WCOOP 2012: (RIP)C.McRae draws a win in Event 16 ($215 NL 2-7 Single Draw)

wcoop2009-thumb.jpgWhat does it take to win a WCOOP bracelet? For (RIP)C.McRae it took a little bit of patience, and then peaking at the right time. After sitting back in the shadows for most of the final table (RIP)C.McRae quietly chipped up on the way to getting to heads-up. When heads-up play began (RIP)C.McRae needed to get to work and that is just what happened, eventually getting the chip count to even and then taking the lead and not looking back on the way to collecting his first WCOOP bracelet.

The only 2-7 single draw tournament on the WCOOP schedule drew 423 players to generate a $84,600 prize pool with first place set to take home $17,343. Only 56 would earn their at least their buy-in back or more.

With a number of red spades sitting down to battle things out three survived to the money but no further. Team Online member George "Jorj95" Lind III lead the charge with a 24th place finish that was good enough for $676.80. That was two spots better than PokersStars Friend Charlotte "Sjlot" van Brabander. The only other red spade was PokerStars Pro George "GeorgeDanzer" Danzer who finished in 44th place.

With all the red spades out the remaining players worked towards the final table. By the time the final seven players all at one table WTFOMFGOAO held a substantial chip lead over the other six players. Here is a look at how they sat at the start of final table play:

Seat 1: 2ABailo (157,976 in chips)
Seat 2: BgsaPnaples (319,934 in chips)
Seat 3: dippidude (150,240 in chips)
Seat 4: DYBYDX (349,352 in chips)
Seat 5: (RIP)C.McRae (149,044 in chips)
Seat 6: LuckyLady519 (319,149 in chips)
Seat 7: WTFOMFGOAO (669,305 in chips)

The final seven wasted very little time getting down to six as the first hand on the final table saw the first elimination. Action got started before the first draw as DYBYDX min-raised from under-the-gun. It folded around to dippidude, in the big blind, who made it 56,000, DYBYDX called. dippidude stood pat while DYBYDX drew one. dippidude then open-shoved all-in for just over 92,000 and DYBYDX called showing 9♦8♣7♠4♠3♥ for the nine-eight low while dippidude showed T♠8♠6♥4♣2♣ for the ten-eight low. dippidude collects $2,072.70 for their seventh place finish.

The next elimination did not come as quick as they players played another hour before they could get down to five. After getting involved in a hand that saw the eight-seven-six held by BgsaPnaples get beat by (RIP)C.McRae's eight-seven-five BgsaPnaples moved all-in and was called by 2ABailo.2ABailo drew one and BgsaPnaples stood pat showing T♦9♣5♦4♠2♥ which was not good enough to survive against 8♥6♠5♠4♦2♠.

Much like how BgsaPnaples went out LuckyLady519 suffered the same fate as her nine-eight low was no good against DYBYDX's eight-five leaving LuckyLady519 short. A few hands later LuckyLady519 moved the remainder of her chips into the middle and found herself against (RIP)C.McRae. When the hand was complete {RIP]C.McRae showed 9♣8♥5♥4♦3♦ for the nine-eight low which was good enough to eliminate LuckyLady519, who's hand was not revealed, in fifth place collecting $3,595.

After two quick eliminations 2ABailo was sitting with the least amount of chips and moved those chips into the middle, getting called by (RIP)C.McRae. Both players drew one card, 2ABailo showed T♥T♦8♠6♦3♠ while (RIP)C.McRae showed 7♠6♥5♦2♠A♦ eliminating 2ABailo in fourth place.

During three handed play the lead which had belonged to WTFOMGFGOAO from the start slipped away and eventually DYBYDX was sitting on the top. DYBYDX continued to keep the pressure on his other two opponents and before too long WTFOMGFGOAO shoved all-in before the players took their draw. DYBYDX called and took one card while WTFOMGFGOAO stood pat. WTFOMGFGOAO was hoping that the J♦T♠9♦4♠3♠ would be enough to get the double but DYBYDX held 8♦6♥5♥4♣2♠ for the eight-six low eliminating WTFOMGFGOAO in third place.

When heads-up play began DYBYDX held a 3.5 to 1 chip lead over (RIP)C.McRae. With that much of a deficit (RIP)C.McRae asked for a deal but the pair decided to continue to play.

(RIP)C.McRae asked for a deal again when the two players chips evened out after a few hands but once again DYBYDX declined and they continued to play. The two players traded the chip lead before (RIP)C.McRae started to get the better of DYBYDX.

The final hand saw all of DYBYDX's chips go in before the players took their draw. DYBYDX drew one card while (RIP)C.McRae stood pat. DYBYDX showed K♥J♥8♠5♦3♦ for the king-jack low while (RIP)C.McRae showed Q♥J♠7♠4♥2♥ for the queen-jack low and the win.

Congrats (RIP)C.McRae on winning Event 16 for $17,343 and the WCOOP bracelet.
