WCOOP 2016: Live or online? Same names dominate on Day 8

The weekend would be a busy one for WCOOP, with 12 more titles won. Among the winners were CMoosepower, jbrown8777, bambooeater and Dzmitry "Colisea" Urbanovich, who glided past Benny Spindler and zzwwzzwwzz to win his fourth 'COOP title. That though was more than enough for zzwwzzwwzz to keep top spot on the leader board. Three more events begin today.

The headlines from the eighth day of WCOOP 2016

We often say there's a big difference between the live and online game, but sometimes it's hard to do so while actually believing it.

Take Dzmitry Urbanovich. He was an EPT super high roller runner up even before he won an EPT Main Event title himself in Dublin earlier this year. His online results are almost indistinguishable from his live ones. He won Event #25, his fourth 'COOP title this weekend, and had to do it the hard way, beating current Player of the Series leader zzwwzzwwzz (fifth), Benny "toweliestar" Spindler (fourth), Billy "crocky" Argyros (third) and Edgy400 who was runner-up.

It was all worth $54,217 to Urbanovich who we can only assumes reacts with as little emotion for his online wins as he does for his live ones. A great performance regardless.

It was the kind of result to cast shadows over the other ten weekend results. But there were plenty of other performances of note.

Like that of Andrey "ThePateychuk" Pateychuk who finished second to Tgonz in Event #15. Edgy420 mentioned above, finished in sixth.

Another former EPT winner Sebastian "Pauli elTopo" Pauli went deep, finished third in Event #17, won by fellow German Dosenpfand.

Christian "CMoosepower" Elgstrøm won Event #19 ahead of Mike "goleafsgoeh" Leah who finished second. Steven "Stevie444" Chidwick finished fourth in that one, ahead of Mikal "Mikal12345" Blomlie in sixth and Team Pro Jason Somerville in eighth.

Current leader board standings

With so many events taking place over the weekend there were bound to be some changes. But generally speaking the same names are still hovering around the top.

Zzwwzzwwzz still leads on 265 points thanks to another final table appearance in Event #25. Lena900 cashed three times over the weekend, reaching a final table and narrowly missing out on another. He moves into second place, albeit 60 points behind first. Meanwhile Connor "blanconegro" Drinan hangs on in third place with another cash finish over the weekend.

Andrey "ThePateychuk" Pateychuk and Dzmitry "Colisea" Urbanovich make their way into the top ten thanks to a second place and a win respectively.

Here's how the top looks.
