WCOOP 2013: Time to be a champion

You can win a tournament any day. You can win a festival Main Event at least once a month. But there is only one time a year you can be an online poker world champion, and that time is now.

The 2013 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker begins this weekend with $40 million in guarantees and 66 events, including an $8 million guaranteed Main Event that will pay out a minimum of $1.25 million to first place.

WCOOP 2013 kicks off this Sunday with three tourneys that will combine for $3 million in guarantees. Need info? We've got everything you need and information about a special contest below.

  • Finally, if you think you have the chops to be a world champion in something other than poker and don't mind taking a picture or video of yourself doing it, Team PokerStars Pro wants to give you a $530 WCOOP ticket.

See, a lot of Team Pro members are using Instagram these days, and they want to see you posting cool pictures of you doing something you're good at. Baseball, mountain climbing, bathtub soap bubble sculptures, melon carving, interpretive dance...it doesn't matter. Just hop on Instagram and post a photo of yourself with the hashtag #starsworldchamp. Members of Team Pro will be looking out for your pictures, and the winner will get a $530 WCOOP ticket. The runner-up will win a $215 ticket (Terms and conditions are here).

In the meantime, clear the next three weeks of your life, dust off your mantle, and get ready to see if you have what it takes to be a champion.

The PokerStars Blog will have full reports on every final table in our special 2013 WCOOP coverage section.

Good luck to all in the coming weeks.
