Sunday Warm-up: Twice as nice, Dsavo takes down 2nd Sunday Warm-up title in three weeks

sunday-warmup-thumb.jpgTonight's Sunday Warm-up starts off the Sunday Majors as most of PokerStars' fans are looking towards Nassau and PokerStars Caribbean Adventure kicking off Day 1B of the Main Event. Already in the books was the PCA Super High Roller $100,000 buy-in tourney won by Eugene Katchalov who banked $1.5 million for the win. But, the runner-up Team PokerStars pro Daniel Negreanu made news as his one million dollar 2nd place check made him the current winningest player in tournament poker history. We also solved the mystery identity of high-rolling "Isiludr1" who we will now refer to as Team PokerStars pro Viktor Blom.

As for the 4,657 high rollers in tonight's $750,000 guarantee Sunday Warm-up, they would have a shot at a cool $146,120.21 for a first place prize after a long ten hour battle.

Several Team PokerStars players stepped away from the their umbrella topped drinks and Kaliks to play tonight. Vadim Markushevski, Jose "nachobarbero" Ignacio Barbero, Victor Ramdin, Thomas Bichon, Marcello Del Grosso, Joe Cada, Denys Shcherbakov, Toni Judet, Joep van den Bijgaart, all decided to get back to into the PCA action early and busted before the 675 player money bubble burst.

One Team PokerStars pro toughed it out for a deserving cash as German pro George Danzer was the online member of Team PokerStars to turn his $215 ticket into money this evening cashing out in 347th place ($409.81).

The lone Team PokerStars pro cash: George Danzer 347th place

After nine hours of play we still had 14 left as players like Faraz "The-Toilet 0" Jaka and recent Sunday Warm-up champ Dsavo /en/blog/sw/2010/sunday-warm-up-dsavo-destroys-final-tabl-076918.html were among those with chips. The final table bubble burst was delayed several times by short stacks doubling up as the blinds reached 125K/250K ante 25K before we could name our final nine. Elduderino67 snuck a queen onto the Q♥ 3♥ 2♠ 4♠ 2♣ board to eliminate VEENSTRA.R holding big slick to the dude's A♠Q♦. And just as quickly we would have our final nine errr... eight.

Faraz "The-Toilet 0" Jaka 12th place ($5,588.40)

A double elimination during hand-for-hand play gave us a shorten final table tonight as Foggsy who just took a sizable beat losing with queens vs. pocket eights still had 2.3 million and called the shove of unta from the big blind holding K♦J♣. unta playing the role of bully from the small blind flipped up Q♦6♦. This time the bully walked away with the lunch money as a six in door held thru the 6♠ T♥ A♣ T♦ 2♣ board for the 5.2 million chip pot and eliminated Foggsy. But, on Table 219 there was also an all-in as micro stacked ff0x was all-in for just 709,028 chips after shoving from UTG and found a caller in pokerguru69 in the big blind holding A♠Q♠. ff0x's weaker ace A♥6♦ wasn't looking so hot and was shot down early with a queen showing up on the flop and held thru the Q♦ 5♦ 9♥ 9♠ J♦ board to end ff0x's end officially in 10th place ($5,588.40). By rule of having more chips at the beginning of the hand, Foggsy was awarded ninth place ($7,451.20) and our delayed final table began at once:

Seat 1: Elduderino67 (10329792 in chips)
Seat 2: pokerguru69 (5952580 in chips)
Seat 4: menyomomz (1788936 in chips)
Seat 5: J_soldier (3513663 in chips)
Seat 6: Dsavo (4866455 in chips)
Seat 7: unta (8645750 in chips)
Seat 8: daveamoroso7 (4459668 in chips)
Seat 9: insfran (7013156 in chips)

High blinds and we solider on

Just two hands after our shorten roster of eight final tablists sat down we would escort one to the door. With the blinds starting off at 125K/250K ante 25K menyomomz tried to open push a short stack of 1.4 million from the small blind hoping the big blind was asleep. J_soldier snapped to attention holding K♥J♦ and made the call. menyomomz produced two live cards 8♠T♦ one of which caught the flop 8♥ 3♠ K♠ but the king held the lead for J_soldier. Another king would join on the turn K♦ making the A♥ river moot and sending menyomomz home in eighth place ($11,642.50).

Chip stacking guru

Still in the 125K/250K ante 25K blind level daveamoroso7 would try to shove 2.8 million from the cutoff but was met with resistance from pokerguru69 in the small blind who shoved over the top just in case J_solider in the big blind wanted to come along for the ride. J_solider would fold quickly as pokerguru69 flipped up pocket tens T♥T♦ and daveamoroso7 held A♥Q♠ good for a 6.1 million chip race. Despite adding two outs on the flop, daveamoroso7 could not connect with the 7♠ K♦ J♥ J♠ 9♣ board and exited in seventh place ($20,956.50).

For the chip lead

Two medium sized stacks decided they wanted the chip lead so unta and insfran put their chips in preflop for the first eight figure pot of the final table. Check out the results below:

unta's A♣T♣ would hold over insfran's A♥4♣ on the 6♥ 7♦ 7♠ 3♥ 9♠ board for the huge 11.9 million chip pot taking over the temporary chip lead and knocking out insfran in sixth place ($30,270.50).

Dude you lost your chips

J_solider momentarily held the chip lead with the blinds at 200K/400K ante 40K but promptly lost most of those trying to bluff unta preflop with T9o as unta calmly called the bully's push with pocket aces and those aces held up. After losing that 17 million chip pot, J_solider marched on with just 2.5 million chips and was facing a min-raise from Elduderino67 in the same blind level. Holding A♠Q♦ J_solider pushed those chips in the middle and got the call he was looking for in a weaker ace held by Elduderino67 8♥A♣. What J_solider was not looking for was the eight on the flop 6♠ 8♣ T♣ and the 2♦ turn and 4♣ river did not provide a re-suck as the 5.5 million chip pot was ship to Elduderino67 and "Taps" was played for the end of J_solider's tournament life in fifth place ($39,584.50).

Former champ making a run at title #2

Watch this hand between pokerguru69 and Dsavo as the former Sunday Warm-up gets a little stronger:

With blinds at 250K/500K ante 50K moves need to be made and pokerguru69 went for it from the small blind shoving while holding 5♣4♥ and Dsavo's weak ace A♦3♥ proved to be strong enough to win 9.3 million chips on the 8♦ T♦ 3♠ 6♣ Q♥ board and sent pokerguru69 off with $52,624.10 in fourth place.

Two hands later Dsavo's chances to become a two-time champ of this tournament brightened greatly after a double up off unta for a 22.5 million chip pot when Dsavo's A♣Q♦ bested the A♥T♠ of unta to turn the tables on unta's dominating stack and take over the chip lead.

"can't give up anything like that I just won this 3 weeks ago, don't mind gambling"

Dsavo to unta who was asking for a little bit too much for the chip leader's taste as the final three got down to making a deal. After a little friendly banter, the three were able to come up with the deal below:

Dsavo: $117,744.81
unta: $108,711.00
Elduderino67: $95,013.01

The dude did not appreciate the turn

Shortly after the players settled back into their seats, Elduderino67 made it clear he wanted to gamble in attempts to get that extra $10,000.00 for winning the tournament. With blinds at 250K/500K ante 50K unta raised from the button to the tidy sum of 1,212,121 chips as Elduderino67 in the small blind simply shoved for 8.6 million. Dsavo folded as unta took a few moments before calling with J♠K♥. Elduderino67 was slightly ahead with the suited ace 9♠A♠ and survived the flop 8♣ Q♣ Q♠. The dude would not get by the K♦ turn however and failed to catch on the 2♣ river collecting $95,013.01 from the chop agreement in third place.

Dsavo the Second?

In order to become a two-champ Dsavo was starting off heads-up play with a handicap as unta held 28.4 million to Dsavo's 18.1 million as the players saw the blinds going up fairly shortly.

Dsavo takes down a second Sunday Warm-up title

Dsavo would take down five of the seven hands during heads-up play including the below game winner:

After the blinds moved up to 300K/600K ante 60K and unta now behind 18.3 million to 28.2 million, Dsavo limped in from the button as unta raised to 1.5 million getting a call from Dsavo. 4♦ K♠ 7♣ on the flop as unta followed through with a 1.7 million chip bet and Dsavo pumped it up to 3.8 million. unta was not letting go, and three-bet to 16 million as Dsavo holding top pair J♥K♦ shoved unta all-in for 549,967 more. unta showed the bluff and needed an ace badly A♦8♦. 8♠ on the turn opened up two more outs but the T♣ wrapped up Dsavo's second Sunday Warm-up title in under a month's time!
