TCOOP 2013: Goods0077 has the goods in Event #44 ($33 Saturday Speedway Special)
Poker is a game of waves. Some days the waves just keep crashing on top of you, and others, you can just get on the perfect wave and ride it all the way to victory. Today, that wave headed all the way to Australia as Goods0077 literally had the goods after crushing his opponents in TCOOP Event #44.
It was the $33 Saturday Speedway Special Edition which attracted another huge field of 7,745 players to create a very nice $232,350 prize pool to exceed the guarantee.
In less than a couple of hours, the players had reached the money for the top 990 after Agent Bear from the United Kingdom bubbled in 991st place to miss the $53.44 min-cash.
Team PokerStars Pros Toni Judet, Martin Hrubý, Huberto Brenes, Angel Guillen, Victor Ramdin, Dale Philip and Max Lykov were among today's runners but missed out on the money, as Mickey Peterson (308th - $95.26) was the lone red spade to finish in the cash.
When lucky six 13 flopped a straight with 6♦5♥ to eliminate birmi on the FT bubble in 10th place, our final table line up was set as follows:
Final Table Lineup
Seat 1: jcm123jcm (1,403,424 in chips)
Seat 2: Hurloon (1,396,859 in chips)
Seat 3: Smit8191 (4,786,493 in chips)
Seat 4: canucksfa704 (1,175,397 in chips)
Seat 5: HeyJuiceBox! (2,011,156 in chips)
Seat 6: lucky six 13 (1,780,668 in chips)
Seat 7: Goods0077 (6,713,646 in chips)
Seat 8: CanIloan$? (1,573,546 in chips)
Seat 9: JustDanceOn (2,393,811 in chips)
Goods0077 held a nice chip lead, and with the final table blinds starting off at 105k/210k/21k, most of the other players were already under pressure from the rapidly-rising blinds.
Hurloon was first to make a move, sliding five big blinds all in from under the gun. Goods0077 made the call in late position with 9♥9♦ which was not the hand that Hurloon wanted to see with 9♣8♣. The board ran out 4♣Q♣8♥3♠5♥ to leave Hurloon first to the cashier in 9th place for $1,800.71 in prize money.
Just two hands later and it was canucksfa704 who was sent crashing to the rail in a devastating blind-vs-blind battle with Smit8191:
Smit8191 was way behind when the chips went into the middle, but pulled a remarkable full house to send an unlucky canucksfa704 home in 8th place for $2,788.20 in prize money.
The hard-luck stories continued with the elimination of JustDanceOn in 7th place. The Australian called all in from the big blind holding A♦7♦ following a button raise from Goods0077 holding a very dominated 8♣7♣. Again the poker Gods were up to their old tricks as the board was spread 8♥9♥5♦4♥K♣ to pair the eight of Goods0077 to take down the pot. JustDanceOn headed home with an extra $5,111.70 for a fine tournament.
CanIloan$? landed a big double up with A♥Q♠ winning a race against Smit8191's pocket eights, but Smit8191 was able to recover with the elimination of HeyJuiceBox! in 6th place - and it was another brutal one:
Another dominating hand bites the dust as Canada's HeyJuiceBox! would have to be content with $7,435.20 for 6th place.
The pots became a little smaller five-handed, and even the elimination of lucky six 13 wasn't a big one after blinding down to under two big blinds. lucky six 13 found A♥J♦ but Goods0077 had the goods with Q♥Q♠ with the pair holding true on the board of 7♦K♥T♠J♣9♣. A great effort by lucky six 13 ended in 5th place for $9,758.70 in prize money.
With Goods0077 holding a dominant chip lead, that advantage was extended further when Goods0077 collided with CanIloan$? who held the next largest stack. CanIloan$? shoved from under the gun for over twelve big blinds with 6♣6♦ and Goods0077 made the call in the big blind with A♥K♠. It was a key coinflip that went the way of Goods0077 on the river on the board of 9♣7♥T♥2♥A♠. CanIloan$? takes $12,779.25 back to the Netherlands for 4th place.
Goods0077 held over 80% of the chips in play as the quiet jcm123jcm was desperately short. A couple of double ups kept jcm123jcm alive but the luck turned when jcm123jcm looked down at Q♣Q♦. Hoping to double up against Smit8191's K♥5♠, it wasn't to be as the J♦4♣J♠K♣2♣ brought a king on the turn to end jcm123jcm's tournament in 3rd place for $18,588 in prize money.
Heads-up chip counts
Seat 3: Smit8191 (4,864,496 in chips)
Seat 7: Goods0077 (18,370,504 in chips)
Goods0077 held a big chip advantage, and Smit8191 was able to win the first heads-up hand, but that was as good as it got. The next four went the way of Goods0077, with the final hand seeing Smit8191 shove Q♥T♠ into Goods0077's A♦T♥. It hadn't been a good table for dominating hands, but this time the board of 6♦4♥9♥9♦7♦ left Goods0077's ace-high in front to collect the pot and the title!
Smit8191 takes $26,139.37 back to the UK with Goods0077 bringing the TCOOP title down under along with $35,344.83 in prize money!
