Over in an instant: HustlerGrune wins Sunday Warm-Up
Despite the national holiday weekend for the American rounders, 3,780 players were near a computer to put down $215 for the $750,000 guaranteed Sunday Warm-Up thus pumping up the prize pool to $756,000.
Team PokerStars Pro Hevad "RaiNKhaN" Khan was going strong after getting into the money and got his 270,000 worth of tournament chips in the middle with pocket aces against queens, but a lady on the flop ended his day in 130th place ($831.60). Hevad's finish was a far cry from the amounts the final nine played for tonight, including a six-figure payday of $118,692 for the winner.
1$ickDisea$E captured a win in the $215 Mixed Hold Em' two weeks ago and is already assured of eclipsing the $3,700.00 won. teacuppoker walked away with over $80K after making the final table of the SCOOP Main Event Hi buy-in tourney last month (see the live blog here /en/blog/scoop/2009/scoop-event-22-high-10300-nlhe-main-even-038430.html) and was shooting to improve on that score tonight but had to settle for 15th place. BKiCE notched $13,150.80 for fourth place last week in the weekly $320 NLHE tourney but had to settle for being the final table bubble boy tonight when his Q♠J♠ could not out run the huge chip leader BAnAnIEBAnAn's A♠9♥ on the K♠ 2♣ 8♣ 3♣ 7♠ board taking home $4,536.00 for tenth and setting up our final table below:
Seat 1: HustlerGrune (5054122 in chips)
Seat 2: gsbets (2410624 in chips)
Seat 3: 1$ickDisea$E (3597611 in chips)
Seat 4: BAnAnIEBAnAn (9926845 in chips)
Seat 5: G8vMyLfeAway (5083188 in chips)
Seat 6: Kaerm (2085901 in chips)
Seat 7: erot1 (4854500 in chips)
Seat 8: megas (2070103 in chips)
Seat 9: Ruguebye (2717106 in chips)
BAnAnIEBAnAn came into the final table with nearly twice as many chips as G8vMyLfeAway and HustlerGrune. megas was the first recipient of a double up, taking most of 1$ickDisea$E's stack when megas' A♥A♠ held up over the big slick K♠A♣ of 1$ickDisea$E leaving the Supernova with under four big blinds as they started over at 65,000/130,000 ante 13,000. No worries though for his railbirds, as 1$ickDisea$E would double up three times in the next ten hands to become solvent again.
gsbets was one of the victims of 1$ickDisea$e's comeback, and was blinded down to 1.4 million chips when facing the third consecutive preflop raise by erot1 while holding pocket eights 8♦8♥ in the small blind. A choice to shove over the top of the aggressive erot1 seemed like the right play until erot1 snap called with pocket rockets A♣A♥. After erot1 flopped his set and turned a boat on the A♠ T♠ J♣ J♦ Q♠ board, it was time to bid gsbets farewell in ninth place ($6,048.00).
With the blinds increasing to 80,000/160,000 ante 16,000 the smaller stacks got an itch to take their battles preflop. Kaerm sitting on two million in chips decided to take pocket ducks 2♠2♦ swimming in the deep end of the pool, open shoving all-in from one off the cutoff. Once again, pocket rockets A♠A♦ appeared in the caller's hand. This time HustlerGrune made the easiest call in poker out of the big blind. HustlerGrune would make an unnecessary broadway straight after the Q♦ T♣ K♣ 6♦ J♣ board played out awarding 4.3 millon chips to HustlerGrune, and $9,450.00 to Kaerm in eighth place.
At the break, BAnAnIEBAnAn still held a comfortable chip lead as the players returned to 100,000/200,000 ante 20,000 blinds:
Seat 1: HustlerGrune (5477585 in chips)
Seat 3: 1$ickDisea$E (2210183 in chips)
Seat 4: BAnAnIEBAnAn (11036487 in chips)
Seat 5: G8vMyLfeAway (5430413 in chips)
Seat 7: erot1 (5136873 in chips)
Seat 8: megas (4124096 in chips)
Seat 9: Ruguebye (4384363 in chips)
Ten hands after returning from the break 1$ickDisea$E's ticket was punched not by the swine flu, but HustlerGrune. Check out the seventh place ($17,010.00) finisher's wild ride through the A♠ J♦ 8♦ T♥ 9♠ board:
With the 4.5 million chip pot, HustlerGrune topped the nine million chip mark nearing the stack of chip leader BAnAnIEBAnAn's total, as the rest of the table hovered around the mid-four million chip mark.
As the blinds rose to 125,000/250,000 ante 25,000 blind steals were often met with all-in three bets as six pots in a row were worth over one million chips, and the aggressive erot1 making off with three of those six pots.
Eventually, one of those three-bet all-in plays was going to get called, and Ruguebye was the victim. megas cut out a 588,555 chip raise from the button and Ruguebye decide to opt for the popular three-bet all-in with 8♠ 7♣. The middling cards were well behind the A♣Q♣ that HustlerGrune called with in and covered from the big blind as megas meekly made for the exit door. This one was over by the turn as HustlerGrune would fill up by the river Q♦ K♠ 9♦ 9♣ Q♥ and send home Ruguebye in sixth place ($24,570.00).
Maybe because the $5.50 Omaha H/L Ante Up tourney was starting or pizza was at the door that caused the remaining five to finish in a shade under ten minutes, but the action was just that quick.
First erot1 knocked out most of BAnAnIEBAnAn's chip stack when erot1's pocket jacks J♦ J♥ held up against BAnAnIEBAnAn's A♠Q♣ for a 14 million chip pot. Then on the very next hand another all-in preflop confrontation took place. This time megas with just 2.6 million left shoved with pocket fours 4♣4♦ in the small blind over the top of G8vMyLfeAway's opening 585,000 chip raise. No pocket aces this time as G8vMyLfeAway flipped up A♦8♣ for the coin flip that ended quickly on the Q♠ A♥ 9♦ 2♣ T♥ board. megas added a very large haul of $32,130.00 for the fifth place finish.
Three hands later it was G8vMyLfeAway's tournament life on the line against HustlerGrune. Watch the action play out below:
The two outer nine on the river was worth 15 million chips for HustlerGrune and $43,470.00 in fourth place for G8vMyLfeAway.
No time to discuss a chop? Not when you finish places four through first in back-to-back-to-back hands.
Even Team PokerStars Pro Chad Brown who was filling in as the MC this evening quipped how quickly we finished up.
With just 2.8 million chips left, facing an all-in raise from mega-stacked HustlerGrune, and paying the 250K big blind, BAnAnIEBAnAn decided the dealt pocket threes 3♣ 3♠ were worth a gamble. The gamble looked great as HustlerGrune flipped up 2♣K♦, but HustlerGrune would flop a second king and turn two pair on the 6♥ 8♠ K♠ 2♦ 4♠ board as the final table beginning chip leader would post a strong third place finish tonight earning $62,370.00
No time to catch your breath around here as all the money went in AGAIN pre-flop for the third hand in a row. Watch as HustlerGrune's preflop advantage over erot1 hold for the win:
The ladies held up for HustlerGrune claiming this week's Sunday Warm-up Champion title and $118,692.00 for the win, as erot1's strong aggressive play earned $88,452.00 tonight as the runner-up.
It is our hope the players took a couple of seconds to admire their new found wealth before hopping perhaps into some WSOP sats as the race for seats to the WSOP Main Event heat up.
Congratulations to all our final table participants tonight and check back tomorrow on PokerStars.TV for the Sunday Warm-up wrap show to take you behind the cards to some of the steals and re-steal we were not privy to tonight.
