WCOOP 2011: Turn your radio on

wcoop2009-thumb.jpgIt's possible that radios don't even exist anymore, at least in the form I know them. Younger readers may not have lived in a time in which tuning in a radio station was done manually, without the help of digital technology, in which Rock 99 was actually 98.7 on the radio dial. Hell, there's a very real possibility you don't know what a real radio looks like. I know I haven't seen one in ages. In any case, the days of real radio couldn't have imagined what the people at PokerStars have cooked up for this year's World Championship of Online Poker. So, forget those old days, huh?

Yesterday morning, WCOOP kicked off with three big events. Those three tournaments racked up more than $5.5 million in prize money. It's pretty clear, WCOOP is not going to be a small affair this year. We'll be reporting on the action from beginning to end, but if you need some audio stimulation, you need look no further than our friends Joe Stapleton and Nick Wealthall.

In just a couple of days PokerStars will be launching a daily WCOOP radio show and weekly WCOOP TV show.

The PokerStars Radio - WCOOP show will kick off on September 7 and run through the end of WCOOP in four different languages (including this one!). Stapleton and Wealthall will host winners, railbirds, and whoever else happens to come along in the crazy world of WCOOP. They'll also be giving away $50,000 in prizes. So, there's that.

Every week, the boys will put on some makeup and step in front of the TV cameras for a weekly recap on the action. If you haven't seen their pretty mugs yet, this is your chance.

Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu said, "Because the show is hosted by Joe Stapleton and Nick Wealthall, it won't be just another boring strategy show - listeners can expect to be entertained."
