World Cup of Poker VIII to send seven countries to Bahamas

ps_news_thn.jpgPull out your flag, iron the creases from its cloth, and raise it high above your home, for the PokerStars World Cup of Poker VIII is on. After seven successful years of crowning the world's poker superpower, the World Cup is poised to take seven nations to the Caribbean to fight it out for the planet's top national poker honor.

The fight begins this weekend with the Stage 1 qualifiers to determine the players for each country. Like some other World Cup we've heard about, the team will be made up of a striker, midfielder, defender, and a goalie. Each of the positions has different buy-ins ranging from free to $11 to a position held exclusively for TLB winners.

Earlier this year, Team Italy took home the title after a hard-fought battle in the Bahamas. This year, it will be up to you and your team to make it through the Stage 2 round and make it to the live finals at the Atlantis Resort and Casino during the 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.
