Valuelol Found Value and Victory, and $72,175.50 for the Super Tuesday Win

Super Tuesday logo.pngTuesday so often gets discounted. It's not as bad as Monday, it doesn't signify the middle of the work week like Wednesday, and it's certainly not Friday. And in the poker world, Sunday is credited with the majority of online poker tournament action. But PokerStars has given Tuesday new meaning, dubbing it Super Tuesday and offering players big buy-in action with an impressive guarantee. Tuesday appreciates that.

This week's Super Tuesday attracted 373 players to the tables for the $1,000 + $50 buy-in tournament and put up a $300,000 guarantee. But with the solid field, the prize pool soared to $373,000 and allowed the top 45 players to be paid from that money.

The money bubble burst just before the five and a half hour mark of the event, with G's zee being the unfortunate 46th place finisher and leaving Jared "TheWacoKidd" Hamby to cash in 45th place for $2,238.00.

Along the way, PokerStars Team players were in the mix, though some of them left the party early. Team Online's Mer "PeachyMer" Brit exited in 322nd place, followed by Team Pros Viktor "Isildur1" Blom in 280th, Vanessa "LadyMaverick" Rousso in 215th, Jose "nachobarbero" Barbero in 205th, and Online's Grayson "spacegravy" Physioc in 188th. The only member of the team to make it into the money was Team Online's Randy "nanonoko" Lew, who finished in 28th place. For those who never saw the video below, a look into Lew's world shows how he does consistently well in tournament poker:

It was well into the seventh hour of play when hand-for-hand brought the final players closer to the last table of the night, and it finally happened when short-stacked AcePoker9 risked it all with K♣K♦ against the A♠9♠ of Valuelol. The board of A♥Q♦4♣A♣7♠ gave Valuelol trip aces and left AcePoker9 out in tenth place with $5,595.00.

Valuelol looks for value in chip lead

It was toward the end of Level 28, with blinds at 2,000/4,000 and a 500 ante, that the final table officially began as follows:

Seat 2: jarekk (114,715 in chips)
Seat 3: rkruok (153,470 in chips)
Seat 4: Valuelol (515,056 in chips)
Seat 5: aleser (178,704 in chips)
Seat 6: simmsux (359,233 in chips)

On the third hand of action, All_in_at420 used pocket aces to double through simmsux and jump into a solid second place on the leaderboard. And then the players slowed their rolls ... quite a bit. But about 20 minutes later, sms9231 doubled through Valuelol with A-J over pocket nines when an ace came on the river.

One of the shorter stacks, JMaster130, finally decided to risk it all with an all-in raise holding A♦Q♣. Valuelol was there with the call and Q♠Q♥. Not much came on the 8♠3♠K♦K♣9♠ but another pair, and JMaster130 was shown the door. He headed out in ninth place with $6,527.50.

Jarekk doubled through inwooke, and the latter then did the same through All_in_at420 to stay alive for a few more rounds.

But inwooke needed to move again and did it with A♥9♠. All_in_at420 was there again, this time with a dominating A♠T♠. The board only brought more tens with 5♥T♣T♥7♠8♣, and the trips were more than enough to send inwooke out in eighth place with $8,952.00.

Jarekk had a big double through simmsux, but simmsux then took some back with a double-up at Valuelol's expense and another courtesy of sms9231.

With a little more power, simmsux was ready to take on another opponent. Aleser moved all-in for 63,404 chips, and simmsux reraised to isolate. It worked, and simmsux showed 9♠9♥ to the A♣6♠ of aleser. The board ran out with J♣2♦7♦K♦3♣, and the nines held up to eliminate aleser in seventh place, which was worth $12,682.00 in cash.

Valuelol lost first place on the board for a moment, but after taking a pot worth nearly 229K from jarekk, it was back into the number one slot. Soon after, rkruok doubled through jarekk twice to leave the latter as the shortest of the bunch.

All_in_at420 all in the top spot on the leaderboard

After moving assuredly into first place of the remaining players, All_in_at420 took it a step further. When simmsux moved all-in preflop, All_in_at420 called with A♣Q♦, which was racing against the 4♦4♥ of simmsux. The flop of 5♣Q♥7♦ brought top pair, and the 7♥ turn and K♥ river ended it with Adam "simmsux" Geyer out in sixth place for $16,412.00.

Jarekk doubled through rkruok, which prompted rkruok to try a double via All_in_at420, which was successful enough to do it twice. Rkruok also doubled through sms9231.

Then, in a battle of the blinds, All_in_at420 raised from the small, and jarekk called all-in from the big for just under 105K chips with 8♣8♥. All_in_at420 turned over 9♦7♣ and immediately caught the nine on the 9♣A♥4♦ flop. The 7♦ on the turn made two pair, and the 9♥ on the river brought a tidy full house. Jarekk left in fifth place with $21,261.00 to show for it.

Valuelol then went to work on All_in_at420, and the two battled in two major pots. Both went to Valuelol, one worth nearly 400K and the other worth 608K.

The following hand put All_in_at420 in a desperate position:

Valuelol vaults back into the lead

All_in_at420 did double through Valuelol to stick around, but the two soon tangled again. A preflop raising war resulted in All_in_at420 pushing 334,221 chips all-in with A♥J♥, but Valuelol called from the small blind with A♠Q♦. The flop said it all: A♦Q♥2♦. The 5♠ turn and 5♦ river only served to end the hand, leaving Matt "All_in_at420" Stout all out in fourth place with $30,772.50.

After sms9231 doubled through rkruok, the latter was working a short stack. The all-in move soon came for rkruok with 3♠3♣, and Valuelol reraised all-in with A♦K♥. Sms9231 got out of the way, and the two players in the hand watched the dealer produce a 7♠5♠A♣J♠J♦ board. That eliminated Rayan "rkruok" Nathan in third place, which was worth $41,030.00.

The two finalists started their match as follows:

Seat 4: Valuelol (1,585,833 in chips)
Seat 7: sms9231 (279,167 in chips)

Sms9231 tried his hardest to pick some spots, but Valuelol stayed strong and aggressive. It finally came down to one big attempt. Sms9231 started the hand with a raise, Valuelol reraised all-in, and sms9231 called for his last 246,406 chips. Valuelol showed A♠J♦, and sms9231 was in trouble with A♠J♦. The flop of 6♥A♥4♦ brought that ace to increase Valuelol's chances, and the T♠ and 7♦ secured the win. Mohsin "sms9231" Charania, winner of a 2010 SCOOP event, had to settle for second place and the $54,085.00 that went with it.

Valuelol of Germany won this week's Super Tuesday and walked away with $72,175.50. Congrats!
