Super Tuesday: Comeback bags Cashcid Linc $59K, third title (7-25-17)

Winning the Super Tuesday once is a notable feat. Winning it twice is enough to join some select company. What about a third win? That's a great question to ask Germany's Cashcid Linc. After surviving all-in coin-flip situations a few times early on, claiming the chip lead, and then losing it again, Cashcid Linc came storming back against a lineup of accomplished regulars to close the book on a trilogy of Super Tuesday victories.

It took eight and a half hours to wind this week's 321-player field down to the final table, where Cashcid Linc wielded one of the shorter stacks against an array of past Super Tuesday, Sunday Million, and COOP winners:

Seat 1: L1VeYRdrEamS (975,816 in chips)
Seat 2: srxakgirona (1,566,461 in chips)
Seat 3: Cashcid Linc (630,418 in chips)
Seat 4: RasA86 (310,280 in chips)
Seat 5: cliff47 (606,108 in chips)
Seat 6: the_snail03 (921,796 in chips)
Seat 7: Ryan "gutshtallin" Welch (682,810 in chips)
Seat 8: majo-K88 (1,591,675 in chips)
Seat 9: hdjgkfkgsdl (739,636 in chips)

Past Sunday Warm-Up champ RasA86 was in decent shape when the final table began despite having the shortest stack, thanks to the 8,000/16,000/1,600 blinds and antes. Going without a win for the first half-hour of play changed that, though, and 5♠ 5♥ on the 12,500/25,000/2,500 level was as good as gold in the cutoff. RasA86 opened all-in for 204,600 chips and got action from the_snail03, who had A♥ 8♣ in the small blind. The 8♠ on the flop was enough to bust RasA86 in ninth.

Almost all of those chips ended up in Cashcid Linc's stack a few hands later when the_snail03 9♦ 9♠ re-raised all-in with 9♦ 9♠. Cashcid Linc called with A♥ J♦ and spiked the A♠ on the river for a double to 1.3 million chips.

After another 15 minutes Cashcid Linc scored an even bigger pot with A♣ A♠ in middle position. The German player opened for 72,000 chips and called when 8th Anniversary Sunday Million runner-up hdjgkfkgsdl shoved for 629,678 in the big blind with 7♥ 7♠. No sevens hit the board and hdjgkfkgsdl was out in eighth.

The 11 p.m. ET hour closed out with a win for Australia's L1VeYRdrEamS, who became a Sunday Million champion back in May. L1VeYRdrEamS opened in early position with A♠ K♥ and called when past Super Tuesday winner Sergi "srxakgirona" Reixach jammed for 560,846 chips with 7♣ 7♠. An ace on the flop and a king on the river sent srxakgirona to the rail in seventh.

WCOOP 2014 Sunday Million Special Edition champion Ryan "gutshtallin" Welch had a 27,420-chip edge over cliff47 as play resumed at midnight ET. He was left with just those chips two hands after returning from the break after opening under the gun for 80,500 with T♣ T♥ and then moving all-in when cliff47 re-raised to 230,000 from the small blind. cliff47 called with Q♥ Q♠, which held up on the 6♣ 8♠ 6♥ 4♣ 7♥ board. gutshtallin was forced in on the big blind next hand with T♥ 6♦; that fell to Cashcid Linc's A♠ K♦ to eliminate gutshtallin in sixth.

Following that burst of action at the end of Tuesday evening, the first half-hour of Wednesday morning was sedate. Few pots ended up worth as much as five big blinds and not much changed aside from L1VeYRdrEamS climbing the ladder by aggressively going after those small pots. the_snail03 ended up tangling in two big pots once the blinds and antes were up to 25,000/50,000/5,000, and they combined to drive the U.K. player from the table.

Past Super-Sized Sunday champion majo-K88 was in the big blind on the first of those when the_snail03 raised enough to commit majo-K88's stack in the small. majo-K88 called for 851,202 with A♣ 4♦, which made a pair of aces on the J♦ A♠ 6♠ K♣ 3♥ board to stay ahead of Q♣ 5♣ and claim the 1.72-million-chip pot. Three hands later the_snail03 jammed under the gun with A♦ 3♦. cliff47 called for 587,169 chips total with A♠ K♠ in the big blind and made the nuts on the T♠ 3♠ 4♣ T♥ 2♠, ending the_snail03's tournament in fifth.

Cashcid Linc (2.47 million chips) and cliff47 (2.22 million) were on top now, while majo-K88 (1.68 million) and L1VeYRdrEamS (1.63 million) were still well within striking distance. L1VeYRdrEamS scored a 2.05-million-chip win at Cashcid Linc's expense early on but then lost a flip three hands later with 6♣ 6♠ to the German player's trip jacks with A♣ J♣.

That left Cashcid Linc better off than before at 3.03 million chips. Then majo-K88 pierced that bubble after four more hands, hitting two pair on the river of a contested pot with K♥ J♠ to beat Cashcid Linc's flopped two pair with K♣ 4♣ and moved into the lead with 2.88 million chips.

The back-and-forth ended when cliff47 picked up K♠ K♥ under the gun, opened for 132,000 chips, and called L1VeYRdrEamS's 1.13-million-chip shove in the big blind. L1VeYRdrEamS had 8♥ 7♥ but came up one card short of an eight-high straight on the 4♣ 4♠ 3♦ 5♥ Q♣ board, falling in fourth to cliff47's cowboys.

That left the table three-handed as the final break began at 12:55 a.m. ET. Cashcid Linc pulled down a couple of seven-figure pots after returning from the break - one from each opponent - to move into the lead with 5.4 million chips. Then cliff47's two losses in four hands shrank the field for the final time.

First cliff47 called with K♥ Q♣ in the big blind after majo-K88; both players made a pair of sixes and the ace kicker took the 2.34-million chip pot. Three hands later cliff47 called all-in for 575,226 chips with K♠ J♣ in the big blind after Cashcid Linc opened all-in from the small. Cashcid Linc's Q♥ 6♥ was the underdog before the flop but made a pair of sixes, which was all it took to eliminate cliff47 in third.

majo-K88 faced a little worse than a 2-to-1 disadvantage as heads-up play began and went on the attack early, claiming a few small pots and then holding firm in the face of aggression with K♣ 3♠ for a pair of treys and a 1.55-million-chip pot. But all of the other large pots in the next 10 minutes would fall Cashcid Linc's way, including the last, which Cashcid Linc opened all-in on the button with Q♥ T♥. majo-K88 called with 6♣ 6♦ and lost to a flopped Broadway straight, finishing in second after the board fell K♦ J♣ A♥ 3♥ 5♦.

Both of Cashcid Linc's previous victories came in a three-month span of 2015, starting with a win in mid-July just as the World Series was winding down in Las Vegas. Now comes a win just after the crowning of poker's newest world champion. Combined with those previous victories, tonight's cash gives Cashcid Linc a total of $230,250 in winnings as a three-time Super Tuesday champion. Congratulations on the big win!
