The eighth annual WCOOP is finally here. I've been waiting impatiently for this event as every year the prize pools and number of entries continues to grow.

The PokerStars WCOOP has to be the creme de la creme of all online poker tournaments. It is an opportunity for everyone from around the world - novice or pro - to really shine and have the chance to win the biggest titles in online poker. Where else in the world are you going to win hundreds of thousands of dollars, or even a chance to become a millionaire, and get recognized in the poker world in the comfort of your own home?

WCOOP - see here how you can win your seat - will be 62 online poker tournament compared with last year's 45. If last year's $51 million payouts for the 45 events is any indication, it should be very high indeed this year.

My best advice for the series would be to really mentally and physically prepare yourself by eating well and staying in shape as you will be sitting for very long hours. I intend to play in all hold'em events, and some mixed events. I'm most looking forward to the $5,200 main event.

In all of my years of playing the WCOOP, the most valuable advice I can give is to stay focused on one specific table, and avoid any disruptions such as watching TV, chatting online and talking on the phone.

During 2004 while playing the main event in the WCOOP I was chip leader with six players remaining. I open-raised with a pair fives under the gun and was called by the big blind. The flop was A-9-4 rainbow, the big blind checked I meant to bet 40K into a 85K pot instead I typed in an extra 0 to make it a 400K bet all due to my distractions. This is one valuable lesson that I will forever remember!

My best WCOOP results was in the 2004 main event in which I finished 6th for $92,000. I have also made a few final tables and numerous cashes. The adrenaline of being at the final table that year was just indescribable. It's a feeling that keeps me driven to work harder and play at my best to reach the final table and to grab the gold bracelet.

I don't know about the rest of you poker players, but my plans for the month of September are fully booked as I have a VIP seat in front of my computer.

Play good, and get lucky! Remember to visit the official WCOOP site to see how you can satellite your way and take part.
