Victory for vindog03 in 4/15/14 Super Tuesday earns $108K

After 10 straight weeks of 600-plus player fields in the Super Tuesday -- including a record 711 players two weeks ago -- this week's tourney saw that streak end with 573 turning out to play. That turnout still created a healthy $573,000 prize pool, nearly twice the event's $300K guarantee, and after a little over 11 hours it was vindog03 of the United Kingdom prevailing over a tough final table including Brandon "oncommand" Meyers, Peter "twirlpro" Turmezey, and Patrick "pmahoney22" Mahoney to earn a $108,297 first prize.

It took just under five-and-a-half hours for the money bubble to burst and with 72 players left kemi_81 led with just over 150,000 with KornHizzle20, Peter "twirlpro" Turmezey, and Brandon "oncommand" Meyers the other other players with more than 100,000.

Min-cashers earning $1,890.90 each included Rory "Mafews" Mathews (72nd), Aaron "AaronBeen" Been (71st), Dani "supernova9" Stern (70th), Alexander "Schildy1984" Debus (68th), and Chris "d0r1t0s" McClung (65th).

Included among those following them to the rail over the next two hours were Viktor "metallist353" Podofedenko (59th, $2,005.50), Luuk "pokerkluka" Gieles (54th, $2,292), João Mathias "joaomathias" Baumgarten (50th, $2,292), Fernando "fviana" Viana da Costa (46th, $2,292), Németh "Probirs" András (44th, $2,292), Brian "brianm15" England (39th, $2,578.50), Emil "Emilohlsson" Ohlsson (38th, $2,578.50), Ozenc "ozenc" Demir (33rd, $2,865), Tom "hitthehole" Middleton (23rd, $3,438), and Alex "AK87" Kim (20th, $3,438).

By then Patrick "pmahoney22" Mahoney had pushed into the top spot with more than 330,000 with Peter "twirlpro" Turmezey his nearest challenger with just over 250,000.

It took about an hour more for nine for to fall. JasonX85 (18th), GaborMarton (17th), and all in 2526 (16th) each earned $4,584. pleasepick (15th), cwirek1982 (14th), and garyknife (13th) each ended with $5,730 cashes. And daskalos20 (12th), insanocut (11th), and Roman "RomeOpro" Romanovskyi (10th) came away with $6,876 apiece.

With Brandon "oncommand" Meyers having moved into first position with more than 650,000, the final table was set.

Seat 1: vindog03 (United Kingdom) -- 314,972
Seat 2: hallodio (Belgium) -- 146,972
Seat 3: Brandon "oncommand" Meyers (Mexico) -- 656,963
Seat 4: gnetaren (Sweden) -- 162,536
Seat 5: Patrick "pmahoney22" Mahoney (Mexico) -- 544,775
Seat 6: Peter "twirlpro" Turmezey (Hungary) -- 345,211
Seat 7: susie00 (United Kingdom) -- 205,106
Seat 8: Harel82 (Israel) -- 289,158
Seat 9: MistheMan (Canada) -- 199,307

About an orbit into the final table, the blinds were 3,200/6,400 when susie00 opened for 12,800 from middle position. vindog03 then reraised to 28,100 from the hijack seat. From one seat over hallodio then pushed all in for 175,772, and it folded back to susie00 who stepped aside. vindog03 was quick with the call, however, tabling A♥A♠ while hallodio had Q♦Q♣. The board rolled out 5♦6♣3♣J♥3♦, and hallodio was out in ninth.

It would take nearly an hour more for the next elimination to come, during which time the blinds increased to 4,500/9,000. After vindog03 raised to 18,000 from under the gun, gnetaren reraised all in for 191,481 from a couple of seats over and it folded back to vindog03 who called. vindog03 had K♥K♠ and gnetaren J♥J♣, and five cards later -- 5♣4♠8♦A♦8♥ -- gnetaren was eliminated in eighth.

They were next approaching the 10-hour mark of the tournament when Peter "twirlpro" Turmezey min-raised to 24,000 from the cutoff seat, susie00 pushed all in for 120,329 from the button, then Harel82 reraised all in from the small blind to chase the big blind and Turmezey who flashed his K♦J♣ as he folded. Harel82 had Q♠Q♥ and susie00 A♠9♣. The board came 6♣3♠4♣, then K♣, then 6♥, and Harel82's queens remained best as susie00 was sent railward in seventh.

It would be nearly a half-hour more before Brandon "oncommand" Meyers went out in sixth place in a hand that began with a vindog03 raise to 2x to 32,000 from UTG, an all-in push by Meyers from a seat over for 282,261, then a reraise-shove from the cutoff by Patrick "pmahoney22" Mahoney that cleared everyone including vindog03. Meyers had T♣T♥ but needed help against Mahoney's J♥J♣. The eight-high board -- 5♦7♠2♦8♥2♣ -- didn't bring any such improvement, and Meyers was done in sixth.

About 10 mnutes after that vindog03 again min-raised to 32,000 -- from the button this time -- then Peter "twirlpro" Turmezey reraised all in for 143,661 total from the big blind and vindog03 called. Turmezey had A♦J♥ and two overcards against vindog03's T♠T♥, but the 9♠3♥7♦K♠3♠ didn't help twirlpro whose run concluded in fifth.

The blinds increased again to 9,000/18,000, then MistheMan opened for 36,000 from the small blind and vindog03 called from the big blind. The flop came all clubs -- J♣Q♣2♣ -- and after a MistheMan check, vindog03 bet 38,200. MistheMan responded with a check-raise shove for 293,252, and vindog03 called in a flash. MistheMan had Q♥9♥ for top pair, but vindog03 had flopped a flush with 9♣7♣. The board completed K♠ then J♦, and MistheMan was done in fourth.

The remaining three were nearing the 11-hour break with vindog03 having moved well in front with more than 1.82 million with Harel82 next with about 775,000 and Patrick "pmahoney22" Mahoney in third with just under 270,000. Mahoney was adding another deep run just after having won the ANZPT6 Perth Main Event title about six weeks ago (as pictured below).

Soon vindog03 was min-raising to 36,000 from the small blind, pmahoney22 reraising all in for 266,537 from the big blind, and vindog03 calling. Both had aces, but vindog03's A♣Q♦ had Mahoney's A♥8♣ dominated. The community cards came K♦6♣J♠5♣9♦, and pmahoney22 was out in third.

vindog03 started heads-up play with a better than 2-to-1 advantage with 2,092,240 to Harel82's 772,760, and soon added further to increase the lead.

Harel82 managed to double back up with A♣A♦ versus vindog03's J♣9♣ in a preflop all-in confrontation that saw Harel82 ultimately draw quad aces. But vindog03 soon whittled Harel82 back down to just over 500,000 when the final hand took place.

The blinds were 10,000/20,000, and vindog03 started things with a min-raise to 40,000 from the button. Harel82 responded with a push for 503,420, and vindog03 called. Just as with Mahoney before, vindog03 had A♣Q♣ and a dominating hand over an opponent with Harel82 holding A♠5♥. The flop came K♣Q♦2♦ to add further to vindog03's lead, then the J♣ fell on the turn to give Harel82 hopes of a drawing a straight to chop. The 4♥ then fell on fifth street and it was all over... vindog03 had won!
