veeea goes coast-to-coast on 7/9/13 Super Tuesday

veeea and AtlasC came into the Super Tuesday final table sitting one and two, and it quickly became apparent why that was the case. We love nothing more than to see big stacks pushing the action, and their aggression being rewarded, and that's exactly what unfolded today. After the dust had settled veeea and AtlasC remained the last two standing with Russia's veeea claiming the title on a very International final table along with almost $80,000 in prize money.

Today's $1,050 Super Tuesday produced a field of 415 players to create a prize pool of $415,000, with the top 54 place finishers set to collect some profit for their efforts.

With the WSOP Main Event in full swing, Christian de León and Caio Pessagno were the only ones representing Team PokerStars in today's event. de León was an early casualty while Pessagno looked set to cash before narrowly missing the money in 69th place. Also missing the cash was jays94 from Canada who was unfortunately our bubble in 55th place, as the remaining players locked up a minimum $2,075 pay day.

With the bubble bursting, the players quickly dropped away with Brad Bower (50th - $2,075), Tim English (21st - $2,905), Iván Lucá (15th - $4,565) and John Wilson (14th - $4,565) among the cash prize winners.

When JoeGall lost a preflop race with A♥7♠ against diemaus36o's pocket fives, JoeGall was crippled and eliminated moments later on the final table bubble in 10th place as our final table line up was set:

Final Table Line up
Seat 1: iCeVeNoM (80,506 in chips)
Seat 2: diemaus36o (185,556 in chips)
Seat 3: veeea (693,795 in chips)
Seat 4: clausace (73,264 in chips)
Seat 5: GR8MIND (122,541 in chips)
Seat 6: Pinocchyo (51,335 in chips)
Seat 7: AtlasC (417,769 in chips)
Seat 8: g0epr0 (224,699 in chips)
Seat 9: lizet555 (225,535 in chips)

veeea was well out in front with the final table blinds kicking off at 2,400/4,800/600, while the pressure was on Pinocchyo as the short stack. Unfortunately Pinocchyo was unable to land a double up after getting a little unlucky with A♣Q♥ against veeea's dominated K♦Q♦. The chips were in preflop but the board of 8♦9♥8♣K♥4♠ delivered a pair of kings for veeea and eliminate Pinocchyo in 9th place for $6,889 in prize money.

clausace soon followed in 8th place, although was also unlucky not to find a triple up in the following hand:

AtlasC isolated with just ace-high but jagged a jack on the turn to snuff out clausace in 8th place for $9,337.50.

g0epr0 went on a mini-rush, first with pocket nines against diemaus36o's ace-king, before getting a couple of streets of value with pocket aces against GR8MIND.

iCeVeNoM slipped onto the short stack and was next to depart. Action unfolded on the flop, and again, it was a little dirty:

AtlasC again did the damage, this time with a gutshot straight draw to end iCeVeNoM's run in 7th place for $13,487.50.

Meanwhile lizet555 was getting desperately short and decided to make a move from the small blind for around five big blinds with K♥6♣ but it wasn't enough chips to stop diemaus36o from gambling in the big blind with T♠4♣. The board rolled off 8♥9♦A♥T♦6♠ to land a pair of tens for diemaus36o to take it down. lizet555 collected $17,637.50 for 6th place.

With five players left, veeea was still out in front but AtlasC closed the gap winning a huge pot from diemaus36o after flopping trip fives. But veeea was able to take some of those chips after making a flush against AtlasC's two pair.

The chips continued to fly among the big stacks as the others tried to find a spot to get involved. When action folded to g0epr0 in the small blind, g0epr0 moved all in for around 13 big blinds with K♥2♥ but diemaus36o made the call in the big blind with 4♦4♥ and held through the 3♣T♥3♦8♦5♣ board. g0epr0 had to be content with $23,240 for 5th place.

GR8MIND was fighting hard as the short stack and landed a double up with pocket sixes against veeea's ace-king, before diemaus36o also secured a double finding a lucky three with ace-three to crack AtlasC's ace-queen.

It gave the shorties some breathing room but a flop of Q♦J♣4♠ would spell the end for diemaus36o. It was a three-bet pot with three players involved, and AtlasC leading out with a bet. diemaus36o moved all in holding K♦T♦ for the open-ended straight draw, however veeea wasn't going anywhere, making the call with K♣K♥ as AtlasC got out of the way. The 7♥ turn and 5♥ river missed the straight draw for diemaus36o who was left to collect an impressive $33,200 for 4th place.

veeea was in a commanding position and continued to pound on the two opponents before GR8MIND made a stand with A♣J♣. veeea was racing with 2♦2♠ with the lucky ducks holding on the board of 6♥4♦Q♠9♦3♦. GR8MIND finished in 3rd place for $43,575 in prize money.

Heads-up chip counts
Seat 3: veeea (1831690 in chips)
Seat 7: AtlasC (243310 in chips)

veeea was in control with a 7.5-to-1 chip advantage. These two players had shown plenty of aggression throughout so we were expecting to see a quick heads-up battle.

The first half a dozen hands were pretty quiet before the two erupted on a flop of A♣5♠T♠. AtlasC led out with a bet before veeea moved all in. AtlasC made the call with 6♥5♥ for bottom pair but would need some help against veeea's K♦T♦ middle pair. The turn was the J♣ which changed nothing while the T♣ river was the exclamation point for an emphatic victory for veeea. AtlasC was strong throughout and deserving of $59,137.50 for 2nd place as veeea is our Super Tuesday champion, winning $79,638.50. Congratulations!
