WCOOP 2013: buzzard1881 swoops in, captures Event #42 bracelet ($320 H.O.R.S.E.)
Buzzard1881 wasn't the chip leader going into the final table. He wasn't the chip leader going into the four-handed deal negotiations and when he did take the chip lead into heads-up play, he lost it almost immediately. What buzzard1881 did have was patience, something most of us could probably use a little more of when it comes to limit tournaments. Buzzard1881 picked his spots well and hit his rush at the right time, defeating Ceegee87 heads-up to take home his first WCOOP bracelet.
The first of two H.O.R.S.E. events on the WCOOP calendar, Event #42 drew 576 players. 72 of them earned a share of the $172,800 prizepool with the champion set to take home $32,659,20. Eleven Red Spades played and four of them made the money: Mickey "mement_mori" Petersen (60th), Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome (37th), Chad Brown (27th), and Marcel Luske (16th).
Luske had an average stack going into the final two tables, but met his end during Omaha Hi/Lo. With the betting limits up to 10,000/20,000 and 44,936 behind, Luske opened for a UTG raise and sirgenutz three-bet to 30,000. Caprioli called from the big blind and Luske called as well. Caprioli checked to Luske on the T♥7♠5♥ flop and he bet 10,000. Sirgenutz raised, caprioli three-bet and Luske called off his remaining 4,936. Caprioli led out for 20,000 on the J♠ turn but checked the Q♦ river, sirgenutz checking behind. Caprioli revealed A♥4♥7♦J♦ and his jacks and sevens were good enough to scoop the pot and end Luske's run in 16th place.
The limits were up to 20,000/40,000 on the final table bubble and Razz was the game. In a heads-up pot vs. billygstar, RL1D called off the last of his chips on fifth street. Billygstar revealed a made 8-6, while RL1D was drawing to an 8-7 low.
billygstar (3♦5♦) 6♣8♥2♥J♥ (T♥)
RL1D (7♣4♣) 6♥8♦J♣3♣ (K♣)
The trey RL1D picked up on sixth street gave him a thin ray of hope, but the river king crushed it. RL1D was eliminated in ninth place and the final table was set.

buzzard1881 takes the chip lead, sirgenutz exits in eighth
A Razz pot worth over half a million chips unfolded on the first hand of the final table, sirgenutz leading off the action with a completion to 20,000 with the 3♣ up. Buzzard1881 raised to 40,000 with the 2♦, Zbad cold-called with the 2♣ and sirgenutz called to make it three-handed to fourth street.

buzzard1881 (X - X ) 2♦5♠Q♣6♦ (X)
Zbad (X - X) 2♣J♥4♣4♠ (X)
With the low board on fourth, buzzard1881 led out for 20,000 and both players called. With three to a wheel, sirgenutz took the lead on fifth and sixth, buzzard1881 and Zbad coming along. Sirgenutz fired again on the river, buzzard1881 raised to 80,000, and it was enough to fold out both Zbad and sirgenutz. Buzzard1881 raked in the 538,000 pot and took the chip lead with 750,000.
Sirgenutz was left with only 83,000 after the hand and was eliminated later in the Razz level. With 4-5-8 showing on fifth street, sirgenutz get the last of his chips and Zbad called.

Zbad (4♣3♦) 7♦K♣T♥6♥ (A♣)
Sirgenutz was looking to improve his four to an 8-5, but bricked out and finished with a king-low. Zbad made a ten on sixth and improved to 7-6-4-3-A on the river to eliminate sirgenutz in eighth place ($3,024.00).
Zbad finishes off ViTaMin_F22 in seventh
ViTaMin_F22 was no doubt elated to move up a spot on the pay ladder after arriving at the final table as the short stack. The game switched to Stud and with the 7♠ up, ViTaMin_F22 raised all-in for 15,946. Billygstar raised to 20,000 both Zbad and billygstar called. As the betting continued on the side, billygstar led out on fourth and fifth streets before checking on sixth. Zbad checked behind, then bet the river from position. Billygstar folded, Zbad revealing trip tens.

ViTaMin_F22 finished with only queen-high and was eliminated in seventh place, good for $4,320.00
Ceegee87's boat runs over S 18
Later in the stud level with the limits still 20,000/40,000, S 18 committed his last 18,688 chips on third street. Ceegee87 raised to 40,000 and billygstar came along for the ride, but folded to Ceegee87's fourth street bet.
S 18 (T♣5♠) T♠Q♠3♥T♥ (8♣)
Ceegee87 (Q♥Q♣) 5♣2♣2♠2♦ (6♥)
billygstar (X - X) T♦3♣
When the cards went on their backs, ceegee87's pair of queens led S 18's pair of tens. Ceegee87 made two pair on fifth street and improved to deuces full of queens on sixth, ending S 18's run in sixth place ($6,048.00).
Zbad zaps ImDaNuts
ImDaNuts had kept pretty quiet until this point, but with only three big bets left, he got involved in a stud pot with Zbad. ImDaNuts put the last of his chips in on fifth street, but was in dire shape against Zbad's set of sevens. ImDaNuts improved to aces up but it wasn't enough, and hit the rail in fifth place ($8,640.00):
Shortly after play turned four-handed, the players agreed to pause the action and discuss a potential deal. Here's a look at how they stacked up at the time:
Seat 1: billygstar (400,895 in chips)
Seat 4: Ceegee87 (619,457 in chips)
Seat 7: buzzard1881 (816,784 in chips)
Seat 8: Zbad (1,042,864 in chips)
Ceegee87 requested ICM numbers and final table host George "Jorj95" Lind III complied. After subtracting the required $2,000 that needed to be left in play, the ICM chop awarded shares ranging from $18,422 to $23,708. All four quickly agreed to the deal, each now guaranteed between second and third place money with $2k still left to play for.
Zbad finishes fourth, billygstar takes third
When action resumed, buzzard1881 snagged the chip lead from Zbad, making threes full of tens to scoop a stud hi/lo pot. Then, with the game rotation back at the top with limit hold'em, Zbad tangled with billygstar in a three-bet pot. Zbad continued for 25,000 on the 4♣3♥2♠ flop, billygstar called, and Zbad bet the last of his chips when the 6♦ hit the turn. Zbad revealed pocket kings, but billygstar snapped them off, his A♣5♦ having turned a six-high straight. Zbad was eliminated in fourth place, collecting $23,708.47 thanks to the deal.
Billygstar ran into trouble during Omaha hi/lo after three-betting pre flop vs. buzzard1881. He bet the flop, turn, and river, buzzard1881 calling him down the whole way on the 9♦4♥3♣A♣T♠ board. Billygstar turned up a pair of aces with A♥5♣J♦K♣, but the turn had made buzzard1881's A♠A♦9♣T♥ top set. Billygstar was left with less than 100,000 after the hand. A few hands later, billygstar again ran into aces after committing the last of his chips preflop with 3♠5♣J♦Q♠. Ceegee87's A♠A♣4♥6♦ made aces and tens on the T♠4♦7♦7♥T♥ board and billygstar was out in third, earning $18,422.85.
Heads-up chip counts
Seat 4: Ceegee87 (1,170,966 in chips)
Seat 7: buzzard1881 (1,709,034 in chips)
After trading pots for about five minutes, Ceegee87 took the chip lead on a Razz hand. Ceegee87's ten low held up when buzzard1881 hit running jacks on fifth and sixth street and he moved up to 1.57 million in chips. Buzzard1881 snagged the lead back later in the Razz round when his 9-7 low was good for a 492,000 pot. Now buzzard1881 was the one with 1.54 million while Ceegee87 fell to 1.34 million.
Buzzard1881 pushed his stack past the 2 million mark during the stud round. With the A♠ up, buzzard1881 completed to 40,000, then called Ceegee87's raise to 80,000. Buzzard1881 raised Ceegee87's lead bet on fourth street, then made it 80,000 to go on fifth. Buzzard1881 bet again on sixth and led the river, but Ceegee87 gave up his hand, saving his remaining 819,000.
buzzard1881 (X - X) A♠K♥8♦3♣ (X)
Ceegee87 (X - X) 6♠A♥T♣9♣ (X)
Ceegee87 ground his stack back into seven-figure territory several times, but buzzard1881 pushed back at every turn. Buzzard1881 caught a rush and took down six pots in a row to whittle Ceegee87 down to 468,000 before sealing the win on this final hand:
Congratulations to Canada's buzzard1881 on his first WCOOP win! He banked $24,309.22 while runner-up Ceegee87 earned $20,737.06.
