Sunday Warm-up: TheJunobv is the obv winner after three-way chop
You made it through Groundhog's Day, Valentine's Day, and on Wednesday everyone gets an extra day of February for Leap Year. One day of the week every month, and not just in February is special for online players at PokerStars. The Sunday Major are always a cause for excitement with the huge prize pools from the Sunday Million and the occasional special tourney like the $55 buy-in Red Spade open with bounties on the Team PokerStars Pro and Team Online players. Tonight's $500,000 guaranteed Sunday Warm-up had no shortage of excitement as you will have to read below about how TheJunobv took home the title this week.
First, a trio of Team PokerStars Pros and Team Online would make their way deep into the cash this evening as Alex Kravchenko tried to sneak pocket eights past the pocket queens of (soon to be final tablist) pyszalek finishing in 138th place. Team Online's Javier El_Cañonero Dominguez would stopped just a few more places north in 127th place when his pocket deuces failed to outflip the big slick of No Limit NL.
In what is becoming commonplace Team Pro Martin Staszko once again found himself deep into the cash in the Sunday Warm-up. This time with 70 players left and blinds at 10K/20K ante 2K Martin would shove over 102,568 from UTG + 1 as Miltos14 made the call from the small blind holding a medium ace 8♦ A♣. Staszko showed K♣ T♥ needing some help that would never come as the board fired off blank for the WSOP Main Event runner-up 6♦ 6♥ J♥ 2♦ A♦ ending the Team Pro's night in 70th place ($1247.12).
Down to two tables Chris "ImDaNuts" Oliver was out looking for a major title after popping up last at the Turbo Championship of Online Poker's Main Event final table where he claimed $285,310.93 as the runner-up. Today would not be that day after his pocket aces were caught by Danneville's pocket queens making an unlikely straight as Oliver took 17th place ($2,200.80).
Bubble time and Danneville was once again in the mix as the blinds moved up to 65K/130K ante 13K as Milana Jones shoved from the cutoff for 1.28 million. Folded to Danneville waiting patiently in the big blind with pocket tens T♦T♠. Milana Jones' 9♠A♥ needed an ace to stay alive for the title but watched helplessly as the board tumbled out 3♣ 4♦ 5♦ 8♥ 6♣ ending Milana Jones' chance at a second Sunday Major final in two months taking 10th place today ($4,401.60) after taking sixth place in the Sunday Million for $44K just last month. With Milana Jones' departure it started up the final table below:
Seat 1: Zackattak13 (5701471 in chips)
Seat 2: ZERGA_77 (4114910 in chips)
Seat 3: pyszalek (5420458 in chips)
Seat 4: elmerixx (3780219 in chips)
Seat 5: TerranUser (3028033 in chips)
Seat 6: donnanelly (2901396 in chips)
Seat 7: Danneville (2770994 in chips)
Seat 8: TheJunobv (7051862 in chips)
Seat 9: bigchampnr.1 (1910657 in chips)
Zack on the attack
Zackattak13 would make short work of our eighth and ninth place finishers. After moving through the 65K/130K ante 13K level with little excitement Zackattak13 got bored and decided to eliminate two players nearly back-to-back. First, with the blinds up to 80K/160K ante 16K elmerixx would raise it up to 330,000 as Danneville called and Zackattak13 three-bet to 999,999. elmerixx immediately shoved for 3.2 million as Danneville immediately folded. Back to Zackattak13 with big slick K♠A♣ and enough to cover he made the call. Pocket jacks J♣J♥ for elmerixx would not survive the flop as the ace hit the third card and the 4♦ 8♣ A♦ 9♣ T♦ board sent elmerixx home in ninth place ($5,868.80).
Two hands later bigchampnr.1 tried to slow play pocket aces A♣A♥ but little did the German know that after the Q♠J♣J♣ flop he was drawing to two outs against Zackattak13's Q♦J♦ flopped boat. The third ace never found its way to the turn 8♣ or 7♦ river and Zackattak sent bigchampnr.1 home in eighth place ($9,170.00).
Fast going faster
Just another two hands went down as Zackattak13 sat on the big stack to sit out the hand below between TheJunobv and TerranUser:
TerranUser needed to catch something with A♠Q♣ up against the pocket tens T♣T♦ of TheJuobv. Despite the mountain of outs trickling down the 9♣ 5♣ J♠ K♣ J♥ board TerranUser could not catch and took home $16,506.00 in seventh place.
Obv the best hand does not always win
With the blinds still at 80K/160K ante 16K and players falling quickly, TheJunobv started out with a min-raise as donnanelly three-bet from the big blind to 800,000. Back to TheJunobv and the answer was a shove to 10.3 million more than easily covering the 2.7 million still held by donnanelly. Holding pocket queens Q♦Q♠ donnanelly quickly made the call and faced off against TheJunobv's pocket fives 5♣5♦. No wasted time on a five hitting the board as the five of hearts would finish 5♥ 9♥ T♣ T♥ 7♠ donnanelly's night in sixth place ($23,482.00).
Finally moving on to the 100K/200K ante 20K level after the previous level decimated nearly half the table. Zackattak13 fired the bullet with a min raise as pyszalek shoved over the top for 2.6 million holding big slick A♥K♥. Zackattak13 over 13 million in chips had no problem making the call with Q♦A♦. pyszalek however may have had a problem with a queen showing up on the 6♠ 9♦ 4♣ Q♥ J♥ board end the Polish player's night in fifth place ($31,178.00).
Lymon Zerga wins again
From Ocean's 11 Lymon Zerga helped Danny Ocean rip off the biggest heist in Las Vegas history. No such tactics were needed for ZERGA_77 with the blinds holding at 100K/200K ante 20K and Danneville shoving 2.3 million chips from the cutoff with 9♣A♠, ZERGA_77 woke up to big slick K♣A♦ in the big blind and made the call. Both would pair their kickers on the flop, but Danneville needed another nine and would not find it on the 9♦ K♦ 2♥ 6♠ Q♣ board to finish in fourth place ($42,182.00). Not Danneville first go round at a Sunday Major final table as the Swede almost completed the Sunday Warm-up/Sunday Million double after taking down the Million back in July of 2009 for over $200K
THREE WAY DEAL
Pius Heinz would step into the length chop conversations and poke a little fun at Zackattak13's inability to click off the CAPS LOCK key. But, after some banter WE FINALLY GOT IT DONE! Leaving $10K for the champ tonight, the figures on the chop below:
Obv the winner
Rather be lucky than good, but being lucky and good makes for a deadly combination. Watch below as TheJunobv and ZERGA_77 knot up for a 13.4 million chip pot preflop:
Pocket eights 8♠8♣ for TheJunobv would need to overcome the pocket jacks J♦J♣ of ZERGA_77 for the chip lead. All was clear until the rivered eight hit 4♣ 4♥ 7♠ 5♥ 8♦ giving TheJunobv the huge pot as ZERGA_77 took home the agreed chop amount in third place ($73,476.93).
TheJun is the obv champ
Starting out with a 20.3 million to 16.3 million chip lead over Zackattak13, TheJunobv would take only seven hands to take down the title. After Zackattak13 came out firing and winning the first three hands, TheJunobv would take down the next three setting up the massive 32 million chip pot for the title. With the blinds still at 100K/200K ante 20K TheJunobv would min-raise from the button as Zackattak13 three bet to 999,999 and TheJunobv made the call to see some ducks on the flop 2♥ 2♣ A♠. Zackattak13 led out for 1.2 million as TheJunobv made the call. K♣ turn and Zackattak13 slowed down to check as TheJunobv bet 2.45 million. This time Zackattak13 smooth called for the K♠ river as Zackattak13 checked again but this time TheJunobv would shove enough to put Zackattak13 all-in. Holding an ace A♥8♦ Zackattak13 made the call only to see TheJunobv's flopped trips and rivered boat with 2♠J♠. The deuces full earned TheJunobv the extra $10,000.00 and this week's Sunday Warm-up title!
