Sunday Warm-Up: Jon "LUFCBas" Spinks earns second title and $63K after deal

Usually during "let's make a deal" time at the Sunday Warm-Up there are players who have been here before with several -COOP wins/final tables and those who are looking to make the most of their first Sunday Major final table. The ending of this Sunday Major held a threesome of players who all have wins online and live causing a wrinkle while hashing out a three-way deal.

Phill "Grindation" Mcallister, Jon "LUFCBas" Spinks, and yadio have all been here before as their experience showed through the three-handed chop and subsequent play towards the title. Spinks would overcome a huge chip deficit to defeat yadio heads-up and earn his second Sunday Warm-Up title and $63,170.84.

Read below for the second Sunday Warm-Up title run of Jon Spinks.

Call it another signature training video for Rob "robtinnion" Tinnion's coaching website as the double Sunday Million winner was attempting to add another Major title to his collection. Instead Tinnion would settle for passing up 2,396 players finishing in 18th place ($1,787.10) after eight hours of play.

Two players with a slew of high Major finishes would follow Tinnion out the door. UncleAnte9, most recently a third place showing in SCOOP 2015's Event #22-H, would narrowly miss out on another final table earning $2,463.30 in 15th place. Closely behind (or ahead for that matter) Yuri "theNERDguy" Martins who finished as the runner-up in last year's WCOOP Main Event (banking $708K) would bow out in 13th place ($2,643.30).

Down to hand-for-hand play yet another Major winner was searching for an additional title. Johan "busto_soon" Van Til took down the Sunday Million in January and was riding a chip roller coaster with two tables left. But, with the blinds up to 40K/80K ante 8K Van Til would three-bet all-in for 1.54 million holding J♣A♣ as the original raiser, shinerrr, made the call with A♥K♠. The better kicker made it to the finish line 8♥ 2♣ 2♠ Q♠ 7♥ as the Sunday Warm-Up final table started up below:

Seat 1: shinerrr (4185872 in chips)
Seat 2: Phill "Grindation" Mcallister (1290794 in chips)
Seat 3: Mr.Nicky86 (3828080 in chips)
Seat 4: IRONMAN3012 (2821570 in chips)
Seat 5: LaliTournier (1473490 in chips)
Seat 6: Jon "LUFCBas" Spinks (1107823 in chips)
Seat 7: yadio (5511013 in chips)
Seat 8: $h1tter$ (2802546 in chips)
Seat 9: Laphroaig22 (1128812 in chips)

Thanks to starting up the final table early, the players enjoyed the low blinds/chips ratio as it took nearly a half-hour for the first elimination.

With the blinds moving up to 50K/100K ante 10K opening chip leader yadio would min-raise from early position as $h1tter$ would three-bet to 483K. Yadio stepped it up with a shove for 5.6 million as $h1tter$ quickly called with jacks J♠J♥. The chip leader however would turn up pocket kings K♠K♦ that made it safely through the 5♦ 4♣ 9♣ 9♠ 8♥ board to flush $h1tter$ out in ninth place ($4,105.50).

Jon "LUFCBas" Spinks might want to consider sending shinerrr an apology note after this tournament. Their first tangle had the former Sunday Warm-Up champ holding ace-jack suited all-in against shinerrr's pocket aces. The flopped royal flush draw didn't get there but running jacks did to double up Spinks to 3.2 million chips. Seven minutes later with the blinds up to 65K/130K ante 13K shinerrr would min-raise as Spinks shoved for 2.9 million. Holding pocket kings K♠K♦ shinerrr called all-in as LUFCBas showed jacks J♦J♠. No waiting for the river this time as the flopped set 2♦ 8♣ J♥ 8♠ 5♠ of jacks sent shinerrr packing in eighth place ($7,003.50).

Six minutes later, yadio was back to increase the chip lead. Laphroaig22 (not the fine whiskey) faced yadio's bullying shove from the small blind holding just over a million chips and Q♦K♥. The shortstack made the call but yadio's T♠J♣ found a straight on the 9♥ 3♦ Q♥ 2♠ K♦ board to scoop up the 2.4 million chip pot and knockout Laphroaig22 in seventh place ($11,833.50).

The quick pace continued to pick up as the tenth hourly break loomed. With the blinds moving up to 80K/160K ante 16K IRONMAN3012's pocket sevens told Mr.Nicky86's ace-deuce it was time to leave in sixth place ($16,663.50).

Then, seven hands later Jon "LUFCBas" Spinks strengthened his shot at a second Sunday Warm-Up title after taking out a shortstacked LaliTournier in fifth place ($21,493.50). LaliTournier nearly took down the Sunday Women's title back in 2012 but earned quite a bit more with this Sunday Major run.

The tenth hourly break broke the silence in the chat box as Spinks and IRONMAN3012 implored about a deal. However, the chop buttons remained unchecked as four-way action continued with blinds up to 100K/200K ante 20K and yadio holding a slight lead on the field.

Spinks's stack would tumble a bit as he and IRONMAN3012 combined their stacks but the victor would still lag behind chip leading yadio and Grindation. With the blinds still at 100K/200K ante 20K Spinks pushed with pocket fives 5♦5♣ as IRONMAN3012 called all-in holding Q♣A♦. Queen on the flop, five on the turn, and near miss on the Q♥ K♣ T♣ 5♥ A♥ river sent IRONMAN3012 away with a loud guitar riff in fourth place ($28,255.50).

Shortly afterwards Phill "Grindation" Mcallister and yadio broke down to listen to ICM numbers and a possible deal. Yadio wanted an extra thousand, Spinks wanted a Ferrari, Grindation was as immobile as rush hour traffic in LA. Mcallister earned the right to be a little tough negotiating after chopping a Sunday Million and runner-up for a SCOOP watch in 2014. Yadio can back up the demands as well, after several -COOP final tables including a win in SCOOP 2013's Event #10-H for $127K.

In the end Spinks gave up a little bit an exchange for a beer at a future EPT event to nail down the deal below (leaving $8K aside for the champ):

yadio: $59,300.00
LUFCBas: $55,170.84
Grindation: $52,215.77

Yadio continued to roll up the chips owning more than Spinks and Mcallister combined as Mcallister's run for the weekly title was about to come to an end. With the blinds up to 150K/300K ante 30K Mcallister would shove for 5.9 million as yadio called from the big blind with Q♦A♣. Grindation could not get past the kicker problems holding A♥J♦ as the flopped queen Q♠ 6♠ 2♥ 4♦ 6♦ sent Mcallister packing in third place ($52,215.77).

While yadio brought a 19.9 million to 4.1 million chip lead with blinds at 150K/300K ante 30K to heads-up play, Spinks was not rolling over as he would even the score just eight minutes into the battle with timely aggression.

Yadio would press back taking a 16 million to eight million chip lead but doubled-up Spinks as the two squared-off preflop and Spinks's K♥6♦ would prevail over yadio's 8♣A♣ on the 7♣ 6♣ Q♦ 4♠ Q♥ board.

Three hands and 26 minutes into heads-up play, with the blinds up to 250K/500K ante 50K the players would reach the river T♣ 6♣ A♠ 7♠ A♥ with 6.6 million in the middle. Yadio tried to bluff all-in with betting nearly five million chips holding Q♥9♠ but Spinks found a call with 4♦T♥ taking away this week's Sunday Warm-Up title and $63,170.84!
