World Cup of Poker: Action underway

The road to a PokerStars World Cup of Poker title is not a short one. To carry home a title for your home country takes more than just showing up with a flag on your lapel. It is a long journey that begins in the giant field of players in your home country and ends in the sunny confines of Paradise Island in the Bahamas.

Hundreds of people in the United States and Canada started their journey last night. PokerStars hosted the first of many state and provincial qualifiers for North American players. The top nine players from the competing states and provinces move on to their respective finals on Sunday. From there the state and province qualifiers will fight for a spot on their national team.

In the meantime, more North American qualifiers run today and Saturday. Then, Sunday November 16, players from the U.S., Canada, and Germany will all vie for the two spots in their states and provinces.

To find out if you still have a chance to qualify for your home team, check out PokerStars World Cup of Poker section in the PokerStars lobby under Events - World Cup.
