Watch Jason Somerville crush Twitch record

So, it was a weekend night when you might expect a lot of people to be face-down in a pillow or face-up to the sky, howling at the Saturday night moon. It was on a night just like that on which we found 27,000 people watching Twitch hero Jason Somerville play a split pot stud game.

Scholars will look at this night at some point when they discuss the people who followed Somerville to colonize Mars, and they will say, "This was the night he got them."

It was a Twitch record for a poker stream, and one of the damnedest things we've ever seen. There aren't a lot of people out there who like to play stud poker anymore, and I'd bet there are fewer people who actually like to watch someone else play it.

But there it was. There was Jason Somerville with the population of a small American city watching his every check, bet, and fold.

If you missed it (read: if you, too, were howling at the moon), we have the bulk of the video below.
