WCOOP to host its first $51,000 Super High Roller

Well, that escalated quickly.

Today PokerStars announced that this year's World Championship of Online Poker will host online poker's biggest ever buy-in event. How much? Just a cool $51,000.

Several years back, WCOOP pulled off some $25,000 events, but now WCOOP is going for the biggest ever, and in the meantime will be guaranteeing at least $1 million in the prize pool for the September 20 Super High Roller.

"Over the last few years we have seen the emergence of Super High Roller events at live events across the globe," said Team PokerStars Pro member Daniel Negreanu. "I think it only makes sense that the world's largest poker site is also the host of the largest buy-in online poker tournament ever. I'm excited to test my skills against the best of the best, online."

This year will be the 14th consecutive running of online poker's championship series. Last year's WCOOP paid out $61,934,886.

The Super High Roller event will take place a week before the September 27th $5,200 WCOOP Main Event. Players can win entries into the $10 million guaranteed Main Event of with satellites starting at $1.

For now...why don't you tell us on Twitter @PokerStarsBlog how many entries you think the $51,000 will get?
