Sunday Warm-Up: Drey Day, Dr_Drey15 wins $79K

Due to a (not-so) little poker tournament series happening for over the next month, the field for the $500,000 guarantee Sunday Warm-Up was a tad short. PokerStars would pony up a few dollars to meet the guarantee as the 2,432 players managed to get to the final table in just eight hours. After a frantic start to the final table, a pair of Brazilians would play for the title. Dr_Drey15 would overcome BundAA's sizable chip lead to take away the Sunday Major and $79,000.00.

Read below for details on Dr_Drey15's perfect day.

As the table compacted down to two after eight hours of play, the current chip leader prebz was on-target to make quick work of this Sunday Major. The chip leader's stack would only grow after knocking down Eddie LCF in 16th place ($1,850.00) and a few hands later ended rouliroul's run in 14th place ($2,550.00).

Prebz has a decent dossier of cashes including final tabling the Super Tuesday in August last year (fourth place for $37K) and January for $55K.

On the adjacent table Dr_Drey15 made quick work of Check 90 (11th place, $3,250.00) and Eyal_A in 12th place ($3,250.00) to start hand-for-hand play. Dr_Drey15 would rack up a few blinds before ktm2502t did the dirty work of knocking out ziduart on the bubble starting up the final table below:

Seat 1: stephensmc (843234 in chips)
Seat 2: ktm2502t (2519807 in chips)
Seat 3: prebz (6436812 in chips)
Seat 4: Mikaroc (1411563 in chips)
Seat 5: Dr_Drey15 (6618372 in chips)
Seat 6: BundAA (2537248 in chips)
Seat 7: WadeShaq03 (508747 in chips)
Seat 8: sonmonedas (1132812 in chips)
Seat 9: fubonuts (2311405 in chips)

Because of the late rally, Dr_Drey15 would start the final table first in chips with prebz closely behind.

At the first break Team PokerStars Online Pro Roy "GodlikeRoy" Bhasin would officially welcome everyone to the table. He barely finished typing before a three-way all-in broke out between stephensmc, Mikaroc, and Dr_Drey15 who covered all bets.

Mikaroc J♣J♠ and stephensmc Q♥Q♦ both had big pairs while Dr_Drey15 flipped up big slick A♦K♦. Two kings on the flop K♥ 9♥ K♠ 4♠ 6♣ nailed down the 4.6 million chip pot for Dr_Drey15. Two players would be asked to leave, Mikaroc, who has been here before in 2013, would finish in ninth place again ($4,250.00), and stephensmc in eighth place ($7,250.00).

WadeShaq03 sitting on the shortstack with just over four BBs was more than happy to see the double KO. With the blinds currently at 40K/80K ante 8K but moving up on the next hand, WadeShaq03 (Miami Heat fan?) would shove 324,747 chips as ktm2502t and BundAA made the call. 7♦ 2♦ 6♣ flop woke up ktm2502t enough to bet 640K as BundAA left. WadeShaq03's A♣Q♣ dominated preflop but ktm2502t's 7♠A♦ turned the tables postflop. No reversal on the K♣ turn and 8♠ river as WadeShaq03 took away $12,250.00 in seventh place.

The fast pace did not stop there as two hands later BundAA decided to join the party. With the blinds up to 50K/100K ante 10K sonmondedas would shove 1.37 million over a min-raise from Dr_Drey15 and a call from BundAA. Dr_Drey15 got out of the way but BundAA called with Q♣K♠. Pocket sevens 7♠7♥ for sonmondedas could not survive the Q♥ 2♣ A♦ 5♣ 6♣ board earning $17,250.00 in sixth place.

Done in the first hour?

Maybe these players have a flight to Vegas to catch as after the next hand only four remained. Dr_Drey15 would min-raise from the hijack seat as fubonuts shoved 2.1 million from the button holding K♣J♣. Fubonuts will be able to get to the airport on-time as Dr_Drey15 flipped up kings K♠K♦ and notched an unnecessary flush 2♠ 5♠ 4♣[ Js] Q♠. Fubonuts would be shipped $22,250.00 for fifth place as the players finally let this writer come up for air.

Time warp 37 minutes later

Despite several all-ins, all four players would continue on the quest for the $79K sitting up top. With the blinds up to 80K/160K ante 16K ktm2502t, hanging in there after doubling up in the previous hand, would call all-in holding 9♥A♠ against a bullying BundAA's 6♦K♦. Not only did BundAA catch the pair but the flush as well T♣ 5♦ Q♦ 6♣ 2♦ ending ktm2502t's tournament in fourth place ($29,250.00).

No major for prebz

Another high finish, no hardware as prebz would go out fighting. With the blinds up to 100K/200K ante 20K prebz clinging to 1.87 million chips would shove over a min-raise by Dr_Drey. Pocket nines 9♦9♠ made the call easier managed to out-flip prebz's big slick A♥K♠ on the Q♠ 6♠ Q♦ Q♣ 7♠ board. No title, but another sizable cash for prebz finishing in third place ($42,500.00).

Not so fast

BundAA's 18.7 million to 5.6 million chip lead looked too great of a mountain for Dr_Drey15 to pass. Instead it would just take a little time.

A half-hour into the battle Dr_Drey15 would get within a half-million chips as the turning hand came about. With the blinds up to 150K/300K ante 30K BundAA raised to 636,000 as Dr_Drey15 three-bet to 1.76 million. After a second five appeared on the turn 5♠ J♠ T♦ 5♥ Dr_Drey15 would shove for 8.1 million as BundAA made the call with K♦J♣. Kicker problems for BundAA as Dr_Drey15 showed A♥J♥. No king on the river 4♥ as Dr_Drey15 pickup the massive 23.8 million chip pot.

BundAA's scraps would last for two hands as it was Dr_Drey15's day earning $79,000.00 as this week's Sunday Warm-Up champion!
