A new year means another year of Super Tuesdays for PokerStars players looking for a nice mid-week score. Tonight's edition featured 476 players creating a prize pool of $476,000 with 54 players guaranteed at least $2,380 with the winner expecting to earn over $91,000. As usual, several members of Team PokerStars PRO took a crack at the Super Tuesday. Unfortunately for Barry Greenstein, Daniel Negreanu, Andre Akkari, Alexandre Gomes, Jose "Nacho" Barbero and Pat Pezzin, they all fell short of making the money.

To get to the final table, we needed a final table bubble boy. The blinds were at 3,200/6,400 with an ante of 800 as p0cket00 opened with a raise to 13,870. Nick "ISpewChips" Phillips shoved for his remaining 138,048 in chips as p0cket00 made the call. With the cards on their backs, p0cket00 held A♥J♣ while Phillips was dominated, holding A♦9♦. The flop gave Phillips plenty of outs to double up: Q♦ 8♥ 5♦. However, his hopes of remaining in the tournament were dashed when the turn and river were blanks, K♥A♣ as he was sent to the rail in 10th place earning $6,188 as our final table was now set.

Here's how the final table was seated:

Seat 1: Renato76 (318,837 in chips)
Seat 2: Laurence "rivermanl" Houghton (283,914 in chips)
Seat 3: p0cket00 (563,429 in chips)
Seat 4: rommanthe3rd (192,316 in chips)
Seat 5: Lee "squatbody53" Childs (67,986 in chips)
Seat 6: Steve "19FMS86" Levy (181,906 in chips)
Seat 7: zaxman13 (211,212 in chips)
Seat 8: Aleseed (315,173 in chips)
Seat 9: Andres "andresoprano" Pereyra (245,227 in chips)

The short stack at the final table, Lee "squatbody53" Childs was able to get an early double-up, but would be eliminated a few hands later in 9th place, cashing for $7,901.60. The blinds had now gone up to 4,500/9,000 with an ante of 900 when Childs opened with a bet to 19,500 with A♠Q♣. In the small blind, Aleseed reraised to 47,800 with Q♠Q♦ as Childs moved in for 145,872 total as Aleseed made the call. Five cards later, Childs chips would head to Aleseed's stack as the board ran out 5♣ 6♠ 6♣ 9♥ 3♠ as play continued with eight players remaining.

Holding pocket aces at the final table usually is a good thing, but for rommanthe3rd they weren't so kind, finishing 8th for $10,710.00. The blinds were 4,000/8,000 with an ante of 1,000 when Andres "andressoprano" Pereyra and rommanthe3rd tangled in a pair v pair confrontation:

Holding pocket queens worked for Pereyra, but when Renato76 held them a few hands later, it didn't go as planned. The action started with blinds at 4,500/9,000 with an ante of 1,125 as Renato76 min-raised to 18,000 with Q♠Q♣. From the small blind p0cket00 moved in while holding A♣2♣, Renato76 called for their remaining 121,602 chips. The flop was 6♠ 5♦ 4♣ giving p0cket00 an overcard, a gutshot straight draw and a runner-runner flush draw. The 3♥ on the turn filled p0cket00's straight as Renato76 was drawing to a chop, which wasn't to arrive as the 8♣ on the river meant a 7th place finish, collecting $15,470.00.

While the sextet were hoping to eliminate another player, Aleseed held the chip lead but would run into Steve "19FMS86" Levy in a pair of big hands to give Levy over 1,000,000 in chips as the players entered the 11th hour of play. The final hand played with blinds at 6,000/12,000 with an ante of 1,500 saw the departure of Andres "andresoprano" Pereyra in 6th place, earning $20,230. Action opened with zaxman13 raising to 25,284, Pereyra moving all-in for 184,751 chips as Laurence "rivermanl" Houghton shoving as well for 208,896 as zaxman13 got out of the way. Pereyra turned over K♣Q♣ while Houghton showed J♣J♥. The five cards on the board made a straight, 6♣ 8♣ 7♦ T♣ 9♥, but Houghton's Jacks meant he held the higher straight as Pereyra hit the rail.

A few hands later, Houghton would be dispatched from the table in 5th place, adding $26,656.00 to his impressive tournament record. The blinds had just jumped to 7,000/14,000 with an ante of 1,750 as Steve "19FMS86" Levy opened from UTG +1 to 31,445 with A♠Q♦. Folded around to Houghton, he shoved for 392,931 with 5♣5♥ as Levy called in the coinflip. The flip went Levy's way when the flop was T♥ Q♥ 6♣ as Houghton was left with the remaining fives to double up. The turn and river were the K♠8♥ and then there were four players left as Levy held over half of the chips on the table.

The next departure would be zaxman13 after losing a pair of battles with Aleseed. The final hand zaxman13 played started with Aleseed raising from UTG to 29,000. Steve "19FMS86" Levy reraised to 73,445, zaxman13 moved in for 274,837 total while Aleseed also shipped it for 333,288 in chips as Levy got out of the way. Aleseed showed K♠K♦ while zaxman13 was behind with A♥Q♠. The board would be of no help for zaxman13: 7♦ 7♣ 4♥ T♣ J♥ left to get an email from PokerStars letting them know they just won $38,080.00 for 4th place.

After zaxman13 was knocked out, p0cket00 was the short stack and appeared to be the third place finisher. However, he doubled first through Aleseed and then 19FMS86 in consecutive hands. Here's how the second hand played out as the rockets held up:

After this hand, the players quickly agreed to a deal based on the chip counts. Here's how they broke down the top three spots with the players left to play out the tournament for TLB points:

Steve "19FMS86" Levy - $77,416.02
p0cket00 - $71,163.53
Aleseed - $60,574.85

The first hand after the deal was made, Aleseed held a pair while p0cket00 held two undercards as they looked for an early exit:

Heads-up play started with p0cket00 holding a slight chip lead over 19FMS86. The key hand that kept p0cket00 in front to stay had him flop a flush and send to 19FMS86 to valuetown on the river:

Steve "19FMS86" Levy was able to double up a couple of times to close the gap, but eventually could not overcome the run of cards p0cket00 picked up towards the end of the tournament. The final hand of the tournament had the blinds at 9,000/18,000 with an ante of 2,250 as Levy min-raised to 36,000 with 6♥6♠. This was greeted with p0cket00 moving all-in with K♦7♦ as Levy called all-in. The flop was K♣ T♣ 5d] to move p0cket00 into the lead. Levy hoped for the remaining two sixes, but saw the 3♣ and A♦ on his monitor. Possibly consoled by the fact he earned the most money - $77,416.02. P0cket00 gets the title of this report, and more importantly a Super Tuesday victory and the addition of $71,163.53 when looking at their cashier page.
