PokerStars World Cup of Poker VII on the way

WCP logo.JPGIn the middle of 2010's summer, the world clicked on its television sets and rose up in a fever of national pride like none other in the sports world. The World Cup divided the globe and brought countries together in a way that seemed impossible just weeks earlier. Whether it was called soccer or football, it was a phenomenon that made people think, "Wow, I'd like to do something like that."

Now, you can (only there won't be a ball). Once again PokerStars is bringing back the World Cup of Poker, a chance to represent your country on the world's biggest poker stage. Fifty-six countries from all over the world will compete for national pride and a prize pool worth $290,000. There are many goals along the way, but the biggest is making it to the live final in the Bahamas for the chance to win the $100,000 first prize. Last year that honor went for the first time to Chinese Taipei.

This year, all players will have a shot to making it on their national team. Play begins this Saturday with $1 qualifiers. The freerolls and FPP-entry events kick off on Sunday.

If you want a little more incentive, all players that play in the $1 and 1 FPP qualifier tournaments for the new World Cup of Poker VII champions will be invited to play a $100,000 freeroll on January 30.

There are two stages of World Cup of Poker VII play online at PokerStars. Make it through those and you'll be headed to the Bahamas and PokerStars Caribbean Adventure for the live final at the Atlantis Resort and Casino in January.

For full details, schedules, and rules, see the PokerStars World Cup of Poker VII information page.

Good luck. Your country is counting on you.
