mrAndreeew and 42ayay chop, $100K-plus for each in another huge Super Tuesday (3/26/13)
Well it wasn't quite another record field, but it was yet another huge turnout for this week's Super Tuesday. Following last week's all-time high of 663 entrants, tonight's edition of PokerStars's weekly $1,050 buy-in no-limit hold'em tournament drew a second-best ever 637, and after 11-and-a-half hours it was two Swedes -- mrAndreeew and 42ayay -- chopping two-handed to guarantee each $100K-plus paydays, with mrAndreeew ultimately prevailing.
From 637 to 72
With 637 players that meant a $637,000 prize pool -- again more than twice the $300K guarantee -- with the top 72 finishers due to split the money.
After four-and-a-half hours the field was shrinking down toward the 100-player mark with StrungOut1 sitting on top as the only player with more than 100,000 chips.
Meanwhile, occupying the next two spots were a couple of familiar names -- Annette "Annette_15" Obrestad and Team PokerStars Pro Toni Judet, both with a little over 60,000. Also surviving with a less than average stack and sitting just inside the top 100 was Mickey "mement_mori" Petersen.
About an hour they'd reached the cash bubble, and with 73 players left Jason "jdtjpoker" Wheeler had pushed to the top of the counts with Obrestad and Judet still above average and Petersen still with chips as well. Soon after that Soccermom96 knocked out Joey Capp in 73rd, and they'd reached the cash.
From 72 to 18
Dan "djk123" Kelly was the first to cash by finishing 72nd, followed soon by Randal "RandALLin" Flowers (71st), Craig "mcc3991" McCorkell (68th), and Josh "JBT449" Bergman (67th), with each of those players earning min-cashes of $2,102.10.
Not long after it was Mickey "mement_mori" Petersen committing the last of his chips following a 4♦4♠[10s] flop with K♠J♠ versus buiu01's J♣9♣. Alas for Petersen, the 9♦ fell on the turn, and after the river blanked the Team Online member was out in 63rd ($2,229.50).
Among those hitting the rail over the next couple of hours were Jon "PearlJammer" Turner" (54th, $2,548), Kevin "KevBoyStar" Stani (52nd ($2,548), Marty "TheLipoFund" Mathis (46th, $2,548), Rasmus "mrvogt" Vogt (45th, $2,866.50), Scott "stpauli111" Hall (36th, $3,185), Steve "McNallyville" McNally (33rd, $3,185), Jin "jhwang21" Hwang (32nd, $3,185), and Jason "jdtjpoker" Wheeler (27th, $3,822).
A little while after that it was Toni Judet finding himself all in before the flop for his last 20 big blinds or so with A♥K♦ versus EPNR's 9♠9♣. The board ran out six-high and Judet was eliminated in 24th ($3,822).
It took about a half-hour more for five more to fall, and after Joe "floes" Serok (20th) and rat sauce 89 (19th) were knocked out (each earning $3,822), just two tables remained, with Ankush "pistons87" Mandavia sitting at the top of the counts with more than 300,000 chips.
From 18 to 9
Meanwhile Annette "Annette_15" Obrestad was still in the hunt with above average chips, as were a couple of other familiar names, Scott "gunning4you" Seiver and Aaron "AaronBeen" Been.
Soon Obrestad was calling an all-in push by a short-stacked Been. Been had 6♦6♠ and Obrestad 7♥7♣, and when the better pair held Been was out in 18th ($5,096) while Obrestad moved into the top five with 17 left.
Following Been to the rail were Bostero10 (17th) and myrinho0777 (16th), both of whom like Been earned $5,096 for their finishes. iAct.VolanD (15th), Dan "Danny98765" Smith (14th), and EPNR (13th) took away $6,370 apiece. And China_White1 (12th), Tyren0 (11th), and StrungOut1 (10th) each saw $7,644 added to their PokerStars accounts.
During that stretch Roberta114 had pushed out ahead of the others into first position, and after a little more than nine-and-a-half hours, the final table was set.

Seat 4: mrAndreeew (Sweden) -- 387,793

Seat 8: Scott "gunning4you" Seiver (Canada) -- 327,836
Seat 9: Roberta114 (Finland) -- 612,370
From 9 to 6
It was the very first hand of the final table that saw action developing between 42ayay and Scott "gunning4you" Seiver, with 42ayay starting things with a 2x raise to 18,000 and Seiver calling from the big blind.
The flop came 6♠9♣4♠ and Seiver checked. 42ayay bet 19,840 and after a short pause Seiver called. The turn brought the 6♥ and another check from gunning4you. This time 42ayay bet 42,840, and Seiver went into the tank for about a half-minute before check-raising to 103,000. 42ayay then took about 20 seconds as well before making the call.
The river brought the A♦, and again after waiting some time Seiver finally acted, this time pushing all in for 185,871. 42ayay considered for several beats, then called Seiver's shove, turning over A♣9♥ for two pair. Seiver showed T♠3♠ for a busted flush draw, and gunning4you was out in ninth.
About 15 minutes later the blinds were 5,000/10,000 when Ankush "pistons87" Mandavia opened for 20,000 from middle position, then Annette "Annette_15" Obrestad reraised all in for 189,230 from a seat over.
It folded to 42ayay in the small blind who thanks to that hand with Seiver was now in the chip lead. 42ayay reraised all in over the top for more than 900,000, and when the action got back to Mandavia he stepped aside.
Obrestad needed help from the community cards to survive. But the board came 7♣K♥J♦6♠J♣ which didn't improve her hand, thereby ending Obrestad's run in eighth.
The remaining seven made it to the 10-hour break, with 42ayay well out in front with nearly 1.4 million and Roberta114 having slipped back to sixth of the final seven. Then soon after play resumed it was Str8$$$Homey raising 2x to 24,000 from under the gun and Roberta114 pushing all in from the button for 267,697. The blinds got out, and Str8$$$Homey called.
Str8$$$Homey showed T♥T♣ and Roberta114 A♥Q♦. The board came J♠8♦4♥9♥J♣, and Roberta114 was knocked out in seventh.
From 6 to 2
A few minutes later leader 42ayay raised the minimum to 28,000 from early position, then NutsErryTime pushed all in from the small blind for 301,331. It folded back to 42ayay who called the shove, showing 8♣8♥, and NutsErryTime turned over 9♣9♦.
NutsErryTime appeared in good shape to double up, but the flop came Q♥5♥8♠ to give 42ayay a set of eights. Then the 8♦ fell on the turn to improve 42ayay to an unbeatable hand of quads, and following the meaningless river NutsErryTime's seat became empty and just five remained.
The blinds increased to 8,000/16,000, and a hand arose in which Str8$$$Homey raised to 32,000 from the cutoff seat, then a short-stacked Ankush "pistons87" Mandavia reraised all in for 89,767 from the small blind. K!nG.O.O folded from the next seat, then Str8$$$Homey called.
Mandavia had picked up A♦T♦ and was hoping the hand would hold versus Str8$$$Homey's K♥Q♣. It did so through the 7♠7♥9♠ flop and 3♣ turn. But the river brought the K♣ to pair Str8$$$Homey's king, and pistons87 was out in fifth.
The final four played on to the 11-hour break, at which point 42ayay still led with about 1.24 million, with mrAndreeew closest with about 976,000, Str8$$$Homey third with just over 565,000, and K!nG.O.O fourth with just under 400,000.
About 10 minutes after they resumed play, the blinds had increased to 10,000/20,000 and 42ayay raised to 40,000 from the button. Next to act, Str8$$$Homey reraised all in for 311,579 from the small blind, and mrAndreeew folded the big blind. 42ayay called with 5♠5♥, and Str8$$$Homey was hoping to improve with A♥4♠.
As it happened, Str8$$$Homey would improve, although the T♠A♦8♠Q♠7♠ board that delivered both players flushes gave 42ayay the better one, and Str8$$$Homey was out in fourth.
Just a few hands later, K!nG.O.O open-raised all in from the small blind for 254,827 with K♦J♥ and 42ayay called from the big blind with K♠Q♠. The board rolled out T♣3♥2♣6♠2♥, and suddenly they were down to two.
42ayay and mrAndreeew quickly asked for the tournament to be paused so they could discuss a possible deal, with 42ayay well in front with 2,415,535 to mrAndreeew's 769,465. Figures were produced -- leaving $6,000 for which to play -- and both players quickly agreed to the suggested terms.
mrAndreeew then began adding chips immediately after play resumed, then scored a big double-up after the pair bet every street including the river as the board came K♥3♦K♦3♥T♠.
Having check-called all in on fifth street, mrAndreeew showed K♣T♦ for kings full of tens, and saw that in fact 42ayay had flopped a full house with K♠3♠ but mrAndreeew had improved to make a better hand. Check it out:
It didn't take much longer after that hand for 42ayay to be at risk, as a hand soon came up in which mrAndreeew opened with a 2x raise to 60,000 from the button, 42ayay pushed all in for 468,085 total, and mrAndreeew called.
42ayay had J♠9♦ and mrAndreeew A♦2♥. The flop came Q♣T♣A♥, then 3♦, then 3♥, and mrAndreeew had won!
Congratulations to mrAndreeew for outlasting another huge Super Tuesday field to take down this week's tournament, and kudos as well to 42ayay for making it to the two-way chop and thus assuring two players six-figure scores -- another Super Tuesday first!
