Sunday Warm-Up: PhilRoyal888 marches to $101K win
Tonight's final table of the $500,000 guarantee Sunday Warm-Up appeared be a nothing more than a ceremony for the chip leader. While k-bossss01 came into the final table towering over the competition with nearly 40 percent of the chips in play, it would be PhilRoyal888 powering through the massive chip leader and outlasting the 3,236 other entrants to take down the $101,642.70 first place prize.
Kevin "ImaLuckSac" MacPhee's elimination in 18th place ($1,942.20) capped off a heck of a weekend for the EPT champ. After taking out Team PokerStars Pro and EPT Deauville champ Jake Cody during the EPT London Main Event final table yesterday, MacPhee nearly captured his second EPT title finishing runner-up to Sebastian Pauli.
Only 15 players would make it to the ninth hour of play including someone who has a chance to become a repeat winner in this Sunday Major. Germany's KeyserMM took down the Sunday Warm-Up back in April for $85K and was looking to the same tonight. SCOOP 2012 Event #28-M champion Jamie_KK would make it to hand-for-hand play as a flurry of eliminations in the first six minutes left five players left at each table.
Despite the rush to flick on the spotlights of the final table, hand-for-hand play would linger on for over 20 minutes. Jamie_KK held on a shortstack for sometime despite sitting to the direct left of massive chip leader k-bossss01. With the blinds up to 65K/130K ante 13K Jamie_KK would shove 1.17 million from the button as k-bossss01 three-bet to 2.47 million from the small blind after starting the hand with almost 12 million. k-bossss01's pocket aces A♦A♣ would fend off Jamie_KK's Q♦K♦ despite a turned flush draw 3♦ 7♥ 2♣ 9♦ 7♣ to open up the final table below:
Seat 1: thAzArKK (1406228 in chips)
Seat 2: PhilRoyal888 (1341533 in chips)
Seat 3: k-bossss01 (13353300 in chips)
Seat 4: Expekter (1959401 in chips)
Seat 5: m0nster1989_ (3941772 in chips)
Seat 6: Vodkaa&Bears (3501580 in chips)
Seat 7: KeyserMM (1399678 in chips)
Seat 8: Guigabraza (3566648 in chips)
Seat 9: bestgringo (1899860 in chips)
Just six hands into the final table one player would be given a rather chilly exit. The blinds holding at 65K/130K ante 13K Guigabraza would raise to 292,500 from early position as Expekter shoved 1.68 million from the cutoff. Vodkaa&Bears jumped into the fray by shoving 3.42 million chips from the big blind as Guigabraza got the message and folded. Expekter's big slick K♣A♥ would be looking up at the pocket kings K♠K♥ of Vodkaa&Bears. A tepid 5♦ 4♣ 5♥ 8♠ T♥ board raised no excitement as Expekter collected $5,179.20 in ninth place.
Five minutes later bestgringo's run with a shortened stack would end. After doubling up KeyserMM on the final table's first hand, bestgringo failed to pick up any pots to stay alive. In the Israeli's final hand with the blinds still at 65K/130K ante 13K KeyserMM would min-raise from middle position as bestgringo tossed in 175,182 chips from the button getting both blinds to fold. KeyserMM called with Q♦A♠ as bestgringo was dominated once again holding A♥6♥. No relief came on the T♠ 4♥ 7♠ 7♣ K♣ board as bestgringo earned $8,092.50 in eighth place.
As the blinds moved up to 80K/160K ante 16K Guigabraza tried unsuccessfully to knockout thAzArKK, but the shorter stack held ace-queen versus Guigabraza's ace-ten shipping a 4.1 million chip pot to thAzArKK. Owning just 37,159 chips the remains would go in the next hand as thAzArKK and KeyserMM would square off with heavy betting on every street of the 4♣ 7♦ 5♣ 5♠ 3♣ board. KeyserMM was likely shocked at the outcome after turning over the king-high flush T♣K♣ to see the 4.69 million chips shipped to thAzArKK's ace-high flush A♣Q♣. Guigabraza's cards remained hidden (until the replay tomorrow) mucking them in seventh place ($14,566.50).
MMissing from the action
The tournament would go through the 100K/200K ante 20K level without incident. However, as the blinds moved up to 125K/250K ante 25K one more player would be asked to relinquish their seat. KeyserMM started off with a shove for 2.48 million as it folded all the way around to Vodkaa&Bears in the big blind holding Q♣K♦. The two face cards were worth a call as KeyserMM showed the suited T♦A♦. A king in the door K♠ 4♣ 5♥ 5♣ 7♣ would send KeyserMM out in sixth place ($21,040.50) and unable to capture a second Sunday Warm-Up title this year.
Nothing to be afraid of
The message from the administrator with guidelines for discussing a deal would pop up occasionally as whispers of making a five-way deal came across the chat box. But, the table did not come to an agreement to stop the clock as the 150K/300K ante 30K level stayed quiet except for k-bossss01 losing the chip lead to Vodkaa&Bears. 15 minutes before the 11th hourly break with the blinds up to 200K/400K ante 40K m0nster1989_ would shove 3.77 million from the cutoff as thAzArKK made the call from the small blind holding pocket eights 8♥8♦. m0nster1989_ flipped up Q♥A♥ but an eight showing up first on the 8♣ 4♦ 3♦ T♠ K♦ board ended m0nster1989_'s night in fifth place ($27,514.50).
The mighty has fallen
After an unsuccessful four-way chop discussion, once mighty chip leader k-bossss01 would be reduced to shortstack status after doubling up PhilRoyal888. With the blinds holding at 200K/400K ante 40K and four hands after losing the big 12.3 million chip pot, k-bossss01 would shove 1.3 million from the button getting a call from thAzArKK in the big blind holding Q♣T♣. k-bossss01's ace-high A♠3♥ looked great after a turned ace showed up 9♥ K♦ 5♦ A♣. But, the J♥ on the river gave thAzArKK the nut straight as k-bossss01 took away $37,225.50 in fourth place.
Buying the drinks tonight
With the blinds moving up to 250K/500K ante 50K and right before the 12th hourly break, PhilRoyal888 would press the chip leading 17.5 million chip stack from the button as Vodkaa&Bears made the call with J♥K♠ for 4.97 million in the small blind. PhilRoyal888's A♦5♣ would safely navigate the 4♣ 2♥ 6♥ 4♠ 9♣ board as Vodkaa&Bears will be able to cover a few bar tabs after winning $53,410.50 in third place.
No deal means more money for PhilRoyal888
Our final two tonight would take a few moments to discuss alternative financial arrangements. But, there would be a slight disagreement with the disbursements so play would rage on with blinds at 250K/500K ante 50K. Just three minutes into heads-up play with PhilRoyal888 holding a 23 million to 9.3 million chip lead, thAzArKK would shove those chips over a min-raise. PhilRoyal888 was happy to oblige with action holding Q♥A♦ and even happier to see thAzArKK dominated A♥9♥. The board K♠ T♦ 3♣ 3♠ 6♠ did not improve either hand as PhilRoyal888's queen kicker took down this week's Sunday Warm-Up winning $101,642.70!
