TCOOP 2013: pierrott77 survives hyper-madness in Event #50 ($215 NLHE Sunday Supersonic Special)
It's been a spectacular Turbo Championship of Online Poker (TCOOP) series. 50 events and millions of dollars in prizes have been given away at lightning speed. And what better way to end the series than a Wrap-up Party in the form of a $215 Hyper-Turbo as a the weekly Sunday Supersonic Special.
The event produced a field of 3,749 entrants to create a prize pool of $790,289.20 to smash the advertised guarantee.
The Team PokerStars Pros were out in force with Victor Ramdin, Mickey Petersen, Johnny Lodden, Nacho Barbero, Martin Hrubý, Humberto Brenes, Christophe de Meulder, Toni Judet, Liv Boeree, Lex Veldhuis, Matthias de Meulder, Jonathan Duhamel, Stavros Kalfas, Shane Schleger, Marcel Luske, Vicky Coren, Grayson Physioc, Naoya Kihara, Pierre Neuville, Joe Cada, George Lind and Angel Guillen all taking part but they failed to make an impression, falling short of the money for the top 495 players.
Also missing the cash was SHabush from Israel who was the unlucky bubble in 496th place to miss the $363.53 min-cash by the narrowest of margins.
Adrienne Rowsome (481st - $363.53), Max Lykov (437th - $371.43), Kevin Thurman (429th - $379.33), Fatima De Melo (161st - $829.80) all found themselves in profit, but the last longer for Team PokerStars went to Christian "el grillo" de León.
de León made it as far as the final three tables before running 8♠Q♠ into Shaun Deeb's Q♥K♦ to fall in 21st place for $2,015.23.
Deeb experienced a rollercoaster ride, but after losing a massive hand with ace-ten against pocket jacks, Deeb found himself short-stacked before falling on the final table bubble in 10th place when his rivered set of deuces wasn't enough to better agustin_kv's flopped set of eights.
It left us with a final table line up as follows:
Final Table Line up
Seat 1: HereFijiFiji (687,196 in chips)
Seat 2: Skrigepas (1,444,188 in chips)
Seat 3: agustin_kv (4,198,600 in chips)
Seat 4: Ilkinopoulos (2,050,276 in chips)
Seat 5: kansis47 (4,060,042 in chips)
Seat 6: foursixoff (1,198,980 in chips)
Seat 7: TinaK_91 (1,944,466 in chips)
Seat 8: adiwiz (2,073,732 in chips)
Seat 9: pierrott77 (1,087,520 in chips)
With the final table blinds starting out at 250k/500k/100k there wasn't any time for fancy play with our chip leader holding just eight big blinds.
HereFijiFiji was the short stack, and the first to go after getting it in with 6♠6♦ against adiwiz's A♦K♣. The board ran out J♣K♥2♠Q♣K♠ to see HereFijiFiji out in 9th place for $6,322.31.
Skrigepas would follow to the rail just one hand later. Skrigepas moved a little over two big blinds from under the gun with a strong T♠T♥ but ran into the monster Q♣Q♥ of kansis47. The board fell 5♣4♣8♠Q♠9♦ to leave Skrigepas to collect $9,878.61 for 8th place.
When the big blind rolled around to consume most of his stack, foursixoff committed with 9♦8♦ against pierrott77's J♦K♣. However the board of 7♠3♠J♥7♥8♠ paired pierrott77 to see foursixoff quickly to the rail in 7th place for $17,781.50.
There was still no time to breathe, as the blinds got hold of Ilkinopoulos. With less than one big blind, Ilkinopoulos was all in from under the gun with A♦7♣ and picked up two callers. The board ran out 2♣6♣8♠5♠6♠ to see TinaK_91 take it down with A♥8♣, and leave Ilkinopoulos to take $25,684.39 back to Azerbaijan for 6th place.
Five quickly became four as TinaK_91 was all in on the very next hand. It was a race with TinaK_91's A♥K♠ up against pierrott77's 7♠7♦. A scary flop for pierrott77, but the pair held on the board of Q♥Q♣J♥9♣3♦ to eliminate TinaK_91 in 5th place for $33,587.29.
The action was relentless as the very next hand, we saw yet another all in. This time it was agustin_kv who had less than two big blinds which were committed from under the gun with A♣J♥. adiwiz called in the big blind with K♦3♠ and paired up on the board of 3♣T♦8♣Q♥T♥. agustin_kv received $45,441.62 for a fine tournament.
pierrott77 held a slight lead three-handed but with the blinds so huge, it was still anyone's game. adiwiz picked up three hands in a row to gain the advantage after kansis47 picked up a very handy double up through pierrott77:
All looked lost for kansis47 on that flop, but an offsuit jack delivered the double. But it wasn't enough to save kansis47, as a few hands later, kansis47 shoved all in for six big blinds with 8♣5♣, only to discover pierrott77 call with a dominant 5♠A♠.
The board ran out A♦3♣9♠5♥Q♥ to give pierrott77 two pair and eliminate kansis47 in 3rd place for $65,198.85 in prize money.
Heads-up chip counts
Seat 8: adiwiz (5,821,014 in chips)
Seat 9: pierrott77 (12,923,986 in chips)
pierrott77 held the advantage and heads-up play lasted precisely one hand. adiwiz shoved from the button with 7♠T♥ and pierrott77 made the call with K♦9♠. The board ran out Q♣A♥4♠Q♥J♥ to leave king-high in front to give pierrott77 the victory!
adiwiz wins a very nice $92,463.83 as pierrott77 takes the 50th and final TCOOP title of the series, along with $124,077.54 in prize money. Congratulations!
