mahmuttt88 goes all the way in 2/9/16 Super Tuesday

The largest weekly buy-in online poker tournament in the world continues to attract the world's best players and showcase some tremendous poker, and today's Super Tuesday was no exception. When it came down to the final two players we saw two Scandinavian warriors going at it in for almost an hour an entertaining heads-up battle on the PokerStars felt. After former TCOOP winner ministerborg quickly rejected the thought of a heads-up deal, it would be mahmuttt88 who overcame the chip deficit to claim the Super Tuesday crown and almost $100,000 in prize money!

A field of 515 players would turn out for the $1,050 Super Tuesday which meant a prize pool of $515,000 was formed to easily surpass the advertised guarantee. The top 63 players finished in the money but the $2,266 min-cash eluded fishbones11 from Canada who was our unlucky bubble.

After eight and a half hours of grinding the final table was formed when short-stacked Jason "jdtjpoker" Wheeler moved all in from under the gun with A♣T♠ only to find ministerborg make the call in the big blind with a dominant A♥J♣. The board bricked out and our final table of nine was set as follows:

Final Table Lineup
Seat 1: Sergio "zcedrick" Aido (88,383 in chips)
Seat 2: ministerborg (558,003 in chips)
Seat 3: tots18 (116,916 in chips)
Seat 4: mahmuttt88 (488,643 in chips)
Seat 5: canario508 (213,352 in chips)
Seat 6: tonkaaaa (168,738 in chips)
Seat 7: PhilRoyal888 (386,330 in chips)
Seat 8: ShefanHilaly (424,512 in chips)
Seat 9: Alexander "Schildy1984" Debus (130,123 in chips)

It would only take a few moments to lose our first player with Alexander "Schildy1984" Debus the one to fall. The former WCOOP champion three-bet all in preflop with 8♣8♥ but PhilRoyal888 made the call with a superior J♠J♣. The board ran out 2♣4♠3♥3♦A♦ which was no help to Schildy1984 who picked up $8,549 for ninth place.

canario508 survived elimination with a double up holding ace-queen against the king-queen of ministerborg, before mahmuttt88 took another slice out of the chip leader with an ace-high flush.

However ministerborg regained the ascendency with the elimination of tonkaaaa. ministerborg opened with a raise preflop and tonkaaaa flat-called in the big blind before both players checked the 6♣T♠5♦ flop. tonkaaaa led out with a bet on the 7♥ turn and ministerborg made the call to see the 8♠ complete the board. tonkaaaa checked it over to ministerborg who bet enough to put his opponent all in. tonkaaaa made the call and tabled a deceptive A♣A♥ however ministerborg showed 8♥9♥ for the ten-high straight. Aces cracked left tonkaaaa to depart in eighth place for $11,587.50.

tots18 landed a double up with pocket sevens against ace-queen to leave Sergio "zcedrick" Aido crippled. With just over three big blinds, zcedrick moved all in with Q♦J♦ and was called by mahmuttt88 who had made a cheeky under-the-gun raise with 7♥T♦. zcedrick held the lead on the T♣6♣J♠ flop and nothing changed on the 4♥ turn, however the 7♠ appeared on the river to improve mahmuttt88 to two pair for the knockout. zcedrick, who was once seated on arguably the most famous SCOOP Main Event final table in history, picked up $16,737.50 for his seventh place finish.

Just three hands later and tots18 would also be eliminated from the final table. After ShefanHilaly raised from under the gun, tots18 moved all in holding A♣J♣. The table folded back around to ShefanHilaly who made the call with a dominant A♥Q♦. The board bricked out 8♠6♣9♥4♠3♠ to leave tots18 to collect $21,887.50 for sixth place.

Play settled down a little with five left, with most players out of the danger zone. mahmuttt88 and PhilRoyal888 held a slight advantage with canario508 the short stack.

However canario508 was quick to turn that around with two big pots in succession. The first was a Broadway straight against ShefanHilaly and that was followed with a full house next hand against ministerborg.

mahmuttt88 kicked up the aggression to increase the chip lead, before ministerborg took over at the top after the elimination of ShefanHilaly in a cooler of a hand. After a raise and a call preflop, both players checked the flop before the fireworks erupted on the turn. The board read 4♥5♦J♥T♣ and ShefanHilaly led out with a bet from the big blind. ministerborg raised and ShefanHilaly moved all in. ministerborg made the call and ShefanHilaly tabled 4♣4♦ for a flopped set of fours. However ministerborg had caught gold on the turn with T♦T♥ for a set over set! The river was the K♦ leaving an unlucky ShefanHilaly to depart in fifth place for $28,325.

Just two more hands would pass before canario508's tournament also came to an end. After a raise and call preflop, canario508 moved all in over the top of both opponents with Q♣J♦ however couldn't shake ministerborg from a dominant A♠Q♠. canario508 took the lead with a pair of jacks on the 9♣3♣J♠ flop, and the 2♣ turn was a brick, but the A♠ ace from space arrived on the river to give the pot to ministerborg with a pair of aces. canario508 picked up a very nice $40,170 for fourth place.

The three-handed battle was an intense one between PhilRoyal888, ministerborg and mahmuttt88, but it was ministerborg who was able to chip away to build a handy lead.

PhilRoyal888 got caught on a bluff with ace-high which failed to get past ministerborg's flush before mahmuttt88 inflicted further pain with a full house to leave the former Sunday Warm-Up winner in some trouble.

With a stack of almost fourteen big blinds, PhilRoyal888 moved all in from the button with K♥T♣. mahmuttt88 found A♣7♣ in the big blind and made the call which paid off on the board of 2♥9♣A♠5♥J♥. mahmuttt88 took it down to leave PhilRoyal888 to collect a handsome $52,787.50 for third place.

Heads-up chip counts
Seat 2: ministerborg (1,410,440 in chips)
Seat 4: mahmuttt88 (1,164,560 in chips)

The stacks were pretty close and mahmuttt88 was quick to throw up the idea of a deal, but ministerborg wasn't interested.

mahmuttt88 said, "deal?"
ministerborg said, "no thanks"
ministerborg said, "lets play"
mahmuttt88 said, "ok gl"
ministerborg said, "ty"
ministerborg said, "u2"

ministerborg won the first two significant pots, holding an ace both times, to jump out to a two-to-one chip lead. However mahmuttt88 chipped away at the deficit before landing a major blow with a turned straight that got paid off on the river.

mahmuttt88 was winning more than a fair share of the pots without getting to showdown to claim the lead with a minimum of fuss.

ministerborg fought back with a Broadway straight of his own, but the momentum was with the player from Finland and the final pot would ultimately be pushed in the direction of mahmuttt88.

After a single preflop raise, the two players saw a flop of T♦6♦3♣. mahmuttt88 checked from the big blind and then check-raised, but ministerborg called to see the A♠ hit the turn. mahmuttt88 fired out another bet and ministerborg called to see the 7♥ complete the board. mahmuttt88 bet enough to put his opponent all in and ministerborg made the call with T♠5♦ for a pair of tens, but that wasn't enough as mahmuttt88 had spiked a gutshot on the river holding 9♦8♠ for a straight for the victory!

ministerborg narrowly misses a Super Tuesday title with second place worth $72,100 as our champion today would be mahmuttt88 who pockets a whopping $97,850. Congratulations!
