TCOOP 2017: gregor7878 wins Event #60 $700 Eight-Game; Rodrigo 'caprioli' Caprioli fighting for Player of the Series
The final day of the 2017 TCOOP had a little extra drama at the final table for Event #60 $700 Eight-Game. Two-time WCOOP winner gregor7878 added another COOP title to an already impressive resume after winning TCOOP Event #60 Eight-Game. Poland's gregor7878 navigated a tough field and final table including one of the hottest players in this year's TCOOP -- Rodrigo 'caprioli' Caprioli -- in addition to Russia's otitov, who won two SCOOP titles last Spring.
Brazilian pro Rodrigo 'caprioli' Caprioli was in a dog fight to win the Player of the Series. Caprioli won Event #11 and went into the final day of the 2017 TCOOP as second overall on the TCOOP Leader Board and trailing Sweden's Lena900 by 365 to 330. A third-place finish in Event #60 propelled Caprioli into the top spot on the Leader Board. He has to sweat out a couple more events on the last day of TCOOP, including the Main Event. However, his final-table appearance helped put himself on the inside track to win the 2017 Player of the Series.
The title in Event #60 Eight-Game came down to a heads-up battle between GuyACampbell and gregor7878. The two could not come to terms on a money chop that ended in a little lighthearted trash talking between the two. Twelve hands later, gregor7878 was the last player standing in Event #60. Poland's gregor7878 became the 2017 TCOOP Eight-Game Champion and the newest TCOOP winner.
2017 TCOOP Event #60 $700 Eight-Game attracted 167 players. They created a prize pool worth $111,055. Only the top 19 places got a cut with $22,225.19 initial set aside for the champion.
As the money bubble approached on the final four tables, Brazil's caprioli led with 250K. Fresh_oO_D bubbled in 20th place. With 12 to go on the final two tables, caprioli improved to 353K. As the final table approached, caprioli was either first or second in chips when action went hand-for-hand. During a round of Razz, Russia's FOMFGOAO bubbled off the final table. otitov's 9-6-3-2-A edged out WTFOMFGOAO's Q-8-7-6-A low. WTFOMFGOAO busted in seventh place and the final table was set.

The final table commenced during Level 77 with blinds at 240K/480K and a round of Seven-card Stud. Brazil's caprioli led with 558K and chess87 and GuyACampbell battled for the short stack with roughly 100K.
Brazilian pro Rodrigo 'Caprioli' Caprioli, was seeking a second title in the 2017 TCOOP. The Brazilian shipped Event #11 and took third in Event #17. Previously, caprioli won 3 SCOOPs including one in 2013. caprioli was also fighting for Player of the Series. A win would almost certainly improve his chances on locking up the top slot on the Leader Board.
Meanwhile, gregor7878 won two WCOOPs back in 2011 and 2014. Overall, gregor7878 shipped over $2 million online.

TWICE AS HARD: otitov eliminated in 6th place
At the fifth hand at the final table during a round of Stud, we saw the first elimination. Betting got capped on third street in a battle between otitov's (X-X)/5♥ vs. gregor7878's (X-X)/4♣. All the money went in on fifth street with otitov's (X-X)/5♥3♥8♠ vs. gregor7878's (X-X)/4♣J♦8♦. gregor7878 check-raised all-in. At showdown...
gregor7878 won the pot with Quads and came from behind to beat otitov's rolled up fives (versus rolled up fours). Crazy pot to kick off the final table fireworks. Russia's otitov became the first player to exit the final table. Sixth place paid out $5,328.41.
JEALOUS AGAIN: chess87 eliminated in 5th place
During a round of NL hold'em, another player bit the dust. This one was due to kicker issues. Super-short chess87 open-shoved for 130,886, gregor7878 re-shoved for 689,933, and everyone else bailed. Heads-up. gregor7878 led with A♣Q♦ against chess87's A♥9♦. The board ran out K♥6♥6♦7♦3♥ and gregor7878 dragged the pot with a pair of sixes and a better Ace-Queen kicker. Germany's chess87 was dunzo in ffith place, which paid out $7,090.01.
Wuth four to go... gregor7878 led with 843K, followed by GuyACampbell (374K), caprioli (341K), and Murrrr_@T (111K).
HARD TO HANDLE: Murrrr_@T eliminated in 4th place
During a round of Triple Draw, the final four lost someone. caprioli raised to 64,000, short-stacked Murrrr_@T re-raised all-in for 77,458 and caprioli called. On the first draw, both players discarded three cards. On the second draw, caprioli stood pat and Murrrr_@T discarded two. On the third and final draw, caprioli stood pat and Murrrr_@T discarded two more. At showdown...
caprioli won the pit with an 8-7-5-3-2 low against Murrrr_@T's Q-7-6-5-2 low. Germany's Murrrr_@T was knocked out in fourth place, which paid out $9,434.01.
With three remaining in the hunt for the TCOOP title... gregor7878 led with 934K, caprioli sat in second with 571K, and GuyACampbell was the shorty with 155K.
SHE TALKS TO ANGELS: caprioli eliminated in 3rd place
caprioli was down to his last 262K during Stud Hi/Lo when he attempted to double up. caprioli got it all-in on fifth street with (X-X)/K♠4♠9♠ against gregor7878's (X-X)/9♦T♥6♥. At showdown by the river...
Without a qualifying low, gregor7878 won the pot with a better two pair -- Aces and sixes vs. Kings and fours. caprioli was knocked out in third place, which paid out $12,552.94.
The Brazilian narrowly missed a second TCOOP this series. He has finished in third place no less than two times this TCOOP. The third-place finish propelled him to the top of the Leader Board. When this event ended, Caprioli led 400 to 365 over Sweden's Lena900.

Poland's gregor7878 held a slight edge when heads-up began. With levels only three minutes in length, the final two decided to discuss a money chop.
Any deal had to leave $2,221.10 on the table for first place. The numbers were floated with gregor7878 getting $18,450.09 and GuyACampbell getting $18,257.01. GuyACampbell quickly agreed, but his opponent had reservations.
"I'd like to take 19k," said gregor7878.
"I'm sure you would," quipped GuyACampbell. "Don't be greedy."
"I'm not. Just thinkin' that I'm a little better. So?"
"18600 if it makes you feel better," offered GuyACampbell, or only $150 more vs. $550. "It's better than the numbers. Don't be that guy."
"Alrighty then. Let's play."
Without a deal in place, action resumed.
SISTER LUCK: GuyACampbell eliminated in 2nd place; gregor7878 wins Event #60!
The two played 12 hands consisting of NL hold'em and PLO after the deal negotiations fell apart. gregor7878 won four out of the last 5 hands. gregor7878 trailed until the eleventh hand of heads up. gregor7878 dragged a 600K pot uncontested to take the lead. Going into the final hand, gregor7878 led 996K to 673K.
During a round of PLO... GuyACampbell limped for 12,500 in the small blind, gregor7878 bumped it up to 75,000 in the big blind, and GuyACampbell called. The flop was 6♣4♦2♠. gregor7878 checked, GuyACampbell fired out 150,000, gregor7878 check-raised to 591,000, GuyACampbell shoved for 598,660, and gregor7878 called.
gregor7878 led with a pair of Kings and a gutshot draw. GuyACampbell trailed with a pair of sevens and an open-ended straight draw. The turn was the J♠ and the river was the Q♦. gregor7878's pocket Kings held up to win the pot.
GuyACampbell headed to the virtual rail in second place. For a runner-up finish, GuyACampbell earned $16,703.01.

And special congrats to Rodrigo 'Caprioli' Caprioli for an excellent series. At press time, Caprioli seized the top spot on the Leader Board after a third-place finish.
