♦J♥7♣T♣T♥ board, moving out to a commanding 25.3 million chip lead while BruceLeemp hit the rail in eighth place.

With the blinds up to 250,000/500,000, Pavalinya open-shoved for 4.75 million and Reshafim87 called from the small blind with A♥Q♥. Pavalinya's Q♦J♣ hit middle pair on the K♥J♥9♦ flop and survived the 5♦ turn, but Reshafim87 rivered the nut flush with the 4♥ and sent Pavalinya home in seventh place. The pot moved Reshafim87 up to second in chips with 11.1 million. Soon thereafter, DonLinnet folded UTG and Reshafim87 shoved from UTG+1, having the rest of the table covered. Dobry888 called all-in for 3.7 million from the big blind and turned over 9♠9♣. Reshafim87 showed A♦T♥ and was racing again, but hit an ace on the flop to eliminate Dobry888 in sixth place.

Meanwhile, two of the shortest stacks were hanging on for dear life. Deebow22 doubled twice through Reshafim87 to move up to 5.6 million while tzahi123456 fell below a million in chips before doubling to 2.5 million. Two hands later, tzahi123456 doubled again, calling all-in for 1.78 million vs. kessuwss's small blind shove. Although kessuwss's Q♦T♥ hit top pair on the T♦2♣2♥ flop, tzahi123456's J♣9♣ turned the 8♦ and rivered the 7♠ to make a jack-high straight, good for the 5.07 million pot.

Kessuwss hung on to the 300,000/600,000 level when Reshafim87 open-shoved for 15.1 million. Deebow22 called all-in for 2.37 million from the small blind and kessuwss called all-in from the big.

deebow22 K♣K♥
kessuwss A♠Q♦

Deebow22's pocket kings held up on the J♠8♦7♦2♥2♣ board, good for the 8.33 million main pot, while Reshafim87's pair of jacks took the 4.44 million side pot. Kessuwss, however, did not improve and ended his run in fifth place.

With the field down to four, the two smallest stacks went to war preflop-- tzahi123456 moving in for 4.05 million from the cutoff with K♦Q♦ and deebow22 calling from the big blind with pocket sevens. Deebow22's pair held up on the T♣4♣3♦ flop, but the K♥ turned, giving tzahi123456 the 8.6 million pot. Deebow22 was left with 5.2 million, but doubled back up a few minutes later when Reshafim87 made a small blind shove with 6♣T♣ only to collide with deebow22's pocket kings in the big blind. Deebow22 moved up to 9 million in chips, leaving Reshafim87 on 7 million.

The blinds increased to 400,000/800,000 and with the action folded to him in the small blind, deebow22 moved in with 6♠6♣ and tzahi123456 called with A♥J♣. Once again, deebow22's pair survived the flop only to have disaster strike on the turn as the board ran out T♠7♣5♦A♠7♦, eliminating him in fourth place.

As three-handed play commenced, DonLinnet still held a massive lead with 37.5 million in chips. Reshafim87 was second with 10.6 million and tzahi123456 was the short stack with 8.9 million.

Four hands later, tzahi123456 folded the button and DonLinnet moved all-in from the small blind with K♠9♥. Reshafim87 found A♦Q♦ in the big and called all-in. However, DonLinnet's good fortune continued as he flopped a king on the K♣J♣4♥4♦5♦ board to end Reshafim87's run in third place.

Heads-up chip counts

Seat 1: DonLinnet (48,580,400 in chips)
Seat 6: tzahi123456 (8,459,600 in chips)

It didn't take long for DonLinnet to claim the rest of tzahi123456's chips. Although tzahi123456 took an aggressive approach, he quickly fell to 4.53 million and called a small blind shove from DonLinnet with K♥9♥. DonLinnet was behind with Q♦8♠, but flopped an eight and turned trips on the A♠8♥2♣8♣6♦ board to lock up the win.

Congratulations to Denmark's DonLinnet, our newest Sunday Million titleholder! He banked $178,423.55 for the win, while runner-up tzahi123456 earned $132,903.20.
