TCOOP 2013: Assad91 takes 97 minutes to win $23K and title ($109 NLO8 6-max HT)
On the front page of the PokerStarsBlog in the revolving window of recent story highlights the TCOOP 2013 symbol came up with a slogan "Play fast, win big". Well, today's 1,360 entries into the $109 buy-in Event #43 No Limit Omaha Hi-Low 6-Max Hyper-Turbo would get to put that catch phrase to its test. The reason for the very limit amount of late registration (30 minutes as compared to the normal 90 minutes) is due to the game's action. Throwing the 6-max and hyper-turbo on top of this version of four-card crack and it is like throwing six tons of nitroglycerins in a volcano. The experts placed the time for the final table to start for the golden card protector at 90 minutes and it took exactly... 90 minutes! The final six however only took seven minutes to hand $23,978.09 and title over to Assad91 who capitalized on a second chance at a TCOOP final table today.
Just six minutes into the tournament 38 players were already gone, perhaps scared by the three minute blind changes but likely pushed by the fact that waiting for only premium hands would get you blinded off with in the first 45 minutes. TCOOP Player of the Series leader wasted no time trying to build a stack but was knocked down to just 525 chips from the starting 5,000 in the first 15 minutes (later finishing in 803rd place). With 70 points (or a third place finish) separating Tinas21 from Artem205, nagyy88, and sbj100 all tied for 9th place, the point leader will likely require some decent finishes today and tomorrow to capture that 2014 PCA package and Champion's Trophy. Today's champion Assad91 made that leap by collecting 155 points in the last two days to take sole possession of third place.
In the early goings Triple COOP chaser Calvin "cal42688" Anderson would chase Ami "UhhMee" Barer off his table. Barer recently collected a $25,000 PokerStars Passport for finishing in 4th place overall on the 2012 PokerStars Tournament Leaderboard but failed to get through 20 minutes of this tournament.
Team Online took a couple of hits early as Mickey "mement_mori" Petersen and George "Jorj95" Lind were joined by Team PokerStars Pros Victor Ramdin and Marcin "Goral" Horecki among the early bustouts.
Prof_Boff would show Team Pro's Martin "AABenjaminAA" Hruby the door in 324th place after just 36 minutes. With the blinds up to 600/1,200 ante 240 both would shove preflop holding an ace with a wheel card, Hruby's 3♦ 7♠ A♥ 2♠ would get outkicked by Prof_Boff's Q♠ A♦ K♣ 3♥ after the board could not stop laying out jacks 7♣ 4♥ J♥ J♦ J♠. And when Team Pro Matthias de Meulder busted out a few minutes later in 270th place, all of the Red Spades were sent to terrorize another tournament.
The money bubble lasted exactly one hand at the 49 minute mark as SlaterDaKing (who took seventh place in TCOOP 2012 Event # 3 for $12,512.25) would bust on the stone bubble as the remaining 180 maniacs locked up at least $188.91 including Chris "ImDaNuts" Oliver who had an unfortunately bust out late in Event #38 last night.
At the one hour break only 101 players remained with 3K/6K ante 1,200 and a chip average of just over 10 BBs. Oliver would take the lead into the break, but found himself with another Triple COOP chaser on his right. Big_Nemo took down the WCOOP 2011 Event #24 and SCOOP 2011 Event #7-H looking to take down a TCOOP tournament in the quickest way possible.
The Triple COOP would have to wait for another tournament as Big_Nemo could not make any headway out of the gate and 10 minutes into second hour busted to firequak's fives full of nines to take 49th place ($385.08). An Event #38 final table reunion of pappadogg and assad91 remained possible after 15 minutes as just 35 players were still alive for the $23,978.09 first place prize. 35th place is what pappadogg took ($588.52) as Assad91 tried to notch a second final table of this TCOOP 2013 tournament series.
Oliver's stack took a dive in two straight hands but he battled back from just 5,800 chips to over 600,000 chips after winning four straight all-ins including a nifty two-outer queen on the river with the blinds going up to 15K/30K ante 6K and 22 players remaining.
Former Sunday Warm-Up champ ely_cash41 would claim 17th place ($1,184.32) and as long it took to type that sentence the tournament was down to eight players left after mvgto and Chris Oliver busted back-to-back in 9th and 10th place respectively ($2,325.05 and $1,525.81).
kalek122 kicked it in 8th place ($2,325.05) as hand-for-hand would be all about Assad91 bullying the table taking down all three hands including the bubble busting hand against evanski. With the blinds at 25K/50K ante 10K evanski pushed for 377,309 from the cutoff as Assad91 who made the call holding 8♥ J♥ 7♦ Q♦. evanski showed a better low with a pair of nines 9♠ A♣ 9♦ 3♦ but Assad91 would turned up the better flush on the 4♦ T♠ T♦ A♦ 4♣ board to start up the final table below:
Seat 1: 111fr! (1571550 in chips)
Seat 2: Assad91 (1648053 in chips)
Seat 3: shrekpoker91 (338976 in chips)
Seat 4: Pokerfred99 (2207566 in chips)
Seat 5: elmelogno4 (535837 in chips)
Seat 6: ratskerops (498018 in chips)

With the blinds up to 30K/60K ante 12K shrekpoker91 looked to scare some chips quickly with a shove for 314,976 and got a caller in elmelogno4. Suited aces A♣ A♠ 3♣ T♣ for shrekpoker91 was the preflop favorite over the all-low double suited 5♠ 5♦ A♦ 2♠ but three spades on the middle of the 5♥ 8♠ 9♠ 4♠ K♦ board shipped the 791K pot to elmelogno4 and $3,996.19 to shrekpoker91 in sixth place.
Anatomy of a final table victory in minutes: Final table time 2:32
The blinds held precociously at 30K/60K ante 12K as it was elmelogno4 turn to take a shot doubling up by calling the three-bet by Assad91. Suited aces T♣ 3♠ A♠ A♦ for elmelogno4 went looking to do some damage against Assad91's s 9♦ K♥ 5♥ A♥. But, much like shrekpoker91's suited aces, they would go down in flames after Assad91 caught a river straight Q♣ 5♠ T♥ T♦ J♣ to eliminate elmelogno4 in fifth place.
Anatomy of a final table victory in minutes: Final table time 5:05
The marathon stretch of the final table between fourth and fifth place came in at a whopping two minutes 33 seconds. Watch below as ratskerops and Assad91 speed up the process in naming our champion today:
Again it was Assad91 applying the boot to another player as A♦ 6♥ 2♥ 4♥ found an ace on the turn 8♠ Q♣ T♠ A♣ 8♦ to crack ratskerops' kings 2♣ K♠ K♥ 4♠ in fourth place ($9,300.22).
Anatomy of a final table victory in minutes: Final table time 6:10
The blinds now at 50K/100K ante 20K and Assad91 started tighten the screws to the remaining two other players holding 3.5 million to 1.33 million for 111fr! and 1.94 million held by Pokerfred99. Assad91 in the small blind would shove all-in holding 6♣ 3♠ 5♣ Q♣ looking to take the 210,000 chips in the middle. However, Pokerfred99 liked the 3♦ 7♠ A♣ K♦ enough to warrant a call for a 3.9 million chip pot. Three pair on the flop K♣3♣7♥ favored Pokerfred99 but straight and flush draws remained for Assad91. The 4♠ turn would hit the inside straight draw and the Q♥ river failed to fill-up Pokerfred99 as the October 2011 Sunday Warm-up winner took away $13,441.73 in third place.
Anatomy of a final table victory in minutes: Final table time 7:26
111fr! and Assad91 would tangle for a total of five hands and with Assad91 holding a 4.7 million to 2 million chip lead we would come to the final hand below:
No fourth level thinking needed here, just shove and get there as it was for this 97 minute hyper-turbo tournament. Assad91 took the high road 9♣ A♦ T♠ Q♥ after shoving from the button as 111fr! made the call with the low road 4♠ 3♥ 5♦ 6♠. The 8♣ J♣ T♥ 5♣ 8♠ board started high and failed to put out a low for 111fr! as Assad91's flopped straight would claim the $23,978.09 first place prize and the TCOOP 2013 Event #43 title!
